Just got the Expert Smith Test, lists alot of Pale velium, acrylia and the like combines. And right down at the end is Shadowscream Steel Tunic

I'm 261 and have not touched SS armour for a reason, i didn't want to do the quests to allow me to farm for ever items for skilling up smithing. I choose not to touch that evil set of combines for a reason... now I have to if I want to get the special trophy /cry

Would be happy to do anything BUT SS, or if I do have to go so out of my way for it, at least make it worth while and more of the items needed to be made being SS.

(also didn't get teh extra bank slots... actually my account which doesn't have PoR yet only had 8, but that is trivial compared to this).

Update your UI for your bank slots to show. Old UIs aren't set up for showing 24 bank slots

As to the shadowscream..heh, I feel ya. I'm at 293 smithing and won't be doing this quest till I hit 300 =P

just wait until you find out at 300 you need to do 3 SS pieces :-p

Did the Journeyman JC task, nice reward for the difficulty. Managed to complete it within an hour while also trying to sort out my UI. Stats not as good as trophy, skill mod same, summons a weaker bag. So at journeyman lvl it is still worth getting the GM trophy if you want the +50 CHA.

lvl 7 item has +63 CHA!!

hint for your quest to make shadowscream armor -- Bloodling Plate Mail is not NoTrade. Find someone who's already got one who's willing to sell/rent it to you. This will cut out about 80% of the time spent on the quest to get the hammer & anvil.

I'm in the same boat. 255 skill and my heart sank when I saw the Shadowscream requirement. Please, anything but Shadowscream. Like you, I avoided it for a reason.

It was a joy to destroy these wastes of bank space wasn't it? I think I'd delete my GM smithing trophy quest if I had to make SS armors again. They need an either/or option, I'd much rather need to make 4 GM bps or such than any SS armors.

I sorta thought from things I had read here the "everybody" had the tools need. Seems I misinterpreted things. Happens.

It may not be until next week, if I do make any changes.

This seems like a pretty whiney thing to change. Everyone, and I do mean everyone, can get this quest and do it. It may require faction work etc. but I did this quest as a baby bard of 20 and as I recall everything was green.

It is simply not an unreasonible amount of time to spend.

Heck, I'd spend more time farming the plat to make the boot gasket for my tinkering gnome because as someone else said to me.... Paraphrased: "Who cares, the bazaar isn't keyed!"

I don't know... seems to me like people who can "easily" farm stuff for acyila, and pale velium are complaining that it's too hard to do such a simple quest. Give it two weeks and I suspect that you won't hear about the SS again.

My other thought is that I need a way to "deskill" TS to my XP lvl so that I can make the things that are appropriate to my lvl. Actually, now that I've seen all the tasks I'm not worried about any of my characters. I'm just glad I didn't do that push to 250+ that I was thinking about on my smith before the expansion. If I have to do a few extra combines, so be it.

I'll say it again, Ngreth, I like the direction TS is headed. Good job!

I was skilling up smithing and purposely trying to avoid shadowscream, but I did the quest due to the trophy. It only took about 4 hours, MUCH MUCH less than what I have taken to try to farm the rare ingredients for the other trophies. I personally had no problem with doing this quest for the trophy.

Guys its not that bad....at least ngreth is making an effort and you don't need anguish access to get the trophy....

I don't have the required tools for it and I have been trying to do the quest to get them but I spent nearly 2 hours just to spawn the owlbear war in Hollowshade only to have some inconsiderate person end it about 10 minutes later. Only got 2 of the item from owlbears and nothing yet from sonic wolf.

Question for you on that: Did you spend 2 hours to get the Owlbears to take over the WHOLE zone? If so, try just getting them to take over the South and then let the Owlbears/Wolves fight each other from there on out. That way, you don't spawn the named at the outpost (which unknowing people will tend to kill because, well, it's a named that's kinda out-of-place.)

The owlbear boss can drop a range item with mana regen on it so... expect someone to kill her shortly after you let owlbears win.
