Count me as another person who had over 700 Solstice Robe combines ready to go on the push towards 300. I go to start the combines today and I see that dreaded 252 trivial.

I also posted about just not wanting to have to grind from 67 to 70 just to do grandmasters stuff.

I'm done. Sorry to say it, but it's been a great almost 6 years that has just started to really go down hill the last year or so. None of my friends play anymore, and I don't see any reason to continue. I mean why continue if it's not fun, and EQ has just become very unfun for me the last couple months.

Take care all and I hope EQ remains fun for you and that your real lives bring you all the wonderful rewards that each of you richly deserve. And an extra special thanks to that little halfling and the big ogre for providing me so much tradeskill information for so long.

Why change trivial of solstice robe and not the trivial of Gem Studded Chain (335) ??

It's way easier to make than robe... Ok everyone dont care about get lot of GM Jewelcraft.... why god it's so insanie to get some GM Tailoring ? anyway everything who can be made is craps for hardcore gamer... Even the new DON stuff seem just ok for alt or some toys... but rarty of ingredient, you need to forget!
Why you want skill up ? that s no use atm lol... That why i think lot of people have think to do it but didnt yet and get caugh. No motivation to do it and now we CANT do it lol. Bha just forget it. and all this pp lost.

What on earth does that leave us with? My wee druid was working up her tailoring to become my leatherfoot bitz - I've been doing ceremonial robes since the loy ribbons ran out..

I have no idea what to do now..

You have got better at Whining (293)

Can I recommend a book? "Who moved my cheese" by Spencer Johnson.

EVERY time there is any sort of change whatsoever people act like it is the end of the world. And the way they threaten to deprive Sony (market capitalization $35 Billion) of their $12 a month or whatever it is, as though that will have them quaking with fear... Ha!

So... you have spent 3 months of your life farming plat, silks and hides. Did you enjoy it?
            1.Yes? Then why complain?
2.No??? Then why did you do it?!
            "To reach 300 tailoring"

            Why?
            1. So you could make stuff?
Well, now "stuff" is easier to make, so you why are you complaining?
            2. So you could impress your friends that you have maxed your skill?
Are you saying you do something you don't enjoy, just to get that number to (300)...Well, it's time to reevaluate your life goals I would say.
            3. So you can have a sense of "achievement".
Well, think how much greater sense of achievement you're going to have now

Yeah, this is probably a bit inflammatory, but I get so irritated by people who act like "victims" all the time. Does it make you happy? Does it change anything?

              Does it change anything?
              Yes.

Do you read patch messages? There's a section in there that is dedicated soley to "Community Requested" changes.

Didnt like the new bazaar? They're changing it back. If we don't "whine" about how absolutely seethingly angry we are about our wasted time, plat, effort, then they're not going to change it back.

The response to the new bazaar was lukewarm, and it got turned around quickly. At least some people liked the new bazaar. Find me ONE tailor between 252-300, who had plans to skillup, who is PLEASED about this change in its current form, and I will eat my shorts.

Well, as I have mentioned elsewhere, I am a 200 tailor with 150 gem studded chains in the bank, so I was not exactly overjoyed with the change myself.

I don't regard giving feedback and pointing out the effects of the change to the devs as "whining" or being a victim - in fact quite the opposite, it is trying to control the situation and change things.

What I object to is the threats to quit and the sob stories about characters who are going to die after all these years because EVIL Sony changed the trivial level... JUST to annoy tradeskillers, because they HATE us all, especially tailors (today - probably smiths tomorrow).

In fact EQ is just a cunning plot to make us think we are enjoying ourselves and then make us all suffer... muahahahahaha!!!

Do some people overreact? Is threatening to quit the game over this one issue more drama than substance? Is asking those that already made it to 300 tailoring to be reset so they can live with the new trivials way overboard?

Yes to all of the above.

HOWEVER, that does not change the fact that these changes did have a very strong negative impact on many players. As has been stated repeatedly, it is not just that it will be much more difficult to skill up unless and until the vague promises of new skill up paths are implemented. People have the right to be angry, upset and even overly dramatic when they put many hours of effort into the game in return for a future reward and then have sudden changes force them to discard all that effort and start over.

And yes, many players do work on tradeskills for that Master Tailor or Master Artisan title. They put in time, effort, and emotional energy into the goal of being the first in the game, on their server or in their guild to wear a particular title, or just to reach that level even when they aren't first. It is every bit as valid a play style choice as the player that wants to defeat a particular mob, get the best gear, get flagged for the latest zones, etc.

It not necessary for you to share these goals. It is even acceptable for you to consider the complaints about the changes in tailoring trivials excessive. It is absolutely unacceptable to call people "whiners" when they get upset about these changes.

                    Edit: Sarcastic response removed

Yeah, people are upset, so I guess my having a go at them is not exactly going to make things better.

Back to constructive posting for me

I admit - it's kinda baffling that they would do this without notifying anyone. They ought to have at least given folks a few days of warning and said "Get those solstice robe bits out of your banks and do your combines now, 'cause you're not going to want to do them after the patch."

Then at least anyone who is stuck with four mules full of junk has only themselves to blame...

I'm trying to remember what happened when they reduced the Banded and Fine Plate trivials. I seem to remember a mad rush to skill up (which I missed out on due to total plat lackage), so there was definitely some sort of notice.

What I can't recall is whether it was actually announced formally, or whether it was just found out because the changes went into test before live.

I cannot speak for anyone else but myself, but there are many reasons for me leaving...

Out of the 9 people that I played with every single day for over 4 years, only 1 still plays.

I'm tired of the gap that exists between end game raiders and end game non-raiders, to the point where I haven't even bothered to go out and gain experience in the last 2 months. There is just nothing in it for me in going from 67 to 70, except for the grandmaster quests which I heard were changed anyway.

And then the last straw? The trivial changes to Solstice Robes (700 ready to go) and Velious Leathers (150 ready to go). A lot of time working towards a goal was just wiped away.

                            I will answer your questions:
So... you have spent 3 months of your life farming plat, silks and hides. Did you enjoy it?
                            1.Yes? Then why complain?
2.No??? Then why did you do it?!

                            2) No. Why did I do it? Because even in the world of entertaining yourself, you deal with things you don't like. Here are some very common examples: I do not like hitting my golf ball into the rough, or out of bounds. It's very bothersome and I would much rather hit it down the fairway every time, but that just isn't realistic for most golfers. So I deal with the part I don't like, because there are the other parts that I do like. Another example would be hockey. I hate getting slashed in the back of the leg. It hurts like hell and typically leads to me retaliating with punch, crosscheck or slash of my own. So although I love playing hockey, there is an aspect that I really dislike that I just have to put up with.

                            Why?
                            1. So you could make stuff?
                            2. So you could impress your friends that you have maxed your skill?
                            3. So you can have a sense of "achievement".

None of the above. It was something that I enjoyed - collecting components, doing combines, hoping for skillups. Now all the time online (yes, all. I did nothing else but prepare to raise tailoring for the last couple weeks) and platinum I've spent over the last few weeks has been wiped away.

I would never have had a problem if the servers disappeared. Long, long ago I realized EQ was just a game (actually I knew it from the beginning) and very temporary in the grand scheme of things. I knew that at some point down the road - 20 years, 10 years, 40 years - EQ would be completely irrelevant and wouldn't even be remembered.

What it's about is having 6 accounts. Sure it's only an unrecognizable drop in the bucket to SOE, but to me it's a sizeable yearly investment in expansions and fees. One that up until now I was happy to make. But to think that someone like Maddocc or someone else (probably a bunch of someones) knew about this change who knows how long ago, but sat quietly by watching me and hundreds, if not thousands of other players, invest so much time and platinum into preparing - knowing full well that he/she/they were going to "screw" us over - well to me that is unconscionable. I have stopped going to convenience stores when less was done to me, I have stopped going to gas stations when less was done to me, and I have stopped going to restaurants when less was done to me. After all, for every convenience store or gas station or restaurant that didn't appreciate having me as a customer, there are many, many more that would just love to have my business.

Maybe you don't understand why people would quit over this. That's perfectly fine (obviously) and I hope you continue to enjoy your leisure time no matter what you choose to do. Nobody questions why you will continue to play through all of this; that's your decision to make. But it is very droll of you to criticize choices that others make for themselves.

Yeah, sorry, I wasn't really trying to criticise, just to invite people to step back and think about why they spend so much time on something if they don't enjoy it, and to try to take change positively.

There is so much that is great in EQ and it mystifies me why people focus so much energy on the occasional (albeit upsetting) problems.

Anyway, I don't want to get another thread locked, so sorry again if I was insensitive.

Well again, I can't speak for anyone but myself...

But I did step back and thought about it, and that's exactly why I am done.

I don't want it changed back or new trivials put in. I am just done. For a company that would treat their customers time and energy so nonchalantly, I do not want to be a customer of that company any longer, and that's all there really is to it. There are other businesses out there (not necessarily even in the computer gaming world) that will show me more respect for the investment I make in them.
