New LDoN Puzzle

After installing LDoN and logging in for the first time type /CLAIM to receive:

Satchel of Abu-Kar
LORE ITEM NO DROP
WT: 1.0 Weight Reduction: 25%
Capacity: 8 Size Capacity: LARGE

Note: This only works once per account. So make sure you are on the server and character that you want to have the bag when you do the /CLAIM.

Upon solving the puzzle on the LDoN site you are told to visit a fellow in one of the Wayfarer Brotherhood (WFB) camps. Speaking to him and following his quest text gives you a note to take to a person in one of the other WFB camps. This person gives you an item and another note. Take the sequence of notes to the different WFB camps in order. Each person gives you a different item that is used to upgrade your bag. The last note directs you to a fellow in the Sro WFB camp who is supposedly a master tailor. Give him your satchel and all the items you have collected to receive:

Capacity: 10 Size Capacity: GIANT

A decent bag and a much better bag after the 'quest'

The bag isn't that big of a deal (Rallic pack is better), but it was a rather fun quest to do. I stumbled across the quest by accident after I had done the adventure stone part and was bouncing around to the various camps and hailing all the NPC's.

If you read all the text in the quest, it was rather amusing. And took no time at all with the Wayfarer magic porters.

Yeah. I was kicking myself. I was unaware of the WFB port folk when I did the satchel upgrade quest. My sorry behind was running all over the planet to find the camps. Took me a lot longer than it should have.

I’m very happy with my new satchel. The hardest part was deciding which of my two current main characters to give it to. I finally decided on my level 54 beastlord, as he has fewer weight reduction bags.

Something I’ve noticed after reading several posts about the satchel is that many people say that this bag isn’t a big deal because such and such bag is better. I’m sitting here wondering what their point is. Both my main characters have Rallic packs and sewn evil eye bags. And my shaman has the bag from his Grandmaster Brewer's Corker. But I still want more weight reduction bags. These bags are all lore so the addition of another bag is one more weight reduction container that I can have without paying 5k for a tinker bag. Am I really the only one that carries multiple weight reduction bags?

Doh!!

So last night I happily unpacked my retail version of LDoN, started the install and with the keychain in hand tried to solve this puzzle...

I lined up the keychain, placed the runes on the webpage and then, imagine my suprise when I get the message "The runes you have cast are incomprehensible." I tried it again, just to make sure I hadn't made a silly mistake. Again, same message. So, after about 5 or 6 tries, I sheepishly put the keychain away, thinking I have to be the biggest idiot on the planet.

Today, I get into work and just for fun, try loading up a different web browser and trying the puzzle again... Sure enough, works like a charm! The moral of this story is: Safari for MacOS X is a piece of poo.

I know, I know, this is a mostly windows game - but my windows machine is strictly a gaming platform for me. All my real work is done on a spiffy Apple laptop. And for anyone else who this might apply to (probably noone) IE and Mozilla both worked just fine, it was just Safari. Arrrg. Well, at least I only had one night of feeling like the worlds stupidest person

Ok, I just confirmed this myself, that you don't have to solve the puzzle to start the quest. You just have to get to the first NPC, Kizri ?, to start the quest. Of course, you need to have the bag to start the quest via /claim command. Also, you need to have the bag on you to start the quest. I forgot mine at the bank on one of my account and he didn't give me the quest.

So, after doing the puzzle and going to Kizri on my main account, I decided not to solve the puzzle on my other account. I went directly to Kizri and he gave me the quest and I got my 10 slot bag. FYI.

LOL - so in exchange for saving Sony the cost of making you a disk, instruction manual, box and crap to put it in and giving the retail stores a cut of the profits, you get...

So, my incentive to download future expansions instead of buying them retail is...

If by 'nothing' you mean 'the expansion for $5 less RRP' then you're quite correct.
