  • How stats affect skill increases according to the new character creation screen

Went to create a new toon to see what all the stats had to say and what they affected. Was shocked they included trade skills in there Anyways, here's what it said:

Strength - "If your strength is higher than your intelligence or wisdom, it determines how quickly you gain skill in Blacksmithing."

Stamina - No Trade Skill benefit.

Agility - No Trade Skill benefit.

Dexterity - "If your dexterity is higher than your intelligence or wisdom, it determines how quickly you gain skill in Fletching and Make Poison."

Wisdom - "Wisdom affects your chances of gaining skill points in most skills, if it is higher than your intelligence."

Intelligence - "Intelligence affects your chances of gaining skill points in most skills, if it is higher than your wisdom."

Charisma - No direct benefit to skill ups per say, though it affects how much you pay for vendor sold trade supplies as well as how much a vendor pays you for items you sell to them.

Gotta say, I was highly disappointed at how little Dexterity is used in trade skills overall. Seems to me high Dex should be used as a substitute to Int or Wis when it comes to Tailoring, Jewelcraft, and Pottery instead of just Fletching and Make Poison. Anyways, atleast they finally made it official as to what stats affect what skills.

And why do u say that?
Why not say it about strength since dex gets one more trade?

Because nimble fingers and hands (ie, dexterity) applies alot more than raw strength when it comes to Pottery, Tailoring, and Jewelcraft.

Personally, I'm disappointed that WIS and INT affect blacksmithing. I'd like to see one of these willowy elves talk a piece of ore into a breastplate! At best, thinking real hard will heat up their heads, not the metal.

Um you don't talk a bp into shape, but you certainly can learn how hard to hit it, how many times, in what area, exactly when to reheat it in the forge, how long to keep it in the forge to make it the most maleble , what to quench it in when to quench it. etc etc. That's probably why wis/int are used for skill ups.
