I think the Philter of the Wolf spells may be missing the "Required Level" altogether. I'll test on one of my bazillion mules today.

      SoW Potions....

Diffrent levels of sow potins were un-needed, they scaled themselves already. Previous sow potions was like a sow caster casting on you of the same level you were, except you always got the max 36 minutes.
Toss back a sow potion at level 10 and someone else tosses one back at level 30, the 30 level character is going to smoke the level 10 character with the old ones.
Why then make 5 or 10 diffrent sow potions for the scale effect??
I created a shammy for 2 reasons: 1; the utility buffs they get are ausome; 2, to make potions. I cheared the moment they made alchmy non-level required, now I'm contemplateing weather or not it's worth staying in the business.

Honestly I think they should have gotten some input from the comunity before they did this and then LISTEN to it.

Those patches that have the * out bside parts of them to denote a request fromt he EQ comunity are either them just saying that to make us feel better or they are fibbing to us. Oh, they did take one of my suggestions, I don't remember which one it was. I sumitted it about 10 times before Luclin came out....came out after DoN or DoD though.
That last part was more of a general EQ ran than an alchmy rant, sorry....

But not with the new ones.

There is about a 5% difference in speed between the different levels (i.e. Level 2 is 5% faster than Level 1). This was tested on my hubby's Level 65 enchanter. All of the potions had a different run speed despite the level of the caster. So, that being said, you will still run faster being level 50+ if you throw back a level 5 potion than if you throw back a level 1 potion.

Hope this helps and doesn't add to the confusion.

So is there a level requirement? Can a level 1 char drink a level V sow potion?

There is no level requirement. The new potions basically=faster sow for twinks.

There appears to be an up and down to the "caster level" of this.

One up side is that a lvl 1 who use a lvl V potion will now get the full effect as if it were cast by a lvl 50+ ASSUMING this is correct and also not an unintentional bug that will be nerfed.

Downside is that the lower lvl I-IV are not going to be worth anything to players for use and are just for skil-ups.

i would hae to disagree with greez i am selling the lower lvls much faster than the higher lvl sows because they are so cheap to make and sell at such a low cost lots of players buy them for twinks and alts because it doesnt matter how many they end up using because they are so cheap

They are selling because the consumer has no idea how the effects work thanks to the lack of information on the description in my opinion. They see the effect "Spirit of Wolf" on PotW I, and the cheap price, but have no idea that they are buying a SoW off a lvl 10 player.. (unknown137 =10 ).
