When one already goes out of one's way in order to have a rediculous name, one needs not have others spend the energy to insult it.

      My main's name is Doranor.

On Prexus, there are two other characters, one named Daranor and the other Doronor. Way too many random tells because of that.

I hate it when people abreviate my name to Dora, especially when they still do it after seeing that I am a guy.

I get called "Angle" alot. And I often wonder how other people pronounce my Paladin's name...

What really got me was when I met someone with the same Surname as my Cleric, Whitewings.

We'd never met before... didn't know the same people... and apparently picked the same Surname within a week of each other.

          Well, my Name is Enfiniti Starr, but I get a lot of the following;
En (Not that bad in groups, as long as no one else has En to start there name)
          Enf (still not that bad)
Ent (I'm not an entrance, or a tree)
Infinity (Well...I know what they ment)
          Entinity (Misspelling..)
          Infiniti (See above)

But in RL my name is Jeffrey. And I like to be called Jeffrey, not Jeff, that is my one pet peave. And people ignore it all the time! They say "Hi Jeff." and after I say "No, Jeffrey please." They STILL say "Oh, sorry Jeff."
When someone says there name is Robert do you just call them Bob? Or how about "Hello, I'm Will." Do you say "Hi Bill." or "Hi Billy." ?! No, you say "Hi Will." So WHY do people think it's of to just ignore what I say and call me Jeff?!
Off topic but had to say it.

Hey! that's not fair, at least 2 of those are your alts! and i know your bazaar mule is either Kyrstin or Kyrsten :P
Nope. I know who you are speaking of, and Kyrsten is another person, completely unrelated person to me. I get tells meant for her, and I am pretty sure she gets them for me. Unfortunately, we are both tradecrafters, so we sell products for each other frequently. My bazaar mule is not a spelling variation of Kirstin...

My only interesting name that I get shortened a lot is Laiefin. One of my friends took to calling me 'La' because she said the name was too complicated and she always got the vowels switched around... At first I tried to resist it, but now I've gotten to the point where I call that character 'La' myself. I must admit... it is easy.

Actually, in context, the handle makes alot of sense.

I'm big on anthropomorphic art and probobly one of the better known fans of skunk art (Pepe Le Pew, etc) at these conventions.

I'm also a big cigar buff and seeing as how smoking, much less cigarsmoking, is about as common at these conventions as plate armor is for INT casters, I'm also well known for my smoking habits.

One day while I was strolling through a hallway with an arm full of artwork and a nice honduran robusto blazing away between my teeth, someone commented "There goes that cigar skunk again."

The handle stuck - thus the animated sig of the skunk puffing away on the cigar and of course the name itself.

Unlike the very normal sounding name that sounds like something along the lines of "weird-land" I descided to go with something rediculous sounding.

My shopping mule is Rosemarie. Luckily Rozmari gets all those many tells because she's a very kind and caring person, and every time I get too many, I forward all the "Hello"s and "Is this your alt"s to her nearest guildmate.

                      hehe

To me you will always be simply, Roz.....just because its too dang hard to keep all your alts straight.

How you manage to keep track of 30+ alts with Roz in the name I'll never know.

How'd you know this is a pet peeve of mine?

{tongue-in-cheek} How do you expect them to remember simple names like some of the ones here when they can't, with the name plastered ALL over the place, remember the name of the site owner? :P

I mean, just because someone calls me Naomi, or Nimi or Nami, or Namai, or Nimue or anything else in a reply to a post that has my name clearly posted in it doesn't mean they want to spend the extra time to scroll down from their reply box to make sure that they have my name right, does it? I mean, they REALLY want my attention so that they can give me an earful about their personal pet peeve so that I can drop everything that I am doing and soothe their ruffled feathers and promise that I'll camp on VIs doorstep until they, who cannot be bothered to even learn my name, are 100% happy with VI and what they've done to "their" tradeskills ... {pants} yes, they really, really, really want my 100% of my personal attention, but they cannot be bothered to give me the courtesy of calling me by my name.

I guess I should have been glad that if they can't spell my name right, they can't join the hordes that tell-spammed Niami for the doggoned STUPIDEST stuff, but I can't find myself glad about that. Too many folks DID find me, and Niami is no longer brought out unless rezzes are desperately needed, or I need some combines done on her.
