Royal Kromrif Blood: Bought it for 8 gp. Sold it for 2000 pp. Did this twice. This extends to anything that someone needs for a quest. Know your quest items, especially for popular quests, and you can make a killing. Black marble cost 157 pp from a vendor, but nobody in the Bazaar will sell it for less than 700, and it always sells.
The heck? I thought it was 2 copper from a vendor...I know I've found them on there at least 3 times.

(And yes, they're 157p. The royal blood is 2cp or so, I hear".

I once found sixty some odd star ruby encrusted steins on a vendor. Bought him out at 30ish pp each, gave away a few to friends, sold the rest in the bazaar for 200 to 250pp each, made over 10k off of that.
Heh. I just got 20 Geerlock automated hammers off of a vendor last night. I kept one for myself and have the others up for sale in the Bazaar. I'm pretty sure he had more on him, but I didn't have any more money with me. I'll have to go back and check if/when I sell all of the ones I have.
Hmmm, let me see what I've managed to sell...oh wait, never mind, my log is huge from August 30th 2002. Anyone got a small file I can use to only take out the "Blah blah purchased xxxx for yyyy" part and paste it to another file?

Kronepsis, creative use of the replace function in MSWord (under edit, near bottom) and a little work in Excel will do all that for you. This is what I do:
Open the log in (or copy it to) MSWord and open the Replace function.
Click the tab for "more" on the "Find and Replace" window.
In the "Find What" field, type in "purchased ".
In the "Replace with" field type in "^t".
Click "Replace all".
In the "Find What" field, type in " for ( ".
In the "Replace with" field type in "^t".
Click "Replace all".
In the "Find What" field, type in ").".
In the "Replace with" field type in "" (as in, field is empty of anything including space characters).
Click "Replace all".
Note: the space characters in the quotes above are intentional; that way they are removed too.
This will have inserted two "tabs" and removed some text. Then:
Open an Excel file and highlight at least columns A-C.
"Select All" and Copy from the Word doc.
Right click on the highlighted section of the Excel file and Paste.
You should see 3 columns of text if you make the columns wider. Then:
Highlight column A (right click on the "A") and "Delete" it.
(You will now have nothing but items and prices ad they should be listed in columns A & B.)
Highlight columns A & B.
Click on "Data" (on top, to the left of "Help" and "Windows" and select "Sort".
Sort by column A, Ascending.
Now, everything is listed in alphabetical order and you can condense things if you want to. I do condense things and then copy the text and "Paste Special", "Unformatted Text" to the log file. The "tabs" are kept when I do this so then I can condense the new log entries and the old entries as new ones come in.

I think the sole success I've had at vendor farming was locating a single Iron Oxide months and months ago. It doesn't matter whether I visit the well traveled merchants or the rarely visited merchants, there never seems to be anything out of the ordinary on them.
By far, the best is PoK. All the merchants can turn up a great bounty. Last night, I was able to purchase over 25 Opal encrusted steins for 3pp each, selling them now for 30, or I could probably sell them quickly for 25 each. A lot of people sell or TS in PoK who don't want to bother will selling everything they make, so they dump it on the nearest vendor.
Freeport Merchants, Desert of Ro and Commonlands. Most true newbies start off with something simple, and most start in Freeport. Oasis will also have the occasional essence of sunlight.
Windmill merchants in Steamfont. Many times I'll find mercury, iron oxide, drop of grease etc.. (elemental & rogue clockwork drops nearby) for a few gold, sell for 25-50PP each at the bazaar.
Everfronst will occasionaly turn up some bear skins and spiderling silks.
North Karana, for that rare opprotunity to purchase a HQ lion skin for 3GP (I did once, and didn't realize the value, sold it in minutes for 150PP). On a side note:
East Karana is usualy not good luck, unless you're very lucky. Most people who hunt there are hunting for TSs and won't sell the good stuff back to merchants. IN one year of merchant mining, I've only had luck there once or twice (once got 10 stacks of spider silks for roughly 15PP)

Well reading the stories here, I'm making somebody(s) happy on Drinal. I'm one of those people that after a long session of hunting/killing when its way too late (or early), I just grind anything I'm carrying into a merchant.
First few days of hunting in grimling tunnel before the AC zone I sold everything to a merchant. Acrylia (all shapes and sizes), Acrylia Etched Runes, Windstones (16 Plat to a merchant BTW), Weapons, It all went to a merchant. Then I did some reading and found out that Windstones and Acrylia are needed for tradeskills and sell in the bazaar for good money.
I distinctly remembering getting some essence of sunlight yesterday off of a sand giant in Oasis. That went to one of the merchants in PoK.
Makes me warm and fuzzy on the inside knowing that I might have made somebody's day.
