  • How do you get your INT/WIS so high?

OK, please point me in the right direction if this question has been asked before (I did a search and didn't find anything).

I am a lowly 30 druid with a Smithing skill of 205. I don't have the best equipment or access to millions of plat to go buy all the most awesome equipment out there, however, if I am ever going to get more skillups, I think I need to boost my wisdom stat from where is it -- 170ish. Yeah, yeah, I am embarrassed about that after reading all the posts talking like having a 355 WIS/INT score is so common.

So, my question is, given my low level, given the fact I am not supported by a humongous guild, and that I am not independantly wealthy, what would you all recommend I look for in order to get my WIS up to a point where I can feel better about my prospects of getting skill-ups?

Any and all recommendations are welcome except the one that tells me I should just give it up :P.

Oh, and if this is any indication, Rhyss was created May 5th, 1999 and has more days played than I care to remember.

    Thanks for all your help!

Stats over 255 can only be achieved if you're 61+, so don't feel you're lagging because you only have 170 wisdom at level 30. That's actually not bad.

Having said that, one of the things you can do besides just buying some more wisdom items (jewelry for example) would be to get an insight or enlightenment buff from a nice enchanter before you do your combines. Insight is level 39 by the way, so search for people of that level or higher.

I was wondering the same thing....I was under the impression that wis/int had a cap of 255.

Starting at level 61, the cap goes up by 5 per level. In addition, you can spend AA to increase that cap. The folks who are quoting numbers in the 355 area are high level with a lot of AA.

My poor gnome cleric is only 60 still, so limited to 255.

Thanks for the response Ixiola, could you also let me know how you get more than one skill over 200? That seems to be a change since the last time I paid attention to these things.

i have 255 int on my wizard. barely. i have been getting +int items from the begining of the game instad of going the earsier +mana route. i also had a guildie delete his lv 45 wizard twink and give me the equip.

i would sugest enlightenment or brilliance and misty thicket picnics and qeynos afternoon tea. try not to eat/drink them. also. get to 34 and start porting for money. i make a lot of money that way when at the forge or ovens so that i can keep tradeskilling.

then get velium and jasper i think. makes a +7 wis ring or you can go forage the polished quartz in takish ldon that give int/mana/wis/ac. then just buy velium or find a chanter to trade some polished quartz too for a couple items made. the necklace with velium is 8 wis i think.

look up your diety jewelry. shaman bud really likes the tribunal stuff and emeralds are cheap. they might give wis and other stats.

                What Eniamn said.

Although actually my three skills are on different alts. In addition, tinkering, alchemy, and poison making don't count against your only 1 over 200 without AA cap. So theoretically, a gnome rogue can GM three with no AAs.

Lets start off with the first question. Get yourself the 2 +7 wis rings, buy the stuff to have them made, or buy them in the bazaar. Also, try to get the studded acrylia tunic and cloak, generally 600-800pp in bazaar. A Platinum ruby veil is a nice +8 wis item for your face. Also, charred guardian shield, +9 wis 125 - 500pp. All prices are server dependant, though.

Second question. To get more than 1 skill over 200, you need the PoP expansion, and then you can AA buy the Tannan craft mastery for the additional skills. Not being that close to being able to do so myself, I don't know the AA costs. Perhaps someone else here can give that information.

Good suggestions of course, but he mentioned that money was an issue, which is why I suggested going the buffing route. Now the Misty Thicket picnics and Qeynos Afternoon Tea are great ideas, and wouldn't cost much to buy one or 2 of each. That would give you +10 wisdom. Just be sure to force feed yourself foraged junk ALL the time so you don't eat them. My cleric eats summoned bread and water non stop, so I can nurse my one stack of each for months and months...

I take it the Qeynos Afternoon Tea and Misty Thicket Picnics are bakery items?

Good thing is that I have a Charred Guardian Shield already as well as a Platinum Ruby Veil. I will look for the Velium jewelry when I get chance and funds. The Studded Acrylia I was hoping to make myself but looking at the required components I think it is beyond my means.

Anyway, thank you all for your advice. This has helped a great deal. If any of you are on Bristlebane, gimme a holler so I can say thank you in person, otherwise...

as a druid i would assume karana or tunare. plains pebbles are free and emeralds are only 13 pp. look into that jewelry as well. also what race are you? and yes the +10 wis cloak from acrylia studded is dang handy. i am trying for int caster only +10 int legs to trade out gear in other spots. want to keep int maxed but like resists and mana too. at 34 learn to quad. will help you to solo xp and to farm stuff.

edit ok i looked it up. tunare jewelry has no wis. odd that but anyway.

cheaper than velium jasper rings (looked it up. jasper makes wis stuff) but str minus and less wis.

looks like most of the polished quartz info was lost but makes

obviously velium and platinum will be better and might want to start wearing them. sol ro has +8 int rings for hi followers. they help me a lot.

the picnics are bakery items. forage tea leaves in karanas and trade a few for the qeynos tea. they are the bottle neck for the recipe so provide someone with some and they will prolly trade you well for them. not sure on yeild but for a stack of leaves if you want to farm spider silk to sell in bazaar and make some money would prolly get at least 5 tea from it.

edit. while in karanas kill some griffenes for exp and loot and keep the griffeene blood. also used in teh tea i think.

Misty Thicket Picnics are +5 WIS and are Baked with a >250 trivial.

Qeynos Afternoon Tea is brewed with Tea Leaves foraged in EK only and trivials at 226.

On another note, if you are involved in Baking, Brewing, and to some extent, Tailoring, you can sell your finished products to upgrade equipment. Most people smithing, either for skilling up or for good armor, need leather padding. A lot of people will buy Picnics, QAT, Grobb Liquid Meat, or Kaladim Constitutionals in bulk so that they don't have to worry about forcefeeding. All of these recipes can be made at your level. Since you have a skill over 200 already, I would recommend raising Brewing to 200, which is cheap to do, and not too difficult. With a Geerlok, the GLM (216)and QAT is almost trivial, and you can use the profits to upgrade your equipment.

Overall, the best way to increase your WIS is to look in the Bazaar and comparison shop. Search by WIS for various slots, and buy whatever gives you the best bang for your buck. Good luck to you.

Actually, it might help if you were to list your eqipment.

Have you quested the Testament of Vanier? 10 wis book, either hand. If you melee when you're killing, then save it for skill up runs, otherwise, use it all the time. (I did this quest easy as a 16 druid)

As mentioned, Studded and Reinforced Acrylia has a lot of WIS on it. I'd check em out and see what you can upgrade.

My 31 WE druid is up around 216 WIS I believe, eating baked Misty Thicket Picnics, and Brewed Qeynos Afternoon Tea.

As far as money, I agree, get to 34 and become a port monkey for PP. And learn to quad while you're at it... Heh. I gott learn that myself in 3 more levels. (and lets not forget 25INT/WIS from kei if you make it up to 45)

Reaching 205 Blacksmithing on 170 WIS is quite an accomplishment. Remember though, the higher yer WIS the more likely to skill up, thus ultimately the less Platinum spent. Upgrade your WIS now, and it'll pay for itself in the future.

I've been upgrading all my casters recently myself. (2 WIS casters and 2 INT casters) 2 are at 255 now, and the other two are 216-225. It's expensive but will be more than worth it in the long run.
