  • New Bazaar = Bad Layout

    1. If you're in one of the seller areas and someone in the other seller area has what you're looking for, the "Find" function won't lead you there.

    2. Winding up-and-down passages and confusing maps (I see passages, but no way to get to them!) make it even more difficult.

    3. People who were camped out in the Bazaar and didn't have the new expansion got seriously stuck.

    4. New Barter zone... why?

    5. Overall... this is going to seriously hurt people trying to sell stuff in the Bazaar.

OUCH.... I have about 5 characters in the Baz across 2 accounts.

And I am not intending on buying the expansion for my 2nd account.

      This new bazaar is just...lame.
If it isn't broken, why fix it?
...but it is $ony at its best. Left hand work with no purpose.

The only good thing I can see with this new design, is that it will probaly reduce lag.

Strangely enough, everything did work for me, and I don't have the expansion. A few things to check.

Make sure you get new maps if you are using custom bazzar maps...

Make sure you downloaded the entire patch with a complete file scan...

The find function was always flakey. I haven't had trouble in the new bazzar but often I'd not be able to find "Path mysteriously not found" in the old bazzar...

I think Sony did a good job myself.

[EDIT: ] And I love the new graphics..... Fast, and pretty. I will admit it doesn't have the feel of a bazzar anymore though. :/ Can't have everything I guess.

Well, I have DoN, and I went to eq-toolbox.com to get maps for it. I like the new bazaar and barter zone looks and layouts. No, lag was never an issue for me even before *hide all traders*. Shrug- Sony may not have been smart to change the bazaar unless they made it's change a normal patch part instead of DON related, but hey.. I'm not getting into that... I do have to say that I LOVE the new graphics for the tradeskill containers and the guildhall is AWESOME.

You also need to go to your Advanced settings and make sure the Luclin and DoN download boxes are checked if you are having problems like being stuck in a wall of the new Bazaar or are unable to enter the new Bazaar.

Bad, bad, bad. I seriously think that someone at Sony should lose thier job for wasting what was probably an enormous amount of time and money to completely screw up a fun and well laid out bazaar area WHICH WASN'T BROKEN. Seriously though, how could they possibly have justified this considering all the bugs and glitches that still exist in other areas of the game? I've already sent feedback, and if you feel half as strongly about the change as I do, I'd suggest you make your thoughts known to the developers as well.

/rant off, but the hate remains...

It is different. I'm not 100% certain it was necessary to change but it will make it easier for people to become used to the barter area since they cannot simply pop over to the bazaar and have the old layout instead. And its simply stunning, both in the layout and the graphics themselves.

                So, I kinda like it

I haven't made a secret of my feelings, I HATE the new Bazaar layout. (And hate it in the Barter Hall too...ICK!)

And what happened to bazaar Arena? There were also prisoners in the basement/jail that were for a quest, too, I think?

Lest I be accused of negativity, I do like the new tradeskill containers, they look great, especially as they aren't giant-sized anymore like in Beta....of course now they are gnome sized (but thats ok!)

Let me put it politely: The new bazaar layout is less than ideal

It's a cluster, actually. It's really bad. It makes so little sense, I am going to pop.

On the good side, I like the IDEA of the barter zone. If the new bazaar morphed its layout for eventually merger with the barter zone, I'd see a point. But to keep them different zones and neverthless make the bazaar a really, really, really poor zone is just, well, expletive deleted up.

Oh, and at least on E'ci, the walls in the Red half of the new (bad) bazaar are Blue, while the walls in the blue half are red. Thanks for that little added confusion in trying to explain where my trader is located. It's very fun to say "the blue on the map not the blue on the walls."

Personally, I don't think the design is all that confusing. It is just different.

The find trader and find buyer features work quite well and the golden path even directs you through the proper teleporter. If you are using the maps, the room names on the map provide the best way to describe your location.

Having said all that, I agree with you that the level design was very poorly thought out. It simply takes much too long to run from the zone in to the vendor stalls, and particularly from the bazaar vendor stalls to the barter buyer stalls. It even takes annoyingly long to get from one seller to another within the bazaar.

If they kept the basic layout of the two zones the same except for having the teleports for the vendor halls together in the merchant room, it wouldn't be ideal, but would be much better than it is now.

Once I discovered the find command was fixed I was determined to like the new bazaar - after all, it's kind of cool, all those colours and stuff. But I just can't. After having the bad luck of buying things from 7 traders, in the order of red hall, blue hall, blue, red, blue, red, blue I just can't handle this. There are over 300 traders up in the bazaar currently and most hubs have only one or two per section, if that. Geographically, the traders are too far apart... it takes too long to run back and forth, especially when you are going from hall to hall - and especially when you go back and forth between, with no way to even attmept to plan out purchases close together. The banker and the vendors are too far removed from the traders. Its all just too far apart and impossible to make efficient.

I love to tradeskill, but spending an hour in the bazaar going back and forth picking up the ingredients I am missing was not part of that plan.... I want to spend 5-10 mintues in the bazaar picking up ingredients and the rest of the time skilling. And, oh yeah, that reminds me... the tradeskill containers are also too far away. When I am out of space and need to do a few combines to free up bag slots before making my next few purchases.... it is a looooong long trip to do so.

I could get used to the layout, if it was just smaller and everything was closer together... and I would prefer if there was only one hall for traders.

Ummm.. I put my Bazaar mule up in the regular area.. not the red or blue area.. Didn't know that's where I was supposed to be.. I sold about my normal overnight amount too. *shrug* I just put /trade up right where I was standing when I logged her on.

You must have been lucky and logged in in one of the red or blue halls? I have run around testing it, and it won't let me put trader up anywhere else. Either that or you had a lucky bug.

I had trader up overnight and sold zero items, despite the higher than usual amount of players popping into the bazaar to check things out. I'm sure that sales will pick up and become normal again, but my irritation at how long it takes to get form one vendor to another will not
