    But Maddoc does

He rufuses to allow anymore "just for skillup" recipies at the HIGH END in the game. I mention high end becasue the 1-52 does not count, and as it is he does not care to 100 or so...

I know it sucks. And I wish I could do something about it, but at this time I cannot. At the worst case I will try and cram something in for the next expansion. I will see if soemthing can be done before then, but I cannot promise it.

Hmmm twist his arm to increase the droprate of bazu bones and girplan feathers and drake-spikes and erm drake wing bones and we will shut up )

the high end recipe is there, just that the droprate of teh stuff is the pits making it non viable for skillups

We had arrows on beta and we have tradeskill tagged blood dropping. Yet we can't make any arrows ... why? You didn't say specifically if it was bane damage or something else. It's one thing for javelins to be the only DoD fletching addition, it's something else for that to be all we get because someone dropped the ball and they aren't going to fix it until .. possibly next expansion. I guess that's better then foods made from Taelosian Wheat/Mountain Wheat Flour that will never exist.

I need a code change for the arrows.

It does not look like the code change will happen.

          So unfortunately it waits.

Again, I know it sucks, but there is not much I can do about it that would not get me fired.

Any chance of the application of the increased chance of skill up logic? I would think that'd be an easier change (apply existing code to a wider set of parameters) than implementing new recipes.

Is it possible to just implement these arrows without bane damage for now and implement it when the code is ready?

The arrows will NOT be made without a code change. Period.

As for other things, other things are possible, but I absolutely cannot promise any time-line other than I promise something to be done by next expansion.

I truly do understand that that sucks, and that the current path to 300 is very difficult unless you are a wood elf, but there is not much I can do about it,

I can tell you that there will NOT be a vendor purchase path to 300 from 282.

I will also say that Wood Elves will not continue to have an easy ride.

i know i've been gone 3 months but has ogre logic (no jokes) really wanted to go from 300 fletching to 282 fletching? :P

Dear Ngreth: please save my poor battered old wrists

                          Dear Ngreth:

I have been doing some math.

To go from 282 fletching to 295 fletching is 13 skillups.

Averaging one skillup per 30 combines, this is 390 combines. (It might take less; it might take more.)

On Nightmarewood Compound Bows, this requires:

                          A. 390 Nightmarewood Bow Staff
                          B. 390 Nightmare Arachnid String
                          C. 780 Innovative Bow Cam

                          A. To get 390 Nightmarewood Bow Staffs, you need to kill about 2000 treants, or buy them in the bazaar, 2 or 3 at a time. Nightmarewood Bow Staffs do not stack, so if you were to collect up enough for 60 combines, that would take every available slot in 6 10-slot bags. If you were to collect up enough for 390 combines, it would take every available slot in 39 10-slot bags: nearly every available slot on 2 mules.

                          B. To get 390 Nightmare Arachnid Strings, you need 800 Nightmare Arachnid Silks (losing a few to failures) and a tailor at ~160 skill. The strings do not stack, so you have to do the strings yourself, rather than partnering with another player; so the tailor has to be either you or your alt. To have 60 strings made ahead of time would take every slot available in 6 10-slot bags. If you were to collect up enough for 390 combines, it would take every available slot in 39 10-slot bags: nearly every available slot on 2 mules.

                          C. To get 780 Innovative Bow Cams, you need:
--c1. 800 Innovative Clockwork Bolts (dropping perhaps 5 per hour if you kill fast in Plane of Innovation)
--c2. 800 Innovative Clockwork Gears (dropping perhaps 2 per hour if you kill fast in Plane of Innovation)
--c3. 800 Jar of Clockwork Grease
------c3(a) to get 800 Jar of Clockwork Grease you need 1600 Clockwork Grease, foraged in Plane of Innovation.
--c4. a tinker at ~215 skill. Unless you are a gnome the tinker cannot be you; it must be another player or an alt.

                          ************

As many people have noted, this is far from a simple skillup path. But perhaps the worst part of it is c3(a).

c3(a). to get 800 Jars of Clockwork Grease you need 1600 Clockwork Greases. But in the middle of this you need to make a small clay jar in a pottery wheel, and then fire it in a kiln; this makes a container, and containers do not stack; you must now put this in an empty inventory slot, place 2 clockwork grease items in, and combine. This final product does stack.

As I count it, it requires 19 separate precise key- or mouse-clicks to make one Jar of Clockwork Grease, while standing in the right spot in Plane of Knowledge:

                          1. Left Click on Pottery Wheel
                          2. Left Click on correct recipe in Favorite Recipes
                          3. Left Click combine
                          4. Left Click or keypress autoinventory
                          5. Left Click Done
                          6. Keypress and hold left-arrow to turn just the right amount to face Kiln
                          7. Left Click on Kiln
                          8. Left Click on correct recipe in Favorite Recipes
                          9. Left Click combine
                          10. Left Click or keypress autoinventory
                          11. Left Click Done
                          12. Right Click on Jar in inventory
                          13. Shift-Left Click on Grease
                          14. Left Click in Jar slot 1
                          15. Shift-Left Click on Grease
                          16. Left Click in Jar slot 2
                          17. Left Click combine
                          18. Left Click or keypress autoinventory
                          19. Keypress and hold right-arrow to turn just the right amount to face Wheel

Of course you can mess up and turn the wrong amount, right click instead of left click, and so on. It's 19 clicks if you do it perfectly every time.

800 Jars of Clockwork Grease x 19 clicks = 15,200 clicks just to do this particular subcombine.

                          **************

This is a huge amount of carpal tunnel aggravation. The recipe is certainly complex enough without this step.

So: how about changing the recipe for Innovative Bow Cams to be:

                          Innovative Clockwork Bolts
                          Innovative Clockwork Gears
                          Clockwork Grease
                          Clockwork Grease

That still requires several hundred hours of farming to get the necessary ingredients in Plane of Innovation: 800 Innovative Clockwork Bolts, 800 Innovative Clockwork Gears, 1600 Clockwork Grease. But it would spare people the additional 15,200 clicks presently required to combine the greases into jars.

My wording was odd, but I said what I meant... As mentioned above one just has to read carefully. To be more clear.

There will be no vendor purchased path from 282 to 300.

                                15. Shift-Left Click on Grease
                                16. Left Click in Jar slot 2
                                17. Left Click combine
                                18. Left Click or keypress autoinventory
                                19. Keypress and hold right-arrow to turn just the right amount to face Wheel

Of course you can mess up and turn the wrong amount, right click instead of left click, and so on. It's 19 clicks if you do it perfectly every time.

800 Jars of Clockwork Grease x 19 clicks = 15,200 clicks just to do this particular subcombine.

                                **************

This is a huge amount of carpal tunnel aggravation. The recipe is certainly complex enough without this step.

So: how about changing the recipe for Innovative Bow Cams to be:

                                Innovative Clockwork Bolts
                                Innovative Clockwork Gears
                                Clockwork Grease
                                Clockwork Grease

That still requires several hundred hours of farming to get the necessary ingredients in Plane of Innovation: 800 Innovative Clockwork Bolts, 800 Innovative Clockwork Gears, 1600 Clockwork Grease. But it would spare people the additional 15,200 clicks presently required to combine the greases into jars.
I will actually consider this. I will not promise anything, but I will consider it.
