  • patty melts or fillets of ____

i currently have about 8 stacks of misc meat (bear, lion and wolf), my baking is 110. I plan on GMing tailoring.

would it be wiser to Fillet the meat and sell it to those that plan on GMing Baking, or use the meat too make patty melts and be set for food for a long time?

after all, once you have the frying pan, the only dif is cheese and bread (oh, what maybe 5 gold per combine)

the fillets triv at 143 and the melts triv at 191. however the fillets are meals, where as the melt is a banquet. Would my success rate be that bad off trying to make a patty melt at 110? would the chance of skilling up be better/worst?

i understand that i could fillet the meat, then cream sauce it. but i'm looking for ease of item gathering. as it stands now, i can fillet them where i am camped, to make patty melts, one quick trip into JP.

what prices do the fillets pull in the bazaar? how about patty melts?

I would personally make Fillets from the Wolf Meat first... then maybe the Bear & Lion Meat (which is vendor-purchaseable).

If you know someone who's making Halas Pies for skill-up, offer them your successes. You can usually count on getting a few pies in return.

Once you've trivialed Fillets, move on to Patty Melts.

I don't know what Fillets go for, but I sell Patty Melts for 1p each with great alacrity.

Selling Bear or Lion meat, even fileted, will be an almost invisible profit.

I would highly recommend using the meat to go up to 191 baking.

191 Baking skill is quite useful.

If it is Mammoth Meat, Filet it, Cream it, and sell it in the bazaar for 1p each.
If it is Wolf Meat, Probably Filet it, Cream it, and sell it. Probably 7g each.

If it is bear or lion, just filet it till 143, and resell it to the vendor.

After 143, Buy Bear/Lion Meat in SH, Cheese in JP, and do Patty Melts till 191.

Go for the Patty melts. Really is the cheapest way. the spices are too expensive. If I had to do it again now that patty melts are avaliable I'd do them till they triv instead of working on the filets and pies.

            EDIT: after the filetts triv

You can not POSSIBLY be serious.

I am shaking my head in disbelief.

You would rather use a recipe that requires TWO zones worrth of ingrediants to go from 0-191, rather then use a recipe that uses ONE FREAKING ingrediant to get to 143?

Fillet the bear and lion you have, it's vendor purchasable, so chances are slim any bakers would want to buy it anyway. Just sell it to a merchant when you're done. After you run out of those, make Patty Melts to 191. You're already at 110 you said, so with some luck filleting the meats you already have will get you close to trivial on them, then swap to Patty Melts.

As previously stated ~ if you have wolf/mammoth meat, fillet and cream it, then sell in bazaar or hook up with someone GM'ing baking.

if you're going for skill ups versus profit

if your going for skill ups versus profit get your self a spit and frying pan, either collapsable or not, keep the spit empty and fill up all your slots except 2 in sh with either bear or lion meat, i used lion being a druid. Head to JP and buy a stack of fresh fish off of the vendor nearest the banker to the right, and a stack of batwings off the vendor across from the banker, sit down open spit combine 1 fish + 1 batwing till 135, then when that trivs, you can fillet to 143, or take the plunge to patty melts, I did... depending on your successes versus failures and your remaining bank and inventory slots when you run out of meat you can just fill up with cheese except 2 slots and head up to sh, unfortunately there isn't a vendor in sh that sells both bread and meat so you'll need to buy meat from daesira across from binder, and run to furrytoes in shortside, buying relative amounts as slots open, or you could do mordrin's meats in thurg, he has both i think and you could fill up your spit as another bag because the oven is in the room there sorry to ramble hope it helps

well, i filleted the meat till it was triv, then grabbed me a port to GD ran to thurg, made a few ceramic linings (skill of 9, 40 combines 10 successes, 8 skill ups), then ported to JP and bought cheese and fryingpan mold. i'm now working on pattymelts.

i have a few extra fryingpans. I was surprized to have 6 out of 10 succeed ,with a smthing skill of 10, 4 skill ups.

i saw a post about the pans selling in bazaar for 200pp. Is that for real? what would be a good price to sell my extra fryingpans for?

I have sold a few utensils for 20p.

But only when someone is in dire need of a baking utensils.

10p might not be a bad idea.

People will occasionally buy baking utensils for outrageous prices.

I once sold a pie tin to a high lvl Ranger for 200pp. And I wasn't even TRYING to sell! She did an /auction WTB a Pie Tin for 200pp , and I gladly sold her mine.

As for fillets or patty melts.....go for the patty melts. Easier to sell to other players than the fillets, if you need to in a pinch.

I would go straight for patty melts. It took me approximately 3 runs of cheese (buying 3-4 backpacks worth) to get to 191 skill from 100 ish skill. The amount of skill ups i got was really good until I hit the 170s when it started to slow down. I also had thousands of patty melts to give out to friends.

As for GMing Baking, after patty melts, baking becomes a real chore. You are faced with Halas 10lb or Misty Pickets each of which comprise a billion subcombines. Hero sandwiches aren't bad in the subcombine department, but you need a halls of honor key to get the meat. Other than that, be prepared for some arduous foraging or hunting to get enough supplies to even warrant breaking out your collapsable spit and doing a few combines.

Personally after reaching 193 baking, I decided that enough was enough and I've moved onto brewing for a while.

400 combines and 23 skill increases? Out of curiousity, what's your wisdom and intelligence? I managed to do that a couple of weeks ago with less than half of what you did.
