If someone could enlighten me I would really appreciate it!!! I have foraged so many mushrooms and other baking items that do not seem to sell for any price that they ended up as vendor fodder or <gasp> destroyed!!! Now I am working on my baking and after a harrowing trip to CS to fish for cod and snapper and get the algae at the vendor I have a ton of supplies to try for more skill ups, saving nearly all of my forages now, way to many roots and pods of water, I switch my stat food out for a plain diet of roots, berries and fruit with the water while in towns and not in any danger to conserve the spendy stuff. I know I could do it easier in jp with patty melts but I am cheap, and the seafood salad is all forage or fished Items and the truffles only require one purchased item if I recall correctly.

If nothing else, you can open 'Eriste's House of Ohabah Truffles'
Just as long as she's not on Xev - I'm seeing those things going for under a plat now on the weekends and finding them for 1-2plat on the weekdays isn't all that hard - not having a steady ride to CS makes them not even worth my time as a baker now adays (and the fact that I'm a happy 216 skill at the moment).

Actually, I took my vendor offline because of undersellers. It made it not worth my time to bake at all. There were people that undersold a lot, and people that only undersold a little, but it all added up. Since it's a free market, people can price at whatever they want, so I didn't whine about it... I just quit.

I think I may be an underseller. on tribunal I sale my MTP for 7pp, next closest price is 8.5pp. one reason I sell them so low is, it was a very easy skill to raise. Another reason, it takes me about 200pp to make 400+ baskets, I have never spent a single pp out of pocket to raise baking skill. always used the proceeds of my sales to get more skill ups. it took me about 6 days from 0-250 to get baking. 0-191 took 2 hours. then about 200 mushrooms to get 202. Then I started MTP. every picnic I made, I put it up for sale for 7pp. even with a skill of 202, I the least MTP I would make out of 200 combines was 172. So I guess what I am saying is, I dont understand why others are charging so much for them when they are really easy to make.

please let me know if my reasoning is flawed.

You had some quirky mad good luck then my friend - from 211-216 it took my 200 combines and I only had a 10% success ratio and yet you are saying that you've had an 86% success ratio - hell, not even a 250 baker get's more than 60-70% success on MTP on average.

Or did you mean to say that you did this with HMPs?

I think this is about binding a hotkey to a keyboard key. In your options there is a place you can enter keyboard shortcuts, two keys per shortcut. Under your hotkey number 9, for example, is already the number 9. Under that, place what ever you use to turn left as the second key. Every time you turn left, you will do whatever is in hotkey number 9.

Keep in mind that you can't put anything unsafe in hotkey number 9, on any of your characters, if you do this, because they will all activate it every time you press your "left" key.

200 combines if all successful would yield 800 picnics. 50% will yield 400 picnics.. 25% success rate would yield 200 picnics.. so at 202 and making 172 baskets, I was getting less than 25% success rate.

I'm still intrested in the auto-forage thing. Aside from the illegal macros, how do you program it so that you will hit the key, forage, and then after 90 seconds recycle and forage again, without having to hit any extra keys?

Easy, use the /doability command to make hot keys.

/doability # (what ever the number of ability you want to practice)

For example, on my monk I have a hot key that looks like:

                      /doability 1 - this is sense heading
                      /doability 2 - this is forage
                      /doability 3 - this is FD

You can also dual map a key to do more than 1 function. Many people will map the 2nd function of their left and right arrows to do a tedius task such as sense heading or forage. Look under the keyboard settings in the options menu to see the keyboard map.

My bad - since there are so many recipes with so many variable results, I simply state how many combines I made successfully - not the number of items I got from those combines.

MTPs are not really easy for everyone to make. They take a lot of time, there are a large number of combines, and if you can't forage and don't have foraging friends or alts, you must pay someone else for your ingredients at a price that they set.

Like I said before, it's a free market, so I'm not telling people not to undersell... I just won't compete with it anymore, and I would never practice it myself. It drives the prices down universally for many different items, and devalues everyone's time and effort. If someone is already selling a tradeskill item that I know took a large effort to make, I am certainly not going to charge slightly less so that people will buy mine instead. I would (and have) destroy some of my stock or give it to friends (or newbies who have no chance of affording such items) before I would undercut another tradeskiller.

I think before the time runs out on my second account, I'll dust off my vendor and let her get in some adventuring before her days are done. :P
