How about giving alcoholic beverages a damage absorption capability from the numbness of being drunk. We've all seen the strange things drunks can get through without a scratch that would kill a sober man.

It would give players the added challenge of balancing the drinking with their alcohol tolerance so they don't get too drunk. The stronger the drink the more damage absorbed. Say about 10 points absorbed for an ale or beer up to 50 for an MHB.

That would make our drinks useful and make alcohol tolerance a valuable skill.

Is just plain ridiculous :!: I mean touching on an email I sent to the developers, there are those of us that are casual players that cannot get into the uberguilds or get the uber gear required to go to these zones to get this stuff. And *if* it would be tradable, then people will sell it in the bazaar, and I am not going to go to any of the places you can go to to buy plat to afford what most people will want to sell them for.

I would disagree with making stuff from the high end pop zones as manditory components for something worthwhile for brewers.

Here's the problem, though: the entire basis for brewers' beefs is the PoP baked goods, which use these very same drops from some of the deeper planes. Not everyone is going to be able to craft these things. Keep in mind too, that anything that drops in PoN, PoD or PoI can be reached without getting flagged for a deeper plane; the only entry requirement is having PoP installed and being level 46. There are also alternative entry quests (about which I know nothing, because I have been to PoN once, and died promptly upon entry to a train of blood ravens, at which time I decided I would need to level a bit before returning - I have exactly 0 additional experience beyond PoN or PoT).

Maybe I went a bit overboard with the mixing and matching between the tiers, and I know I went way overboard on the whole liquidised thing, but I'm just trying to throw some ideas out there. I also probably require too many drops per recipe, but I'm a glutton for punishment.

You don't like my concept? Post some ideas. This is all bout the free exchange of ideas. Maybe we'll get lucky and the Yak-master will breeze by this thread someday (he is known to stop by the boards here on occasion).

From THIS post from a while ago i had this idea for some stat dinks along with my feeling on food vs drink in PoP

Looking and looking at the stats drinks vs the stat foods I really think there should be more stats drinks, better ones anyways. For stat food people can pick;

Misty Thicket Picnics (Stat food)
Hero Sandwichs (Stat food, also what I use)
Halas 10 lb meat pie (stat food)
Holy Cake (Resist food)

That is a short list not counting all the little other items. Then you can just use something like Iron Rations to keep the food longer.

For stat drinks people can pick from;

Grobb Liquidised Meat (Stat drink)
Kaladim Constitutional (Resist drink)
Qeynos Afternoon Tea (Stat drink, also what I use)

Granted drinks have a resist item to complemet the resist food and the QAT goes great with a Hero Sandwich but I really think there should be something like a "Liquid Hero Drink." There needs to be more stat drinks, and ones that don't have neg stats, sorry, but my Ranger needs all the WIS he can get. The "Liquid Hero Drink" could be like this;

Sub-combines:
2 hero parts and a vial of acid in Oven (Skill=100) makes Liquid Hero Meat (yield 2)
1 Justice Fruit and a water in Brew Barrel (skill=166) makes Justice Fruit Flavoring (yield 2)

Then in a Brew Barrel
1 Liquid Hero Meat
1 Celestial Essence
1 Justice Fruit Flavoring
1 Soda Water
1 Cask
1 Cork
1 Corking Device
Triv of over 250, yield 5, stats:

Ok, exactly why should you, as a casual gamer get the same type of rewards as someone who puts far more time and energy into the hobby we call Everquest?

Take me for instance, I would love to be able to make some of those nice party platters, but not having access to the plane of water guess what? I'm not gonna see them. Maybe I'll get lucky once, but I seriously doubt it.

Until I get into a good guild, and can get PoW access, I have to live with the fact that there is yet another thing I won't get access to.

Now if you are debating whether this is right or wrong, that is another story completely, but based on the way the game opperates in general you shouldn't have access to the same rewards as someone who has tier 3-4 access in PoP.

Now as far as stat drinks are concerned, I understand where many brewers are comming from, As a baker, primarily, I was happy to see new foods with PoP, but complaining about being able to make tempers which are far more profitable than anything I can bake, while comparing brewing to baking...I mean, really.

The market for food is pretty cut throat. It's a matter of a few pp ehre and there. I find I make money off of just a few items anyway. MTPs, HMPs, and the odd PoP recipe. I don't even make HMPs if I can help it, the market is so screwed up profit wise it just isn't worth it. MTPs are descent, sort of. You can make some profit off them, but I've made more money off GLM than I have off of MTPs. In fact, I burned through almost 30 stacks of them in the bazaar in a single day. I made more this morning to give me a total of 500+ as of 2pm EST Sunday. When I left for work 9 hours later I have under 300 left. I haven't even tried making QAT yet either, though I have almost 10 stacks of tea leaves banked. I'll be making a dedicated brewer real soon to breakm into the QAT/KC/PoP tempers market. There is still a good ammount of profit to be made, even if it isn't highly profitable, you can still make descent plat at it, as long as you are patient, and don't expect to get rich. At least not quickly.

I don't think the brewers want new recipes to make money off of. Personally brewing was my first skill to 250 and I LOVE to brew, with PoP and LoY we got maybe 2 or 3 new drinkable recipes, the rest all are just sub combines for other tradeskills. I love making exotic drinks and supplying them to my guild(as I do food) but with PoP and LoY(and most brewing in general) there just aren't many drinks with stats that my guildmates will drink. Most of them just by Fuzzlecutter because they don't see any reason for brewed stuff yet they're willing to get their baking to 200 so they can make a Party Platter for themselves and the crab legs and heros go like hotcakes to them. I just wish brewer's had some equivalent items for PoP to those fun items.

Whoa...hold on a second. What rewards do you think I am asking for?

*EVERYTHING* that I have seen for 'new' drink recipies has been hypothetically using recipies that involve NOTHING but tier 3 and 4 drops. The only thing *I* was more aiming toward, was to have drink recipies that were new, and were NOT all in tier 3 and 4 zones, that would allow for stats/usability from attainable sources to non-powergamers.

Sometimes I sit in the bazaar for hours, and nobody wants these tempers, or the services of brewers to make them. So either anyone that would need these tempers already has the multiple GM's in every tradeskill, or nobody on tarew marr wants them.

HAHAHAHAAAA....With less than a half dozen 'worthwhile' drink consumables, wait till you waste your time doing brewing, if you think baking is cutthroat.....
