Mwahahaha, now I know how to wake up Dandi in the middle of the night! I wonder if werewolf form would have the same effect. *grin*OHH familiars...I was was actually awakened in the night because someone had parked their familiar right next to me while I was afk Trader overnight and I could hear the flapping all the way across the room in bed. I had to get out of bed and go over to turn my sound off. I was so not happy.
Personally, I wish they'd add a command like /shop or something that opens a vender or trader's inventory. Would be so much easier to just do /target Soandso, /shop.

Oh how convenient you posted this rant Mileron. I was going to do it myself if you hadn't done so.
I am a hobbit and I get so sick of larger races shoving their way in front of you. I always try to park close to the front of the ledge, but sometimes leave room on accident. But it doesn't mean for the larger races or any for that matter to just take residence in front of me.
And as for the long weapon thing, I totally agree with you on that one. Just last night a barb warrior went right up next to me on my left, with long sword in his left hand, doing a good job of letting me study his sword. Effectively blocking me in.
As for the people that stand in front of you on accident, just please be more aware for what you are doing. /bonk
And as for the ones that do it on purpose .... /SMASH

Park your trader in the back...really, if someone wants your stuff, they'll be more than happy to run to the back where it's less laggy and easier to find you.
Or, make a friggin' troll and have a friend port him up to the Nexus. There are solutions here.

My own rules of thumb.
When I turn trader on, I turn off all the extra visual goodies (I've got a nice machine, but I still crash occasionally while in trader mode), turn of shout, auction, ooc, emotes, and all of the other useless zone spam. Bard songs DEFINITELY go off. If I could just find a way to turn off /random, my life would be complete.
Actually, my problem with the big races has very little to do with getting in and out of the stalls. I don't recall ever really having a problem with that. What I hate is when they park themselves in the ENTRY CORRIDOR. It always seems that there are one or two clusters of people parked right where the entry corridor opens out into the bazaar proper, and you generally have to make a few attempts to get past them before you can actually enter the bazaar. These people, of course, are never hugging the wall, and the ogre with them is always standing smack in the middle of the pathway.

Nice combination of size and visibility is the Vah Shir (and Barb I'd imagine). I've got a Vah Shir in full visible Cobalt Drake (minus gloves, but I'm working on it) standing back by the arena enterance ( the row with the forge ).
He's very noticable, easy to pick out, and visible even when a troll butts in, which is uncommon that far back. He's got the added bonus that if _I_ accidentally step a gnome (which I've done, my vender only has 90 days of /played timed logged, in the exact same spot, why WOULDN"T a gnome suddenly set up there in the hour between patch server up and when I get on in the morning) you can still get to the gnome between my legs.

Not only do I plant my vendor(s) down near the arena in the "Low Lag District", but I tend to park on top of boxes/barrels, especially when my little tinker needs to unload some tinkering experiments. By placing myself on the front edge of the barrel, I can be seen better amidst the forest of tall folk, and nobody is going to be able to plant in front of me.
When food/drink used to be an issue for vendors, and several guildmates and friends were selling stat foods and drinks, my sustenance song group would all huddle together in a low traffic area. Some would sit (if tall) or stand (if short) at the front, will taller folks standing offset a bit behind them. We always made sure everyone had enough space for shoppers to get in and browse, and only had problems when a HUGE ogre would log in, waddle up, plant on top of the gnome, and sit sideways so he'd take up a couple spots with his big fat butt and his lance (the lance, of course, would be cutting right in front of yet another vendor's eyes, making it iffy as to which merchant you'd get if you clicked in any given spot.
Thankfully, after several very pointed comments aloud by multiple folks about his lack of manners, etc., he gave up on that stunt, but it was quite annoying.
As for the (now fixed) lev issue that would allow you to "push" folks out of their stalls, the problem was that folks weren't "just" using it on those who'd set up shop in ways as to intentionally block the folks behind them, but would use it as a griefing technique on any trader they felt like ... especially those who were selling the same types of wares as they wanted to sell. I got griefed by a necro, (I caught him in the act, even), then watched while he worked his way down the line pushing several other traders out of trader mode "just because" ... and the GM refused to do anything because there wasn't enough in the logs to prove that he was using it to intentionally grief folks. I, for one, am glad they now block lev from being cast on someone in trader mode, as it was being very much misused and abused.

I have been baffled at the all around lack of common courtesy in the bazaar sometimes. I watched someone take over a whole area with a warder that was as big as him. Pets, warders, familiars, horses, people intentionally going overboard with grow potions etc get on my nerves. I don't blame the fatty races for being big, I would say generally they are courteous. I have been cluttered and boxed in by small races enough too, LOL. Its all the player... and there are less than savoury ones. As a level 60 bard I also find it in poor taste watching a random bard try to up their brass skill with an AE song while it hits the rest. Too bad a roaming mob doesn't come by and slap them silly, hehe. Also... wtf with the casinos???? ARGH! :x
I too, stay in the back in the "low lag" area. I find two benefits to this... I get more browses because people are not lagging so hard they actually will go inspect a whole row of traders and I also find if someone is searching for what I have they will always bee-line back to me. Its a win win situation sitting in the back.

Yep, and you get to know your neighbors in your "regular" spot. I used to buy all my kaladim constitionals from the high elf mage who sat to my right...I don't know if he ever figured it out, but we kept to our own space so I felt like giving him business.
I'm always in the same stall...and when I log in, I always F9 and look around, make sure I'm not right in front of one of my neighbors. A littls scooch this way and I'm set. =)

I've had it happen a few times to leave my trader in the bazaar and some ogre sits on top of her. What baffled me 2 of the times was that she was in the back and there were open stalls there and the ogre shose to sit on top of my trader instead. I lost out on selling an 85k item one night due to that.

Ughh, I too hate when people will log in and just stand right there at the nexus entrance and not move. Zoned in one time, and 2 ogres, 3 trolls, and a barbarian were standing there almost shoulder to shoulder. Times like that makes me wish my necromancers shadow step wasn't self only.
I too set up in the far back of the bazaar, and as soon as I get around to it, she's gonna be dressed in visible fine plate, each piece a different color, to make finding her easier.http://www.magelo.com/eq_view_profile.html?num=344207Sikle Bellamorte, 56 Defilerhttp://pub238.ezboard.com/bthepowderroom77512

Ugh...
I know how that goes...I generally keep a mule up to sell my smithed goods.
Several times I have logged in to find my poor trader smooshed underneath gobs of ogre fat. I think I could hear her crying for mercy from underneath.
I carefully dragged her out from underneath then repositioned her elsewhere. Came back later to find her examining a mod rod that was somehow stuck in her hands...
She went on strike later that day...
However I sadly ended up caving in and creating an ogre trader. I made sure I had old world models enabled so I could see exactly where I was standing so I wouldn't be blocking anyone else.
NOW try to sit on that everloving chunk o purple ogre you nasty people!

My Seller's positions
At my house there are usually 3 sellers on at anytime: Highleaf, Midtrunk, and Lowroot. All PvP druids on Tunare. I made Highleaf my seller when I decided to stop playing, and thought a red name amongst the blue's would be highly noticable. Well my dad created Lowroot, and sat in the same general area next to me.
Sometimes when we log in from a crash out, someone is in our area, so we move slightly, and the person usually logs/crashes a few hours later, and we move the seller back. There has been a few times where we had to "fight" for the spot. I would turn on my monitor, and a person would be right in front of me.
There is a major graphics probably with EQ though. On the selling computer, it has all luclin graphics OFF. On my computer, I have them all ON. There are two barrels we sit on, just past the horse stables, and I align myself on one of them, but when I look on the seller computer, it show's I'm in the middle or closer to the other one.
I think most of the time, people may setup in /trader, and not be intentially blocking someones, but just the graphics bug. Of course, I know some are probably doing it on purpose, but unless they are selling the same items as you, why bother?
We have our usual customers though, so that's why we created Midtrunk. lol. For those of you that visit us and keep us in business, we thank you

If you are a small race, and an Ogre or Troll sits right one top of you, there is about a 95% chance it was done on purpose. Just because they can, and in the attempt to try and make you completely blocked from sight. I have seen an ogre actually have to sit down 3 or 4 times, until they got themselves positioned just right over that gnome.
If you dont like being sat on? Move to the low lag district, and use a large race for your trader. Not sure why people insist on vertically challenged races, and complain they cant be seen or that people are in their way. Also I do not understand why races that are blind in the dark, complain about not being able to see in the dark. Call me silly.

Not all of us have alts that serve as our Trader. I only have one account and one computer and don't like making friends mule for me any more than necessary, so my main character is my Trader. She happens to be a barbarian, so I don't have problems with people blocking me. But not everyone is as fortunate. Creating an alt to serve as Trader would be a major hassle both to myself and to my friends, and is not something anyone should be forced to do just because other people are selfish. Not sure why people insist on vertically challenged races, and complain they cant be seen or that people are in their way.
Now, moving to a low lag district is always good advice
