    Just to verify...

You're ignoring the price of the foraged goods because they are 'free' to your classes right?

The 100pp for 100 combines is the store bought material.

They are all but impossible to attain for a poor wizard ;(.

      I just used his numbers.

If you hunt your own brownies, then all you need is 10 veggies and 1-2 fruit.

In the bazaar, I bet you could find all that for 5-6p. Or bribe a forager.

So 5-6 plat per 100 combines will up the cost per combine by 5-6 silver each, and the cost per picnic by 3 silver at 250 baking (50% success), or almost two gold pieces at the 5% success rate.

Sorry, no way that is possible. 3 plat each sounds about right.
As a 250 baker with baking spoon and sufficient CHA to get best prices on bought components, my make cost is also around 5gp per picnic.

I did a "Cost Analysis" on MTP's .... I will post some of it later after I get off of work... I considered (if I remember right) that everything was storebought at CRP (Current Retail Price) and I believe it came out to about 3P and change each. That was at 60% success rate. Since then my sucess rate has dropped (250 skill, 255 wis, Trophy and Geerlok... Go Figure  ) and now success hovers between 40 and 50% so cost would be a little more. I'll see if I can find it and add it here for those interested.

As a side note I have found that Guild members that can forage are more than happy to donate the Fruit and Veggies for a stack of MTP's. Also I do most of my combines in Rivervale so when Nillipus walks by I can scorch the little buggers buns and replentish my Brownie Parts.

ok, this weekend I did 300 combines. It costed approx. 490pp. I got 539 picnics. My baking started at 231 and ended at 239. I had 255 wis, and a geerlok. My cost per picnic was less then 1pp. It probably would have costed me less, but I had a lot of failures on the picnic baskets. This post is to correct my previous post in this thread.

A good way to save money on these is to check alchemy vendors for Woven Mandrake, if someone sold the woven mandrake to a vendor, the vendor only prices it at like a couple gp each, a huge savings compaired at the 4.2pp it costs to make 1 woven mandrake from buying the mandrakes. Sure you may not find the woven mandrake on vendors all the time, but it's bound to happen eventully.

IIRC the cost assuming 100% success, no cost for the foraged items and brownie parts, and that your time is worthless is under 1 PP per MTP.

                    With 100% success,
                    1 Fruit = 72 marmalade sandwhiches.
1 brownie part = 200 jumjum cake slices
                    so those costs are marginal.
1 vegetable = 10 jumjum salads though, and I've seen vegetables for
sale at over a plat in the bazaar.

On the lessor combines, 95% success is virtually assured,
but the best I've been able to do on MTP is roughly 50%
(250 baking, with a spoon and a geerlock) That's 2 PP per MTP.

If you figure your time at 1 gold per click, add another Plat,
for a grand total of 3PP. (Rember that each successful attempt produces 4 MTP)

On Terris Thule they sell for around 8PP, but they don't sell real fast.
(1 stack will last over 40 hours so you don't get much repeat business)
I did make 12K selling them over a period of about a month, but
the price is going down, and obviously it's also server dependant.
If you're thinking about getting into baking for the plat, check prices in the bazaar first.

                      Lilosh:
                      Girls play everquest?

My roommate and I do. She got me started. "So, how does this game work, anyway?" Famous last words.

                      Indubita:
Most of the people I play with are husband and wife or boyfirend and girlfriend. Ah the new saturday night date, EQ!!!

In my roomie's guild (VERY high end), there is one married couple that play, and three more couples getting together because they met through EQ.
/sniff. My bf hates EQ and makes that very clear. (But he's a programmer, so he sees the flaws in the game too well, and he hates the concept of monthly subscription. but someday i will win him over!!)

                      from Lilosh:
If you hunt your own brownies, then all you need is 10 veggies and 1-2 fruit.

Slight side tack: You know what would rock? And yes I know there would be virtually NO way to impliment this unless they started a container-in-container thing (yes i KNOW that would hellish to keep straight, but as long as I'm dreaming...)...

The most recent couple of WTF Comics have the little druid girl sitting in the bazaar selling stuff. If a/the/my character ("I") could make these Combined Packets of Stuff, and sell it like a marketing scheme. "Buy your MTP-Veggie Pack right here! All the veggies and fruit you'll need to make 100 Picnic combines! Only 15p!" (Finally a REAL use for all those little brown druid bags ^_^) Ok, that's the only thing i can think of right now. but I'm sure there are more.

Altho you know what I would un-ding 51 for?
Dairy Spoon + Filleting Knife + FW + I don't care what other expensive [tinkered?] ingredient (combine in a forge)
                      to get
Halas Pie Tool (or name it what you will)
Serves the purpose of both the DS and the FK, and takes only one space.

And for the first time, I find myself saying 'be happy you can sell your MTPs.' Yes, they are 250p each on sullon, but they don't move. I check it every time i walk in the bazaar, the same name still has 9 mtp. So, sullon is about to go through some fun times, because gosh darnit, i am gonna sell mine.....

                      ... when i get them.....

<<<<<Warning, mathnazi about to go apecrap>>>>>

Oh my god - the math logic I'm seeing here is making my brain hurt.

Since success is always going to vary, the cost you want to look at is per combine - that's all that matters.

Well I make 100 combines at a time and the materials cost me on average 125pp,
That is the correct answer - basically 1.25plat per attempt. Your cost per basket will depend on your personal success rate - I average 45% at 249 plus trophy (me dumb troll) which mean that it costs me about 5.5 gp per MTP.

223-235 plat i am at 250 so i usually end up making like 500-600 per run depending on that finicky RNG well quick off the top of my head thats 2.1276595744680851063829787234043 plat
Let's average you out to 550 successes - that's actually 230plat devided by 550 MTP = 4.2 gp per MTP.

The components for 100 combines cost somewhere in between 100p and 125p. 100 combines will produce 400 picnics with a 100% success rate.

Assuming 125p per 100 combines, each combine costs 1.25p. Since one combine makes 4 picnics, eah picnic costs 3g 1s 3c.
Woot! Someone with a calculator and/or math skills - go Azure!!!!!!!

You're ignoring the price of the foraged goods because they are 'free' to your classes right?

The 100pp for 100 combines is the store bought material.
Good god man, how much are you paying for veggies, fruit and brownies?!?!? You only need 10 veggies, 2 fruit and 1 brownie part - if 100pp is too expensive for you then bang out a WE ranger and XP in front of the GF ent to BB - you can forage and kill brownies in a fraction of the time it would take to earn that 100pp.
                        Cigarskunk!
No more EQ for me till they fix the crash bug.

I'm a Gm baker, and made a profit off selling these. I would also help out my guild mates with buying spells they could not afford, contribute to the guild bank for upcoming raids, and supply a great stat food to my guildies.

There is another Gm baker on the server I play on who decided to undercut me by half my price. My price at that time was 15pp each. I asked her why, and she told me I was ripping people off and she was going to continue to do this until I lowered my price. Most people sell these for 25pp or more. So I matched her price of 7pp, and guess what, she lowered her price again to 5pp. :x

So, do I give up on this or hope that she becomes tried of baking and move on to something else. I enjoy being able to help out my guild mates but am not making any plat atm to do so.

I'm making huge amounts of plat on MTP's at the moment...

I don't really pay attention to how much they cost me -but 125p per 100 combines sound about right... I do them in runs of 300 combines though. I purchase my brownie parts - never more than 5p each, or sometimes head over to Rivervale and kill Nillipus. A few times I've been able to buy winter chocolate for 1p. Just today I bought Woven Mandrakes off a trader for 1p each. I never pay for veggies or fruit since my partner is a druid...

I'm able to sell all the picnics I can make for 25p each... On 600 combines I've made about 13,000p in about a week and went from 207 to 228. I figure another 600 combines might get me to 250... and if it doesn't, it's still profitable.
