I wish they would add a soulbinder to the bazaar ... since leaving the bazaar would get me in a bind-death loop in most likelyhood (I often seem to wind up bound slightly above the ground ... and with as much weight as my baz mule has, ANY drop would be deadly - and being lvl 2, he spawns at bind point fully weighed down).
I decomissioned my beloved bazaar pirate of 8 months, Deepwater Jack, to roll up a Shaman an PL her to level 9 last night. I found someone who was kind enough to bind me right in front of the banker in red dragon. Now, I have a bazaar mule that can SoW herself, and Gate back to right in front of the banker. It definately helps save some time.

You can leave the search field blank and hit the Search button to get a list of everything they are looking for.

I also saw that I can search for something....but I have to know the exact name or part of the name..I can't search for what slot or what stat or whatever like I could in the bazaar. Am I missing something totally obvious? Why is this barter zone necessary, and furthermore, why is it better than just going to the bazaar? Any helpful insight would be greatly appreciated, as I don't want to miss out on something that's really great.
The barter zone isn't so much about selling as it is about buying. If you have some tradeskill component you don't want to farm, you can type /buyer and set up a buy line telling people how many you want and how much you'll pay for it. Then they can come up to you and sell it to you. The bazaar, of course, is about selling things.

If you want to make some money, you bring up the barter window, leave the search field blank and search, and it will tell you everything people are wanting to buy. Then you can go out and farm and sell to them if you need cash. So, you have a choicee. Sell items to the buyers in the Barter Hall for what they are willing to pay, or if you think they aren't paying enough, set up your trader in the bazaar and with the prices you're willing to sell for.

I keep a buyer up most of the time. I get a lot of newbies who sell me pelts and silks to earn some quick cash. And I get tradeskill items I need without having to go do farming. I have quite an extensive buyline since I'm trying to get things for tinkering, baking, brewing, tailoring, smithing, and research *laughs*.

At the moment, not many people are using the buyer function, but I think once people (espcecially tradeskillers) figure out the benefit of it, you'll see a lot more people putting buyers up. I know that from now on, I'll be stopping in the barter hall after hunting and checking if anyone wants to buy my stuff before I sell it for peanuts on the merchants.

Barter Hall has 2 commands, /barter (to find any buyers for a specific item), and /buyer (to place a listing that you will buy a certain item). You cannot place a listing to sell an item in barter hall, you can only sell items that others have listed a "buy line" for. At the moment on Stromm, it is a very under-utilized zone. I suspect the reasons for that are that many dont understand it and people are unable to have a trader in bazaar and a buyer in barter hall at the same time. I would like to see them combine the two and allow people who have the expansion to run both at the same time. All the NPC vendors are buy/sell, why should PCs be any different.

It's definately adding time to my precombine routines. Before, buying up all the velium bits and bricks and blocks, then turning them into studs or boning was a breeze. Being able to face the traders, I hardly ever even used the find tool once the "hide all traders" button went live. Being in close proximity to the traders, the bank, and the two forges was fantastic.

Now, there's definately a lot more running involved from red to (mysterious forces) blue to (mysterious forces) red to forge to red to (mysterious forces) blue to forge to bank to blue to (mysterious forces) red... You see where this is going.

A lot of people complained about the lag in the bazaar, but I guess you don't really appreciate what you've got til it's gone. (And I hope they add a teleporter to and from Rathe, since they just removed the arena unannounced, as well.) RIP Better Bazaar!

I'm still reserved on the new layout, but I know one thing that would be invaluable is for SoE to add the hall name to the search tool, so you can see ahead of time which hall the traders are in when you're trying to buy. That way, if you're like me and you're trying to buy up all of tradeskill_item_01 in the bazaar, you can clear out one hall then move to the next. Would save a ton of time and frustration, and anything that saves frustration makes the game more fun....

Yeah, I zoned into bazaar, and I noticed that I happened to be stuck in a wall...so, I went to my advanced settings and made those changes...It said I have over a 16 hour download ! Stupid dial up...I really hate being cheap...

Someone suggested having "Bard Muzak" of Selo's Accelerando piped into the Bazaar and Barter Hall so everyone moves at top Bard speed.

Suspending buff timers in the Bazaar and Barter Hall so low level trader mules could use a Blood Of the Wolf potion once for a "permanent" SoW would be nice.

I didn't really see the need for a change in the Bazaar, but after a few days, I have noticed my sales improving. I think it might be because of the design change in placing all vendors equi-distant from the bank.

The Bazaar used to be one of my favorite zones. I was bound there just a few steps from bankers, from vendors selling some common supplies (and with juicy offerings for vendor diving after patches), from Traders hopefully selling other supplies, from tradeskill-friendly Shadowhaven, from most tradeskill containers, and from a short hop to PoK. Now it's all spread out, everything separated by winding passages that all look the same and Traders clustered in rooms that all look the same. I never needed a map in the Bazaar before!

I agree with the others who suggest combining the Bartering Quarter with the Bazaar and putting them both back in the old Bazaar zone. It was straightforward and convenient. These are far from either. Throw in some of the pretty effects, like the marble walls and waving flags and maybe a pretty teleport to get to the arena or something. Oh my aching calves...

On test the barter zone has been removed, the bazaar now does both functions. PoK goes to bazaar (and you can go back as to PoK from bazaar). Nexus and shadowhaven exits work as expected. The old entrance from bazaar to barter doesn't do anything now.

Red section of bazaar is now for /traders, and blue is for /buyers.

Well that's a significant improvement over the current system and will save a lot of trips back and forth through the portals. Still not perfect in that it doesn't allow both trading and bartering at the same time on the one character, but still much better.

I agree that combining the two has removed most of the problems.
