  • Fan Faire- how'd it go?

Aside from Denmother finding a voice-eating bug that's scaring the kittycats. Those new Campbell's sipping soup cups were a gawdsend last time I got bit,BTW.

I know they tucked at least one or two recipies in LDoN that didn't get shown off- like the lemming fur bag. Any tidbits drop during the panels?

Once you lucky dogs recovered, that is.

They supposedly were supposed to start dropping hints about a new tradeskill quest which would be even bigger than the earring one.

Other than that, anyone ask about us poor trolls?

If true, I just hope the new tradeskill quest doesn't require flags. I loved the shawl quest since anyone can do it, but I know I'll most likely never see most of the planes and so AG is out for me.

The new quest that's rumoured to be added soon is the one(s) from the EQ RPG books, iirc.
Itzena Alhazared, Revenant of {Planeteers}, Vallon Zek. And also a seamstress.
Gelcea Macha, Wandering Animist of Tarew Marr. Will be a smith, one day.

Eh? So you have to buy their books to do the quest?

i'd imagine that there'd be ingame info for it...there was, after all, for the previous 2 quests from the EQ RPG.

can you imagine the req 200 or 250 all tradeskill quest. /shudder ag is already making to many high level tradeskillers who are just for the ag quest. i tradeskill cause i'm a masochist. jk. imagine the reward the 250 tradeskillers would get. maybe enough to make up for taking 15 months longer to hit 65 and not time flagged. +45 all stats 200 saves, ft 15, aura of regen 10, haste 50%, and 8 ldon slots. prolly not but if its bigger than the grimel earing woot. i would prefer a more shawl quest item where you dont have to be so ungodly ibg to do it. even better if its a solstice earring thing we can make money off of components for. just want something with erudite smithing required cause it would be amusing to me.

                      I agree with the above.

Could you imagine a solstice-like quest, where each of the gifts is a cultural-only item? (Tradeable items, of course) Now that would have some market possibilities.

I asked a few questions at the FF. I went to the first session and asked a couple of questions before the session even started so they probably won't show on any of the reports from the show.

I asked whether the chance of skill ups are better with success of the item vs. failure. He said that he was supposed to find out the answer to that before coming to the show but he didn't. He said he will check and let us know when he got back. He scribbled some notes but not sure if we will even get the answer to us.

Second question I asked was since the patch that created the low trivial item to fail much less than 5%, did they change the near trivial items to fail more. He said he didn't think that was the case and it would be a bug if that was. He said he will get back to us after having the QA dept look in to it. I would hope they find that is the case and fix it since the near trivial item failure for GMs tend to be expensive. If they stay at 5% or less, I would be happy.

One question I asked during the forum was whether they have any plans to let us combine all our trophies in to a super trophy of some sort. He said there is no plan for that at all. I was a bit disappointed at this answer but something someone else asked made me feel a bit better. He said they are looking into more multi-discipline tradeskill quests like Solstice earring or Coldain shawl. He did say shawls will not go past 8th however.

When someone complained that the tradeskills were very boring and is there a way to make it more intersting, the panel asked for some suggestion. I volunteered one of my ideas. I told them that if they made the stats of crafted items to be variable, it would be more interesting. For example, if I were to make an item with wisdom of 6 currently, depends on success of the item, same item may come out with wisdom of 10 or 2, with the average being 6. The variation can be on any stats. I think this would make items more interesting to make and you can keep the best to sell and rest can be sold back to vendors or given away/destroyed. The sub-combines also contribute to the final item, so better sub combine items you start with, better chance of making better final item.

Well, I am sure much more discussion occurred but that's all I can remember now and I only attended the first session.

Ooh ... that could be rather neat. I dunno, something like "Might of the 3rd Blood" (we are 3rd, right, after dragons and giants?) or "Spirit of Norrath's Children" or whatnot. The combination of every cultures' strong points (ie stereotypes, heh) into a unified item, representing the unified strengths of the player races.

So long as *every* race has to contribute something (ie half-elves, Vah Shir, and frogloks too), it seems like it would be a fun idea. Balancing it so that the 'difficulty' of the parts were similar between races, and picking which tradeskills were of which races (or simply requiring all races to do something from all tradeskills) would be a pain ... but I do like the idea. It has rather nice potential roleplay aspects for its story, and could be a nice new "tradeskill quest" (so long as its not another uber-only AG, hehe).

*sigh* I've been sending various suggestions for literally years. Sadly I haven't seen many implemented.

                              re: Taushar's idea.

                              Taushar,
Interesting idea, I take it you've played DAoC...

Unfortunately, if this was implemented, I could see it decimating the market for player made items (what little market there is) as players refuse to buy any except the 'best'.

What would be nice would be if tradeskill items had good enough stats that people would actually want to wear the stuff. Or, maybe if they had an extra augmentation slot that would accept ANY augmentation (depending on what the item is, e.g. no type 4 (weapon proc) in a breastplate, etc)
