What a load of horse dung! If you don't like the fact that Verrant made mammoth meat a critical item for the baking trade skills, take it up with Verrant not the bakers trying to further their skill. From my experiences in EF, I'd say 98% of the people hunting mammoths are doing so for the tusks or the meat. Point in fact is that no one ever hunts the goblins there that are similar in level to mammoths and wooly mammoths. If they were truely hunting for xp, they'd kill them too. Any xp is just a bonus because they are really only after the tusks.

Secondly, I read on this board a couple of places that giant spiders and giant wooly spiders were place holders for mammoths and wooly mammoths respectively. I've gone there, and there wasn't a mammoth on tracking anywhere. I've ooc'd for people to kill the spiders and next thing you knew was that there were mammoths everywhere - more than enough to go around.

Just a small point about hunting mammoths over goblins, the difference is that mammoths are animals and goblins are not. If you’re a druid soloing in Everfrost you aren’t going to be hunting goblins because you can’t fear them. As a druid I hunted there for xp. In theory it was a great zone for druids, except for the crowds. It was outside and wide open, perfect for fear kiting. And the fact that the mammoths could drop tusks that I could sell and buy my spells didn’t hurt either. It was, in fact, THE best place to hunt at that level to get xp and make a few coins for spells and equipment. Now that the bazaar exists there are other ways of making money, but it’s still really nice when you can hunt for xp and get sellable drops at the same time.

I only ever went to everfrost once for mammoth meat. Drops were abysmal for me. I went to Eastern wastes and I got meat off almost every mammoth. Thumbs up for EW from me

          Growing up in EF

As the title reads, my main is a Barb warrior so hunting wolves and mammies is second nature to me. What I do now 65 levels later. I use my 31 ranger to do the farming. Baking and smithing are my two main tradeskills, btw. I refuse to pay 15pp -20pp per leather padding (price in Vaz)

          Wolf Meat-

I do a loop from ramp to Bandl (the NPC Guard edge of tundra). Back and forth till i get all my backpacks full of silk, meat and pelts. I kill everything to spawn wolves. Although, I have a theory, which I'll look into proving sometime... I think skellies share the same spawn table with wolves. In a few hours I can have a few stacks of wolf meat. No need to have track. If you are using EQAtlas map the route I take is: From #1 to #3 to #5... and back again.

          Mammoth Meat-

It has been my experience that the drop ratio of the calves is higher than the mommas. This from growing up killing both. As for the PH of mommas, its the spiders. Yeah its frustrating. Aldo they spawn at two points in the tundra over by Perma (which is at times crowded) and on the SE corner of the tundra (past the IG statue) in this area you will rarely see anyone hunting them... they path from the corner towards South Tower. On a good day I can get about 5 meats ( :x ) But I also check every vendor in Halas, QH, SFG, and JPF... and have gotten quite lucky. Not to mention having the luck of having 3 accounts in the household (and 3 computers) we always have a bazaar trader up and I check as often as possible for these items.

          Hope this helps someone
