Ok, think back to what your server was like when you first started playing. Now think what its like. Besides the obvious expansion in territory, and the increase in gear, what has changed?
Personally, I started out my EQ career on the TZ server in the early summer of 2001. Things were fairly simple. The server was generally divided into 2 camps. In camp one known as the "Lighties", there were the Human, Short, and Elven teams. In the other camp, known as the "Darkies" was the Dark team. The two sides were fairly close in number, and the Lighties would still feud with each other. So it was a fairly balanced system. There was a general support of this division. Some people did try to combine the assets of all four teams, or they would group with Darks. Such people were known as Xteamers or 4Teamers and were generally shunned (or killed) by the community at large.
However despite this Roleplay division, people were still quite civil, and would even bend over backwards to help people out from the other side in issues of XP loss and corpse retrevial.
This has all changed now. The practice of XTeaming or 4Teaming has become almost the accepted norm. There are several guilds that try to keep the "Lighty" theme going, but they seem to be continually loosing ground. To make matters worse, most of these Lighty guilds consider any other "lighty" who groups with Darks or other "lightys" who 4 team, to be a 4 teamer, and consequently an enemy. In other words, they have alienated themselves even further. The rest of the server is now no longer divided by teams, but by guilds. The result is now a feudal society.
People have become much less civil. While they used to try to help each other avoid XP loss, many now intentionally try to cause it. In other words, the server has gone to hell. Even the GMs seem to have rinsed their hands of us. The average GM response time has ranged from 10-14 hours lately.
Thats why when Maelin Starpyre opened up I moved. I didnt' move right away. But when about 80% of my friends moved over, I followed.
I had played exclusively on TZ since my second night of starting EQ, so what ensued is best summed up in the words of one of my friends.
The people on Maelin Starpyre have been so kind and friendly its almost unbelieveable. I have had strangers give me Plat so I could get my JBoots when I turned in the wrong amount of Gold. I have had people drag my body to the zoneline for a rez. I have had people just give free Rezzes. I haven't seen people act like this since the week I started playing on TZ.
So guess what I am asking, how long does this last on the Blue servers? Do people just generally remain sociable? Or do they turn nasty there as well, just maybe a bit slower?

It was like stepping out of a war zone, and into an episode of the Brady Bunch
