      Cornering The Market

If the prices listed are 'too low', why not do something about it other than whining? It doesn't take alot of cash to buy out the suckers who are trying to 'ruin' your market and resell their stuff at your prices. Since this isn't Real Life, these are perfectly fine and legal tactics. I know a few people that buy all Condensed Shadow Tip Arrows that are selling below their price and resell em at their price. I think this is about the best thing you can do towards assuring that the prices you feel are 'correct' get enforced. It does require you to be actively overseeing your trade empire and having the investment cash in order to take advantage of thse opportunities, but if you're selling your tradeskills for profit anyways, saving a certain amount aside shouldn't be a problem, I'd imagine. Again, the best way to answer folks flooding your market with lower prices than you want is to turn their low prices into your profits.

Whether its possible and realistic to buy out the 'under-priced' depends on a few different factors, including how much money you have available, the rate of sale of the item in question, the number that the 'offending' party has up for sale, and finally the speed at which the 'offender' can replace the sold items.

If you, for example, buy all 650 of the Grobb (should it be Gukta now? ) Liquidised Meats at 3pp in the bazaar and reprice them at 6pp (or whatever price you look), its probably worth knowing beforehand whether or not you're going to sell out before the person you purchased them from comes back with another 650 samples to sell.

Because if they're back before you sell out, people aren't going to buy from you, and you're losing money.

Hark! Who is that, prowling along the fields! It is Draggar De'VIr, hands clutching two hardened pitas! He cries gutterally: "In the name of Thor the Mighty, I hereby void your warranty, and send you back to God!!!"

            Interesting...

I am on Stromm and have seen all of these scenarios play out.

I am trying to GM pottery. Of course there has to be 1 person who is also trying to GM Pottery (or just make PoP pottery stuff) and keeps dumping Opal Encrusted Steins at 15 pp, below cost.

Well, I am running almost 100% success rate and still at 207. With over 500+ steins across mules, I will not play that price war. It isn't fair to me, or to others. I feel 25 pp is a fair price.

Interesting enough, I have sold out of my steins even when this individual is on. Perhaps it is just Stromm, but I carry several items for the PoTC earring quest and usually sell out of my stuff.

My theory? It is common knowledge that the individuals crashing the market on tradeskills are either resellers or in an uber guild (heading toward Aid Grimel). I found it interesting that I sold out of my Blessed Fishing Poles when I was 200+ than the competition.

I suspect it is only on Stromm that this occurs, since it is such a new server. But I keep reminding myself to be patient with my wares. I bough 10 Solstice Robes at 500. I haven't been able to sell any of those back because every time I do, someone drops the price by half. Quantities are too great for me to buy/resell, but I will keep taking my time. I hope for 2k per robe, which for the most part seems to be the normal, stable price. But if I get 1K or 750, I still will win.

Chances are I will need to take the time and actively sell them, as opposed to letting them sit on my merchant. Obviously I hope they sell, since the profit margin for me is higher than if I sell 10 steins at 25 pp. Said funds are then used to continue increasing my skills.

It's nice to make money, but given that I sink 95% of it back into tradeskills (the other 5% to buy spells), a profit is almost 'required' to continue advancing. At least to me, it is much safer than dying to that green mob

Best of luck to everyone! Here's to market stability!
