Making tradeskilled jewelry, armor and augments has enabled me to earn a lot of platinum in Everquest, more than I would ever have thought possible. The money is nice but providing something truly valuable to another player brings me great joy.
But I've noticed a tendency of some customers to engage in behavior that sadly mimics the way real life society has been heading in recent years. It amazes me the way people absolutely refuse to take responsibility for their mistakes and seek to blame anyone but themselves. Pursuant to that I have begun to work on a "fine print" hotkey.
"Thank you for choosing Squeaky's Secret Tradeskilling Conglomerate for your tradeskill needs. Please keep in mind that Squeaky' Secret bears no responsibility for mistakes related to the following reasons:
1) Confusion over diety augs. Storms = Karana and Growth = Tunare. Terror = Cazic-Thule and Hate = Innoruuk. Please know your diety!
2) Confusion over slots. Bracer = Wrist and Arms = Sleeves. Please keep that in mind.
3) Dropped or destoyed items. If your inventory is full and you drop items on the ground that poof or are picked up by others, that is a result of your lack of foresight. If you accidentally destroy an item or bag of items I have made for you it is still your responsibility to pay for them.
4) Even trivial items can be fizzled. It happens. I make no guarantees implicit or expressed that I will succeed on a combine.
5) Please pay close attention to class, level and race restrictions. Make sure that you can use the item before you request it to be made.
It just boggles the mind that people would demand refunds or replacements of an item if it is a result of making a mistake. I liken it to cashing a paycheck at the bank, walking out the bank door and then dropping the cash down the sewer and having it wash away. I doubt the bank would be sympathetic and re-cash your check due to your carelessness.
Sigh, I feel better already.
