OK - good info - many thanks all.

Yup, I had my ranger toon hunting the steamfront area for my brownie parts initially, but it was really feeling unproductive so I thought I'd ask about the more static camp of the brownie fort - NP - looks like a write off without support.

Consensus seems to be that illusion earth elemental works - excellent - many thanks - mana vials come to poppa!

I meant root/dot not kite. But the point of my post is that they aren't worth it given the number of hp,spawn time and the fact that some of them cast.

But thanks for being a smart ass and going over the finer points of root/doting
Excuse you! Don't snap at me thank you very much. I was not even talking to you (psst - other people read this board) I am not the only person on this thread that has offered suggestion in general on how to kill them. I am also sorry you said you kited them - excuse me for YOUR mistake /bow /grovel

Your point I disagree with. Just because you can't... (You might want to stop reading - the rest is not directed at you mmkay?)

I never had trouble with the 2 guards (they are the only ones that cast) and since I am apparently giving out lessons? Root them both - kill one while keeping the other rooted and you will break up the spawn time /wink wink Yes, I did this starting at level 54 Lesson and over...

You can kill the brownies as a low 50's druid, no doubt. I've done it many times. However, it is not worth it for the effort it takes. If you want exp, there are a hundred other places better in the game. If you want brownie parts they have added better places to kill them now (steamfont), or you can kill hundreds of other mobs that drop cash loot allowing you to buy brownie parts faster than you would get them in lfay.

            level 8.
Stay at max casting range from the guards and cast alliance on them, that should make you non kos then you can go in and use minor illusion to buy and sell from the merchants

Hmm, must have changed something because the 8th level faction spell didn't do it for me way back when.

Fortunately, I confirmed this evening that illusion Earth Elemental sends you straight to indifferent with these little @#$% so my issues with dealing with them socially are done.

As for hunting them - now that I've dealt with my baking, I can start leveling again, so watch out brownies, your parts are mine soon!

I usually get wolf form and mostly go to the Pixie tower and hunt pixies saving the dust for pixie cinn sticks, the Brownie Outcasts spawn and almost always have a part on them.

Lots of pixie dust that way !

as long as you've never killed a brownie. After 1 brownie kill, you'll still be KoS using Alliance.

                    Killing in brownie town

Since this has turned into a post about how to kill the brownie town, I will add my 2cp.

The brownie town is great swarm kiting xp for bards in their high 40's (if you're good at swarm kiting) or low 50's otherwise. Charm the guard, run him through town and back out and you should have a nice pack to kite out front.

If you swarm in 3rd person view, you can watch for Equiestrielle. If she adds at that level, just zone.

I shop for my parts exclusively in GREATER fay

I'm a 54 Wanderer and there is no WAY I would do all the trouble of those Lfay Brownie just to bake a cake! And I have had trouble finding plentiful spawn in Steamfont. But GFay is a goldmine! Tracking helps here, but the little buggers are just everywhere. They drop one part everytime with no fail. I keep my bank stocked. When I'm getting low I just make an afternnon of tracking these guys down. They don't cast, but they do run quick so stay sowed. I just zap them with a low level root with damage spell and they're dead in one hit, they have around 100-120hp. Added bonus is foraging Morning Dew while you're at it

Had great fun last night demolishing the brownie compound for about 3.5 hours. I looted 41 brownie parts, 65 spiderling silks, and 9 morning dew (not to mention 20% AAXP at a 90AA/10XP split). The brownie guards were fairly simple to kill for this 54 enchanter:

                        1. Cast some type of Rune/Berserker Spirit on yourself
                        2. Mezz one brownie guard, the other will run to attack you.
                        3. Run behind the hill to put some distance between you and the mezzed brownie (in case you get a Memory Blur from the mezz spell)
                        4. Get hit once to activate your dual-wielding, hasted pet
                        5. Back off, Tash, then cast your best slow on the mob (stun first if he sticks to you instead of your pet)
                        6. 2 stuns, nuke, 4 stuns, nuke, then just stun until dead (refresh Berserker Spirit if it falls, Rune should stay up the entire fight)

That had me ending the fight with about 70m and between 90-100% health (depending on if Rune/Berserker Spirit fell). The first brownie guard would be dead before the other brownie guard's mezz broke (Entrance is 96 seconds). If the Memory Blur effect occurs, you can med up back on the hill and kill the other brownie guard at your leisure. Once the spawn is broken, you should pull brownie guards with your best slow to minimize damage to your pet. After the 2 guards are dead, you can let your pet mow through the 3 regular brownies, the brownie farmer, and the 2 spiderling spawns (which spawn three times as fast as the brownies). Don't even bother with the merchants, they don't leave corpses.

It was a nice relaxing evening with plenty of time to do other tradeskill stuff during downtime. I even had a guildie come by to have me enchant some mithril, with minimal loss of time. Great fun. :-D

                        Spell line-up:
                        Entrance (mezz)
                        Berserker Spirit/Rune
                        Dementia (dd)
                        Shiftless Deeds (slow)
Gate (in case Equestrielle happens to spawn)
                        Color Flux (stun)
                        Color Shift (stun)
                        Tashania

Then walk into compound and upheaval the whole town, then pick off the vendors that arn't killed by the blast. upto 6 brownie parts in 10 mins and then forage for 20 mins while they spawn again, repeat and relax

If you are a tracker or can get one the Gfay borwnies are easy, There are 23 of them level 4ish. Make a newb ranger to farm. They respawn very quickly from my experience and are usually around the BBM zone in.

                              Hope this helps too.
