This brings up another good point, it seems to me like all written texts in the game appear to be broken now in that they are readable by anyone and not just those with high language skill. Spoken languages are the same as they always were, but I am able to read the diaries (written in Gnomish) with a 0 skill in that language. I can remember this as far back as the PoP release, anyone have a longer in game memory than I do?

It was some time ago but when they revamped CT the books there were in another language and if you didn't have the skill you got gibberish when reading them.

So somewhere between then and now it was broken.

astianax: http://www.eqtraders.com/articles/ar...r=120010000000 The books I'm referring to are the source text for the Protection of the Cabbage quest. each volume 2-9 is written in a different and obscure language, such as Orcish (vol. 3) and Old Erudian (vol. 6). Part of the puzzle for that one was translating the books so that the recipies could be known... but now anyone can read them.

Good one Veldin... hadn't been to CT after it was revamped until just recently so i didn't have that reference. I know that all the books I have collected from there recently have been readable to me, just like everything else I've tried.

Actually I don't mind it being this way, it has saved me making language training mules for my main character, and saves all of us the points to train in the obscure guildmaster only languages. It was never announced though, and to my knowledge never acknowledged... and that part of it does bother me.
