Yay! Blood Sausage recipes exist now!

See the thread called The Hunt for Blood Sausage on the baking board for all the details! And yes darn it, you *do* have to read about every sub-combine I tried before I finally got lucky. So don't skip to the end!

someone else found the bean recipes too, so you all can start on makeing the newest ogre favorite beer and give some leftover muck to yer local bakers to make chewies too.

Don't forget makeing the coffee drinks also...

Also there were a few missed things this recipe round *sour bomb, whiskey sour bomb and a cream recipe for a gnomish/faydwer delight use in other drinks...

when and where that page is found I dunno...bug Ngreth, not me. I'm just an old retired drunk of a cleric who has to watch his friend occassionally blow up when he's not passed out...

I've been working on Brodder's Lost Diaries Volume 2 for the moment.
I'll have to go back and work on the coffee recipes next.

I tried a bunch of beans 'n ale combintions tonight, based on this theory:

        (2) 2x Stout 2x Brewed Dwarven Ale
        (1) [beans]
        (1) Yeast
        (1) Sugar Syrup
        (1) Cask
        (1) Cork
        (1) Corking Device
in Brew Barrel or Tanaan Brew Barrel

        I tried the following modifications:
        1) Switching out different types of [beans] -- spiced black beans, spiced red beans, spiced painted beans.
        2) Making it 2 cups of [beans] and 1 ale instead of vice versa.
        3) Adding an extra water to the mix.
        4) Removing the cork, corking device, or both.
        5) I even tried squishing all 3 types of spiced beans into the brew keg at once. I think I still have gunk in my hair from the explosion.

I have a few ideas for my next attempt but ran out of time this evening. They are:
        • Use just plain old uncooked 'cup of beans'.
        • Try cooking fresh beans using 2x Brewed 2x Stout Ale in place of water in Catbik's recipe and use those beans instead of the regular Spiced Beans.
        • Try some pre-combines in a mixing bowl to get "Ale Soaked Beans" or something like that which can then go into the keg. (A bad idea, but it crossed my mind... so why not list it?)

I am definitely learning toward Idea #2, but I need to go back to Crescent Reach and get some more dried legumes before I tackle that idea.

Just some random ideas for the brewers out there!

        Cheers,
        Ashwith

If I had to hazard a guess (and keep in mind that I'm a mere mortal so this is *only* a guess) then I'd say those pages were likely to come from Goru'kar Mesa and the drunken Satyr (whos name escapes me at the moment!) There are a series of brewing quests there that I began but never found the time to finish.

So many things to explore, so many things to do!

nah it was just missed by me... for now just look at what is in the books and assume a few might be missing... but the main point of the book (the been based brew) is in the game.

Also don't read too much into the recipes folks.
They were written at face value and Ngreth didn't try to get too clever. He's an ogre after all, you know.

Beans are Beans and blood sausage is blood sausage- see cooking threads for the means to make those things.

Brewing Bean Beers takes several steps - read the stories for how.

You are spot on that I was trying to read too much into the recipes, while... unfortunately... not reading enough!
I got to this paragraph and started working right after I read it!
I saved a few cups of each type of his pots of beans. I took a heavy dark malted ale, in this case Double Brewed Double Stout Dwarven Ale and combined it two-to-one by measure with the left over beans and added a shot of sugar syrup and yeast to each and put it into a keg in a nice cool spot to age. When the corks blew off the kegs I knew something had happened.
                (DUH! READ THE MANUAL, ASHWITH!)

I have now moved on and read the entire book. (Brilliant!)
I believe that this paragraph is the critical recipe that I need to work on:
Heavy Bean Ale or Bean Beer and Bits as I decided to label it for the ogres, is made with one pot of beans any flavor, 2 jugs of DBDSDA's or 2 Minotaur Hero brews, 2 measures of yeast, and a flask of sugar syrup. And Two Chopped portions of Spiced blood sausage. This produces anywhere from two to four small bottles of M&B. (Heavy bean ale).
However, these recipes do not combine:
DBDSDA (2) + Yeast (2) + Sugar + Spiced Blood Sausage (2) + Spiced Painted Beans in Brewing Barrel
DBDSDA (2) + Yeast (2) + Sugar + Spiced Blood Sausage (2) + Spiced Red Beans in Brewing Barrel
DBDSDA (2) + Yeast (2) + Sugar + Spiced Blood Sausage (2) + Spiced Black Beans in Brewing Barrel

Since the recipe says it produces 2 to 4 bottles of heavy bean ale, I thought 'Ok, maybe I need to add bottles!'

So I tried each of the above combines with a bottle.
Then each of the above combines adding two bottles.
Then each of the above combines adding a cask.
Then each of the above combines adding a cask and cork (just in case the reference to 'when the corks blew off the kegs' was a hint).

                Still, no go.
So while I understand that I shouldn't be reading more into the recipes than is given... I am definitely not sure how to continue without reading more.

I will try it with Minotaur Hero's Brew next instead of the DBDSDA.

My only other thought is maybe that I'm using the wrong type of sausage. The names of the sausages produced by bakers are 'blood sausage' and 'spiced blood sausage'. I have only been trying 'spiced blood sausage' since the recipe said 'spiced blood sausage' not just blood sausage. I'm out of drake intestines and pods of blood so I can't make more blood sausage at the moment. (I only have 2 x Spiced Blood Sausage and 1 x Blood Sausage to work with right now.) I'm taking Brodder's comment that 'blood sausage is blood sausage' to mean that there is no step to chopping the sausage. I'll go hunt some more drakes, beg a forager, and try switching regular blood sausages in as well.

Finally, please know that I write these messages as a history for myself. I frequently tradeskill late at night when the brain isn't working fully. They're a way for me to remember what I did, where I left off, and to keep me involved. *grins*

I in no way mean to complain about the recipes, nor do I expect a hint every time that I make a post! If people find my posts useful and can save some steps by skipping dead-ends that I've tried, then thats fabulous! But please NEVER EVER EVER take them as complaints. I'm really enjoying these quests and learning how to figure out recipes. I'm just a little blonde at the roots and sometimes things take me a little longer than they should!

                Cheers,

and a flask of sugar syrup
Maybe you need to do something to the sugar to make it syrup instead of just using it straight up?

Whoops! That was a typo. Actually, was already using Sugar Syrup.

Cup of Sugar (2) + Water Flask in Oven = Sugar Syrup

                    Good catch though.

Just tried these recipes as well:

Minotaur Hero's Brew (2) + Yeast (2) + Sugar Syrup + Spiced Blood Sausage (2) + Spiced Painted Beans in Brewing Barrel
Minotaur Hero's Brew (2) + Yeast (2) + Sugar Syrup + Spiced Blood Sausage (2) + Spiced Red Beans in Brewing Barrel
Minotaur Hero's Brew (2) + Yeast (2) + Sugar Syrup + Spiced Blood Sausage (2) + Spiced Black Beans in Brewing Barrel

                      These don't combine either.

And Two Chopped portions of Spiced blood sausage.
Maybe some way to chop the sausage? Try putting one alone in an oven and combining?

The recipe mentions a "pot of beans."

Maybe they need to be boiled up first? Beans + pot + water flask, or something like that. I wish I could help try some combines but I'm having no luck finding a Pod of Blood yet

Good luck, and nice job getting the Sausage done btw.
