(Try taking that person to any court and telling the judge he reneged on a deal for imaginary items.) Here, all you have is personal honor.
Interesting concept. I don't think the items would qualify as completely imaginary, because they are actual code within a game. Along with you, I doubt that the courts would take it seriously, but I find the concept intriguing. What kind of case might you be able to make showing that breaching the contract caused you a loss of entertainment value, therefore negatively impacting your enjoyment?

I suppose it might be much like a someone selling (legally) tickets to a theater production. You've agreed to purchase the tickets and at the last minute he sells them to someone else for a higher price. You had a contract. He breached it. Would you have legal recourse?

The items are the tickets to your in game entertainment. At the last minute the seller sells them to someone else. Could you make the theoretical point that you have legal recourse? How long will it take until someone gives it a try?

As soon as there is Everquest Coffee, and someone spills it on their lap.

Recepie, two Coffee Beans in a Mixing Bowl to get Ground Coffee, then Ground Coffee plus Flask of Water plus either Bottle or Shotglass to get Black Coffee, or also plus Milk to get ... um, my coffee knowledge ends. Non-Black Coffee? Creamed Coffee?

Lol, 'Starbucks signs liscensing agreement with Everquest... Players can now make all kinds of coffee to justify why no one ever sleeps in the game...' Hey, your toon has to have some way to stay awake all night in the Bazaar.

hee, sorry, sometimes you just can't resist. ^_^

Sanna - I am glad I do not play on Sullon too! I played for about 8 levels on a PvP server (forget which one) and I have a list of about 30 names of people that I am gonna lay the smack down on if I ever see them in a world of hurt (in their bind point naked, especially). As I was only level 8, it was only griefers that were doing that. Heck, I played a Woodie rogue (sneak/hide) and a warrior could still see me!!! He was only level 6-7. He exploited the "shooting arrows does not aggro guards" issue and would shoot me when I was medding up (and hidden).

As far as the coffee recipe, there needs to be something to heat it up...perhaps a tinkered item?

When I had 1pp to my name, my word was my bond. When someday I have 100k to my name, my word will still be my bond. If I have agreed, the game is over, if I got a bad deal, the deal still goes through simply because I accepted it.
This is the WHOLE POINT of this Thread.

In Life or in the Game basically anywhere there are 2 things no one can ever take away from you:
          1. YOUR WORD
          2. YOUR KNOWLEDGE i.e your training and degrees and such

I may be old fashioned but when I tell someone something I mean it.

As for being Rich because I have a horse makes me LAUGH.

I have some cash in the bank but the old addage of "you have to spend money to make money" is true even in this game. Take a look at my trade skills and then think I have 4 alts that I equip (Twink if you like that term) and my wife has 4 toons that we do the same with. She has become a GM baker but there is not any real cash in that market anymore on my server so we are supported by my Tailoring. Being poor is relative as you say your roommate helped you out with things you have more than some people.

Level does not equal money either

I have many friends who are in their 60's and they have less cash than I do because they buy spells and things with what cash they have. I have money because I spend my playing time to Tradeskill not to XP where they XP they do not have cash. My money is revolving as I have to buy most of my components that I do not farm.

I believe there should be honor (yes, even among thieves) in everything you do. EQ, RL, baseball, croquet -- whatever.

If you make an agreement, stick to it. No amount of plat should be enough to besmirch your honor. Especially not the difference of 25pp!
If you feel miffed at finding yourself at the backside of one of these occurances, feel free to be miffed! Let the person know what you think, then drop it. Belaboring the issue will just result in a /ooc or /shout match no one else really wants to hear (read). Go back to playing and have fun.

Retaliation isn't going to do anything good for either of you, either. Teleporting someone to the wrong place (especially if it gets them killed) will not only belittle your own honor, it may earn you the enmity of the presiding GM.
