  • Misty Thicket Picnic's

Has anyone broken down the actual cost of making them and then selling them for a profit. Just wondering.....with my skill at 218 I made a few to see if I could, and then gave them to my guildies. But hey if I can make money back and then some...I'd be a happy girl!

      Short answer,

You can make money. There has been a thread or 2 on the cost of them, but it was minimal... just a lot of time and clicking.

At 218 with the 5% geerlok you should have a success rate that will make your cost I'm guessing about 4pp each or so... someone may be able to give a better figure including failure rate etc.

Well I make 100 combines at a time and the materials cost me on average 125pp, and I make between 190 and 210.

Which makes it about 5-6gp each.

This is with 250+spoon, 158 tailoring ans 122 smithing and buying all my expensive items from thurg, where I am ally, the mandrake root, eucalyptus and fennel.

And this takes me about 45 mins to make from start to finish.

I was curious as to the cost of MTPs as well, so I broke out the spread sheet and did a little calculating. My chanter's CHA is 135 buffed, so I think I'm getting best price on the ingredients. No cost is given to foraged items. Add to the final cost if you buy the foraged items. Assuming 100% success rate the base cost per MTP is 2p8g5s6c. Your final price will vary depending on your CHA for purchased goods and your success rate.

                Hope this helps.

Sorry, no way that is possible. 3 plat each sounds about right.

When I decided to make MTP's, I broke down the costs of components. It came out to be less than 3pp per MTP (not per combine) with a 30% success rate. This was calculated on a 100 combines with failures during subcombines, and 2pp (as a maximum cost) per foraged good. I'm a druid, so foraged goods really costed me nothing since I collected them while hunting. I find that the costs of making MTP's only goes up if I've had a ton of failures on the picnic baskets. When I did the calculation originally, I bought the components and wrote down the costs as I went along collecting the components. Costs may vary from person to person depending on failure rate on subcombines and final combines. These are simply my findings.

                            That sounds a bit wacky.

The components for 100 combines cost somewhere in between 100p and 125p. 100 combines will produce 400 picnics with a 100% success rate.

Assuming 125p per 100 combines, each combine costs 1.25p. Since one combine makes 4 picnics, eah picnic costs 3g 1s 3c.

To figure out your cost as a function of your sucess rate, divide .313 by your success rate. For example, at 207 skill with a geerlok, my success rate is 17%.

                            .313/.17 is 1.841p or 1p 8g 4s 1c per picnic.
