  • faction and illusion potions

i have read the LoY potions thread and jus thought i would make this its own thread.

Is there any definite answer to the question: "do the potions change your faction in old world zones?"

for example i am a barbarian, if i used the iskar potion, would i be KOS in cabillis or not?

Or, pick any race combinations. I really am interested to see if anyone has tested these out

      Some practical examples:

An iksar illusion potion took me, a barbarian shaman, from threatening to kindly to the Cabilis guards. I was still scowling to the crusaders (shadow knights) but I'd never taken any positive hits to them, so that's not surprising. It took a whole lotta sarnaks and goblins and frogs to get to threatening with the guards in the first place.

With dark elf illusion I went from dubious to warmly with Toxdil, the dark elf vendor in the West Freeport tunnel, and down to apprehensive or dubious with all the other inhabitants of West Freeport (who range from apprehensive to warmly). I was surprised none of them went kos. But Giz Dinree, the dark elf near the ocean entrance to the rogue guild in East Freeport, was still scowling at me in dark elf illusion.

Would these be helpful in fixing faction you screwed up (for example on a PoG raid)? Would this be a way to make Pandos non-kos so I can shove muffins down his throat?

          I believe not.

The faction hit from PoG is a GIANT negative to your actions.

Clerics of Tunare are still KoS after that hit, so changing into a High/Wood Elf probably won't help you.

            Re: faction and illusion potions

I am a barb shaman, diety The Tribunal. I did the Cabilis bone chips quest until my faction with Legion of Cabilis, Cabilis Residents, Crusaders of Greenmist, Swift Tails and Scaled Mystics was maxed at indifferent. Then, I used an Iksar Illusion potion in Cabilis, and that raised my faction with Scaled Mystics from indifferent to ally.

I am amiable to dwarf "merchants of kaladim", in my normal wood elf form. In dwarf potion form I was kindly. Every other dwarf faction was also raised by one step, save the ones I already had at allied (like stormguard)

Both my dark elf cleric and troll sk were scowl to frogs in gukta, but were indiff in wood elf potion form. However, the new zone of gukta is the first I've seen that doesn't ALLOW faction raising while in a changed form alone. They are indiff, like my wood elf druid is, yet the npcs for faction quests still dissed them ("how dare you show yourself..." etc)

They also get dissed when doing the invis/hide trick. My wood elf druid, when hidden STILL could do the quest. So their potions will allow you to shop and hang out, but not raise your faction if you were KOS before.
I'm guessing this is to prevent a troll from hanging out in frog city as a troll.

If you first got a leg up with pandos, THEN used the potion, yes it would help. Like my dark elf cleric first did wolf form which is a BETTER raise than the halfling one use mask until she was dubious in the halfling one use mask. Then she no longer needed a druid's help. Finally she was dubious in her own dark elf form a bunch o' muffins later.

Two others raise the exact same factions, the lantern guy near pandos is one (probably not a lot of help) but the other is often missed. Its Styria fearnon in Ocean of tears. I'm not sure if she is on a different faction from Pandos or not, but giving her a bracer of erolsi and/or those lore pirate earrings will raise the same factions. So if you come over from the pirate island with one bracer and one earring, that is two. If lucky, like I was, you find a bunch of the pirate earrings on the elf vendors there. They are lore, but you can buy one and walk ten feet away and give it to styria then buy another.

While my wood elf was fixing some factions it bound on sister island and popped back and forth with the erolsi bracer and an earring for styria, something different when bored of muffins.

AH good idea, never thought of doing that more now for their meat drops!(pirate camp in OOT)

Thanks! That's a great suggestion.. considering I kill the Captain and his gang for meats. (The little gnome is a great source of gnome meat, and the DE drops meats occasionally. The captain still hasn't given me any, so I don't think he will.)

thanks all for the great answers and experience's. I hope others try some other cities. For example a good race trying to get into the DE city using the DE potion.

As an ogre shaman my faction went from dubious to indiff with human illusion in Katta.

Helped a guildie's warrior (no sneak ability) do the wine quest in Neriak 3rd quarter without having to kill a single mob. Granted, he needed an invis into and out of the 3rd gate but it was worth the effort.

An agnostic half elf who has taken no DE faction hits can buy from dark bargainers in DE form and it not KoS anywhere in Neriak (excluding guilds).

This might be a slight derail, but you all seem so knowledgeable that I must make use of it.

I've been hated by the clerics of Tunare and would like to repair that faction, if only because I'm a worshipper of Tunare myself and have occassionally wanted to go into Felwithe.

I tried feeding muffins to Pandos but my methods didn't work. If I wasn't invis, he attacked me right away. So I stood outside aggro range and charmed him and he'd take the muffins that way, but I didn't get any faction adjustments. I had another bard friend go with me and he charmed Pandos this time and the same thing happened - he'll eat my muffins but he won't give me any faction adjustments.

I figured wolf form won't help me since I am KoS due to my actions, not my race or deity. On a whim I tried my illusions and they made no difference. I only have masks or items with illusions for dark elf, erudite, iksar, werewolf, elemental, and barbarian but he attacked me in all forms.

I tried timing my hand-ins with the pulse of my invis song and managed to feed him ONE muffin that resulted in a faction adjustment that way, but timing the pulses is horrific at best and if I fail, I have to train him to the zone since I don't want to hurt my faction worse by killing him when he attacks me.

                          Any suggestions?

I suggest you go kill in crushbone until you're non-KoS to Pandos. (It's long and boring, but it works).

After done, i decded to mess around with some newbies (well lvl 15-20's) runnin round town and drank a troll potion. I went from max ally to amiable with the guards. Cool i thought, lemme go scare some newbs lol.

Running around to various peeps and getting the "akk a troll!" and "WTF! how you get in here?" tells and says i was jus about done terrorizing hallas, so i go into the bank to do, well, some banking. So i run in and start doing the stun spin lol, you have been hit for 138, you have been hit for 168, etc etc etc etc. AAKK!! what the hell? who is attackin me? I turn to see that the banker, and ONLY the banker was whacking me!

I kinda stood there a sec dunbfounded, then saw me health was at 50% lol, well i aint gonna kill the banker lol. Run like hell lupo! Made it out and he followed into the water and all lol.
