    216 - 15
    217 - 117

Another 24 Attempts = 0 Skill up. Spend a total of 15k for 2 skill points is sure fun...

    Forgot to add:

    305 dex
    305 int

      For wood-elves do Mithril.

Cost 2 small bricks of mithril 7pp each
Cost 1 large brick of mithril 19pp

      Other costs minor(mold, water).

cost for 2 attempts (rounded) = 33pp or 16.5pp per atempt

Yes it is a lot of running back and forth to felwithe since it is the only place to buy mithril and you have to do the combines to make heads and shafts in our beloved home city in the trees.

Just finished the run from 202 to 215 -- I'm now 18K poorer. *cringe* Had three separate points that took over 100 attempts, and a couple others that were in the 60-90 range.

Also was failing an unusually high number of combines, enough that I went to double-check that the trivial on Rough Darkwood Recurve was really 215....twice.

Not looking forward to the next step...

I'm curious as to why so many are using the Bows for skillups? I know not everyone can do the mithril that a wood elf can, or even the Steel of a Karana Worshipper, but it seems to me that Acrylia/condensed farming and fletching would be much more cost efficient ... I play a WoodElf and I can do the Mithril arrows and when I Do (although I more often do the acrlyia) I get about 1 skill-up per 1K spent ... but to be more specific If I spend about 3k on supplies and this nets me approximately 200 combines. Somewhere in that run, I will achieve about 3 skill-ups. It might be 1 in the beggining and 2 at the end or whatever ... and when I do acrylia its about the same ... perhaps a bit better ... so why would you blow 50, 70 or 100+K to move 50 points when there are cheaper ways if you simply excercise a little patience?

Now you might say, "Well 1K per point = 50K.", but if you farm the acrylia and you farm the chunks, your out of pocket expense is only for the nocks and fletches, which is negligible(sp).

As you can see in my signature my fletching is 225 + trophy ... My Dex is Maxed at 255. Not including the cost of the trophy I would say that all in all I spent maybe 12K getting there? Because I tried the Mithril route 3 times before going full on acrylia ... and say about another 3 K for getting to 202, give or take.

The easiest answer would be the Aide Grimel Quest. So many people are trying to skill up enough just to do this quest. Being you have to be 220 at all 7 skills I could see where patience would be a problem. Money doesnt seem to be a problem for many on buy up skills.

The second easiest answer would be Elemental Bows. Just making 1 stonewood bow to sell could put a huge dent in that fletching tab....that is if you are able to farm them yourself. Why spend weeks trying when you can do it in hours? Spend 100k now and then sell a couple of bows once you mastered the skill.

I did the whole farming to skill thing on my first toon. Had a whole lot of patience back then but little plat. Now that toon is in the 1750 club and can finance my bard. I would rather dump 80k pp to get it overwith than go back to farming greens. Had enough of that with tailoring and smithing already.

I followed the same progression of items as the lead post. I ended up making the following from 200 to 250:

                        314 Hemp + Darkwood combines (to 215)
                        311 Hemp + Darkwood + 2 Cam combines (to 235)
                        304 Hemp + Shadewood combies (to 250)

                        Total combines = 929
                        Total failures = 56 (6% - near the floor)
Average skill gain rate = 18.6 combines per skill point

I spent roughly 70K total. INT was 355. I used a geerlock. It took about 2 and a half hours. In other words, nearly identical to most of the results here.

WOW! I think I'm ready for my next push!

After reading the # of combines it took to go to 250 for most of you, I think I'm ready. I just sold off a bunch of my farmed condense shadow (240 pieces converted to arrowheads, and sold at 40pp each gave me just over 19K. Not bad for a 39 ranger) With 19K, I figure I can get in about 1100 combines (gice or take 50) of the Tunare only arrows. Just a matter of smithing up my components. I'll track progress at 255 Dex and let you know how it comes out. It may be painfull, but if I can go from 202 to 250 in about 20K, I'll be extatic. Wish me luck!

                              My advice to you Nepper...

Spend that 19k on better gear for your ranger and just play yourself to lvl 60+ and then get your aa skills to increase your max Dex, Wis, etc stats...then go after 250.

But, that's just me. I've been at 202 for close to 2 years now, and still can't fore see myself pushing to 250 yet.

Well, if you go for it...good luck to you then.
