Long silence.... then I receive a tell asking me if I was going to camp the AGs soon and could he borrow the 400p that I would make?
I'd report this guy straight to my guild officer - this is definately not someone you want in the guild at any level.

My stock answer to strangers who want to "borrow" plat from me is to give them a very enthusiastic yes and then inform them that I'll need some form of collateral - this is always in the form of an item worth atleast two to three times the value of the loan which I can either use or know there's a solid market for - they suddenly seem to discover that they don't need a loan anymore.

My sentiments exactly. Repeated annoyances from a guildmate get sent to my Guildleader. Heck, I am an officer, so I normally tell them that they are violating a rule, and tell them to be quiet.

And I love the idea of charging collateral.

Things are pretty bad for me as a shaman.

Usually I carry my epic about, plus I'm almost never role.... I prefer for my guildmates to know where I am.

I'm pretty good about giving buffs for guildmates, friends, or smithers... I get random tells sometimes asking for a str buff for smithing, I always give fosoul and primal. Glad to help smithers out.

But when I'm in the nexus, waiting for a raid to start/cr, whatever, and some level 1 comes up to me and demands - does not ask, demands - that I give him focus, I get annoyed. Group focus takes up more than half my mana, involves grouping with the twit, and takes 30 seconds to cast. Sigh.

Usually, if I remember, I try to equip my 8th cudgel instead, and when asked for buffs it's, "I R BEASTLORD!". Then nodding a lot. Nevermind that my who says 65 prophet.

I've received one donation for focus - one... 8pp. Woo. I spent it all in one place, I'm so bad.

I try not to hang around in shadowhaven, nexus, bazaar for that reason. I usually do my tradeskilling in shar vahl, but even there I get overwhelmed by beggers. Sanctus Seru on the other hand, is nice and quiet. But I will probably mess my faction up there shard hunting in the near future. Bye bye, nice quiet place to make heady kiolas.

This past week I've been working on 2hb, carrying around a tarnished driveshaft... looks like a see through stick. I haven't been pestered as much. Ahhh, I R BEASTLORD.

I try to help out people as much as I can if I have the time. Since I spend most time on my mage, the help usually involves only summoned items. I usually don't get asked for buffs. If I am tradeskilling, I am usually have AFK on, and ignore anything in the chatbox. My tradeskill time is my "special time", and as a mage, I am not "urgently needed" by anyone in my guild.
I love planes these days. Never had a single beggar bug me while I am in PoT or some exp plane. When I am forced to come out to other zones (KEI, component farming, bazaar) I always tell any beggars that are bothering me to get me some tradeskill items that are easily attainable by a lvl 1 (snake's eggs are my favorite at this moment, followed closely by spiderling silks). Usually that shuts them up.

By far the most common question in PoK is: Where is the stone to X?

My answer, every time: PoP manual, page 120.

If they insist on a more precise answer, I become rude to them and they are treated to the rest of the zone calling them out for the idiot that they are.

I also have 3 AFK hotkeys that I use in certain bad zones (PoK, Nexus, Bazaar, Shadowhaven, GFay, Halas and others) from a simple "/afk NO" to a lengthy dissertation on my opinion of beggars, heavily laced with 4 letter words and inquiries into the validity of the beggar's parentage...which one I use is reflective of my mood at the time

Catering to other people's whims is not in my job description.

                  Classy Begging

I will admit to occasionally "begging" for a SOW, but never money or items. I usually /say "Could anyone spare the time to cast SOW on this poor slow dwarf." If someone casts it, I thank them profusely, if nobody has the time, I plod along knowing that I will eventually get to my destination.

My thought is, if you don't think it's rude to ask, then don't think it's rude when you get told no.

And I am on both sides of this issue. I often, as a Dwarf Paladin, get asked for SoW or Strength buffs, and have to say, "Sorry, don't have the spell, can't learn the spell." I also, as a smith, have a burning need to have brellium enchanted and rubies imbued on a regular basis. I try and use the search functions to find an appropriate character in a "non-busy" zone, like a city, PoK, or the bazaar and send them a quick tell asking if they have time to earn a little money by enchanting or imbuing. If they say no, I thank them for their time and let them be.

I expect the same with these beggars. When they ask me for my Brellium BP after they inspect me at the bank in Kaladim, I say "Go earn money and stop asking me for items that took me years to acquire." If they continue to pester me, I duel them (You can't imagine how many will actually take me up on this! What great is I run from them back to the Mushroom farm, remove my BAH, root their begging greedy butts, and commence pounding on them with my fists! WooHoo! Takes a few minutes to kill them and they have to stand there and take it! Very theraputic!), after that it's an ignore.

Had someone ask me where the library in PoK was the other day. My answer?

"That big building right behind you."

The usual ooc PoK questions drive me nuts, though. They can all be divided into three specific questions:

"Where is the teleport stone to X"
"Where are the spell vendors for class X"
                      "Where is the bank?"

And then the occasional other question (usually asking for the location of a guildmaster).

Of course, all of the above can be figured out with just a minute or two of looking.

Or my favorite question in PoK: Can anyone port me to Butcherblock or G-Fay?
