  • I have not been to test yet but the Screen shots here look good and I cannot wait for the window to go live. I hope they show the enchanted stuff for JC and the Imbued stuff for Smithing/JC and the rest.

Macro'ing... Hmmm there is a program for around $20 (Name with held to discourage Macro'ers) that you do not NEED to know Scripting or Programing for. It will memorize Mouse clicks and even movement and allow for combines, auto inventory and the like. A person I spoke with at one time used this for tradeskills while he was at his computer. It would allow him to Brew, Sell and buy THEN would stop if it could not complete a buy due to lack of funds. He claimed that since he was at the Keyboard it was not against the EULA. Personally I have not used this but have seen it used.

    • Tradeskill UI on Test no longer active?

I logged onto test again today and the tradeskill containers were all classic style. Couldn't access the new UI no matter what I opened.

      Anyone else experience this?

      • I have also logged onto test to try this out but still have the old style. Is there some combinations of buttons or menu to bring up this new UI?

        • Since the last patch, most world containers (brew barrel, forge) are broken and wont show the new UI. Some carried containers still work tho. Itll prolly get sorted out next patch.

          • Thanks.

I'm actually already getting a start on designing a new UI file for the tradeskill container, since the existing one is so huge. The one thing I can't figure out is what the "UseCtrlCheckbox" is for. Supposedly, if you check the box, you can use ctrl-rclick for something, but I have no idea what, and because of that, I have no earthly clue where to put it. I dont recall seeing this checkbox when I logged on while the interface was still working.

Something else that wasn't working when I logged on before was the auto-inventory button. I recall being a little annoyed by having to drag and drop whatever appeared on my cursor to a bag. I didn't even know it was supposed to be a part of the interface until I started dissecting the html code. So if and when they get that working, it's going to be very cool.

            • UseCntrlR is for containers in your personal inventory. If you hit cntrl+R then click the container it opens in the OLD mode, like the experiment button. This is so you can open containers you are using as general bag space instead of opening it in the NEW UI first then having to hit Experiment.

              • Couple things:

                1. The new TS UI is broken right now on both Test and Beta, it will not open for the correct containers. The ones it does open for right now shouldn't (mixed up Logic). It's fixed, just needs patching. NOTE: on beta, forges will still be broken when this is fixed... it's a DX9 thing.

                2. The CtrlRClick button is a way to swap the current click interface to open the new UI. By default, you right-click to open the tradeskill UI, and ctrl-right-click to bypass that and open the "bag" view. Depressing this CtrlRClick button switches those two actions.

                3. Searching is now case-INsensitive.

                  • It's working again

God news…as of last night the new UI was back on test and now it seems you can do a combine over 50 points above your current skill level and (if successful) will let you pull it up on the list and save it as a favorite.

So it appears to be working as intended now.

                    • I've asked this before but I didn;t see the answer, excuse me if this is a repeat.

Once a recipe is in your favorties, is there a typed command or a hot key method to do a favorite recipe? Would I be able to, for example, sit with a nice book and hit a button every few seconds and slowly turn my shadeling silk into thread? Or will I need to pull down a menu with a mouse, etc.

Either eay, it'll be great, but just curious if I can do this without having to look up from my dog-eared copy of Shogun to target the mouse.

                      • The way it works is, when you open the tradeskill container, there is a list on the left side. The default view, I believe, is your favorites list. If you want to find something NOT on your favorites list, you do a search for it, but if its on your favorites list, its there as soon as you open the container. Highlight the line item that is the item you want to make, and on the right of the tradeskill window, you will see the required components displayed in the slots of the container itself. They are outlined in green if you have them available, and red if you don't. If everything is outlined in green, all you have to do is click "combine." Then you can click the "autoinventory" button to put whatever you made in your packs, then hit "combine" again. You do NOT have to select what you want to make every time, you just select it the first time then click "combine" again and again to your little heart's content. I have NOT experimented with whether or not you can click "combine" while you have something on your cursor, but in the old system, you couldn't combine while holding something, so I suspect hitting "autoinventory" is required between each combine.

So in your case, you would open your sewing kit, and your favorites list would be displayed. You would highlight the recipe for Shadeling Silk Thread and it would display two shadeling silks highlighted in green on the right. Click Combine. Click Autoinventory. Click Combine. Click Autoinventory, and so forth, to your little heart's content. Whether or not you can map "combine" and "autoinventory" to a hotkey, I really couldn't say. I haven't tried it. Seems like that would be making it just a smidge too easy.

Also, there is a couple seconds delay before you can hit "combine" again, which I suppose is the anti-macroing delay everyone keeps talking about. The combine button is grayed out until its available again.

                        • Thanks that was very informative. I appreciate it, and I look forward to it - will make it easier to play with my son and do subcombines at the same time.

EDIT: You probably can't hotkley combine, but you can hotkey /autoinventory. I have it attached to my right key, so I might just slowly twirl right as I combine.

                          • I hit 250 in smithing with the New UI. When i did, i was able to see an item i hadnt seen or ever combined previously, Yttrium sheet metal, which trivs at 335. Im guessing, once you hit 250, all 'book-known' recepies open up. Ill check other combiners later.

No, you cannot do a combine with an item on your cursor. If the Combine button is ready to press, and you pick something up, it greys out. It opens up again as soon as you drop your item.

No, the Combine button doesnt seem to be hot-keyable. You actually have to click it. The Auto-inventory can be hotkeyed.

First that statement is flat wrong.

Second, do you really have 1 million pp laying around? That is about what it would cost to GM any of the skills that can not be storebought. I know that is only one week in SolRo, but how many people want to play a week in SolRo for ornate drops to sell?

Third, storebought skills like JC take around 1800 combines to skill from 1 to 250. That is all of what, 4 hours? I don't know ANYONE that would use the new UI that WOULD NOT use old way.

You guys are seriously trying to distort the TRUTH, imho.

                              • Except Smithing (224), all my TS are maxed.

I started TS in 1999. Many GOOD changes were made (stackable pelts, ore, ctrl/shift, cultural and so on) and honnestly, I don't remember any bad changes, no one (maybe I'm wrong or it's just selective memory ).

This new UI is GREAT and welcome.

I'm glad that the new guy who start TS don't have to click countless time for celestial essences, it was a pain in the butt and it's still actually.

Same with CVT, Minotaur Hero Brew, any recipes who uses more than 1 component (so let's say all recipes ).

Clicking again and again and again, dragin items from one backpack to the forge ad eternam is NOT tradeskills.

I don't see why on earth, because I'm 250 in mostly all tradeskills and made it the hard way, I should have it easy than the poor guy who is raising his toon's TS.

If you like to have some carpal tunnels, it's your choice, don't use the new UI but screaming that, because you made your TS the old way, suffered in your wrists, all the others peoples SHOULD suffer the same.

Not only it's selfish in the worst way, but it's simply PITYFUL.

Sure some TS are too easy (JC or Brewing ? ), but saying that removing any real life potential damage factor is making a game too easy ???

Hell, I hope you never learned (and will never learn) snowboarding. The day you'll broke one of your legs, you'll wish that anyone who learn snowboard should have a broke leg too .

Sheesh... sometime, people really amaze me

PS : Grats the Devs for the new TS UI. I'm waiting the 10th feb .
