Since you're trying to work up the "root" angle I think there are a few Velious and prior that you are overlooking.

    Trakanon Fern Root
    Emerald Palm Root
    Lichen Roots
    Moss Root
    Black Root
    Plains Root
Sweetened Mudroot (normally for Druid/Ranger Epic)
Chilled Tundra Loot (normally for Druid/Ranger Epic)

I can't think of any other roots in the game that were from the Velious or prior eras. Most of the ones listed above are actually Original/RoK, so would fit better in with the Broddar's Diaries time-frame.

Hum ... I'm wondering if we should try Mt. Death Mineral Salts? It's also a Kunark-era drop, though honestly, the flavor of the recipe suggests that it should be from the old world.

Wll, he DID say sea salts, I would assume that he ment use sea salts, not Mt. Death mineral salts. After all, that stuff is used in poisons, why would anyone willingly consume it?

Anyone tried a Wok? It's used to fry stuff up in.

Hum. Good point; I must have had my dunce cap on when I posted that.

Anywho, in an attempt to make up for it ... Wok is a good idea, but I'd also try a plain old pot -- IRL, you deep-fry chips or whatever in a pot. As crazy as it sounds, it might also be worth trying a non-stick frying pan.

while farming hollowshade for shadowscream parts a couple days ago, i got "kelp salts" off the turtles there. i believe it was no drop and had the tradeskill tag but im only 95% positive on that.

                  pssst folks simple hint...

                  It is common item/forage/bought stuff
                  It is a multi-step.
And again if a dwarf wouldn't eat it nor a gnome, it's not l;ikely to be in any recipe that I might create or have submitted to SOE/EQ.

How you put it together, that's debateable...but then again, how are we to know that i it is indeed in game?

Fish n Chip recipe might have clues...

Any it may just be that the proper cooking utensil(s) have not been made or found or aren't in game yet...

                  Gnomish cooking pot...Hmmm
You tinkers think ye might come up with a frying pot? or Frying kettle? aka deep fryer?

LIke I said some folks jump the gun on some of my comments...some go way way too far and too deep.
I am clever, but ****ations I'm not mean, less yer a stinking Inkie...

BTW- not sure tempura batter is even in game...
But it'd be simple to make...
                  Rice + motar&pestle = cup rice flour
Soda water + cup rice flour = tempura batter...

That'd be easy to implement and would allow tons of side and sub recipes of current ones in game.

beer batter would be just as easy...
Beer + cup flour + aviak egg...

isn't there already a beer battered recipe in game?
have you tried variations of that with other items?

Don't go nuts. Discuss first on boards before commiting time in game please...hate to ruin a night of your time gaming.

But I sent in old logs/emails/and recipes to moordoc(sp?) talked with Niami (Pm's) and all I can say...is I'm waiting like you are.
I know what I did write with them, I know what was on the table for production...and we all know most of that got in game...and some is still not completely figured out yet.

Patience and keep up the hunt...

Well, I know that beer braised (meat) is (meat) + short beer + spices.

Perhaps do this with a root?
