I must be bugged or something then. When I use the illusion potions I see NO faction changes whatsoever. Doesn't matter where I've tried. /shrug

Evidently you are bugged, or the mob saw the new illusion in the same way. It is probably the later one.

      Its worked for:

My wood elf druid, to have better faction in Kaladim = Essence of dwarf

My Dark elf cleric, to have better faction in kaladim = Essence of High Elf (she was non kos and indiff already with warrior guild, High Elf form took her to KINDLY)

Though the dark elf was still indiff after doing some scarab armor quests, she suddenly got the information for the BP where before the guy said to raise her faction more (while she was also at indiff) So she was now a higher indiff)

What you may be experiencing, is max low faction with a merchant. You can be dubious to a merchant in an original form and STILL be dubious to the merchant in some form you figure it would like. This was the case with my dark elf cleric. It was dubious with merchants of kaladim, had raised stormguard to indiff. In high elf form it was STILL dubious to merchants of kaladim but Kindly to stormguard.

The reason for this may be twofold, either the merchants are max dubious, since they don't go below dubious, or it only READS as dubious while you may be somewhat in the "hole."??? I've never tried to figure it out. Actually there is another possible though, elves are not exactly held in esteem by the dwarves from the get go anyway and a dwarf potion may have made her more than dubious with the merchants.

Finally she has only got merchant of kaladim faction raises from the warrior guild turn ins of cb belts and the scarab armor she quested, while she has HUGE plus stormguard from tons of CB orc killing/quests/etc.

So I don't know, but its very likely if you try the form on other mobs you'd see a faction change.

        Neriak and Humans

A human druid of Tunare using Essence of Dark Elf was slain quickly in Neriak Commons. She was trying to do a charm turn in, and it didn't work very well at all. Her religion was just too much of an issue :? I now auction off essence potions with a diety disclaimer.

            Iskar Potion

I, Barbarian/Tribunal, tried to start turning in Bone Chips for faction. Thought I would use potion to get me started... They still showed ready to attack... and did. So, with no negetive faction hits, the potion did not get me up far enough not to be KOS.

Cabalis is an evil city for faction.. and i don't mean evil evil, i mean stupid evil.

The faction adjustment for religion is very high here, and the guy you give bone chips to to fix it is near Crusader Quarg.. the only crusader that's on shaman faction. Shamans start on the far bottom of the faction tables for people, and are the hardest to raise.

In the old world zones, religion played a larger percent of the faction hits... and when Cab was put in, that was increased for that city. Unless you activly work up factions, expect opposing religions to get you killed reguardless of illusions. A Tunare lover in neriak will be kos, as is a Inny worshipper in Felwith.

Once at ally, an illusion to a kos race is usually safe.. should move you to the amiable range.

This is the reason that chanters are told in creation guilds to be agnostic.

For the wine quest in neriak 3rd gate, only 2 of the npc's in the building are on a neriak faction.. one is a vendor up on the balconey, and the other is the turnin guy himself.. both on neriak vendors faction (even though he has a necro pet, he is not on necro faction). Everyone else in the library is on um... beta-nuetral? i think. Been a long time since i actually had to remember that. If you're gtg wth the neriak vendors, you can do the wine quest.

On that note, you may want an invis or port out also. Guards in the FQ and Commons zoens are on dread guard inner; guards in 3rd gate are on cleric and sk factions... which the wine quest does not help with. A few towards the path to the church may be inner guard faction, but then you have a few roaming necros.

You can do this at any starting faction, because vendors are never less than dubious, and dubious is enough for the quest npc to accept the red wine. Just remember you must be apprehensive in order to buy from a vendor, so some work will be necessary before you can purchase your own red wine in Neriak. Moraganth is right, those in the library that aren't vendors are on beta neutral (always indifferent to everyone) so the library is perfectly safe no matter who or what you are. Step outside the library while visible, however, and you're fair game for guards, necros, rogues, and various other unsavory types....
