    Mod items are usefull for when making items that are ABOVE base skill. When you're making something that trivals below your base skill, mod item wont be needed since it wont help with the the fail or success rate. I have my trophy equipped just for the other stats when making some potions to sell.

      That statement isn't enirely true. Up to until 173, you have less than a 95% of success making items with the same trivial as your skill. If you have a geerlok, you only need 145/6 to max out your success chances on an item with the trivial of your base skill.
