Enchanters don't chant. Shamans do chant. Enchanters aren't chanters!

considering the definitions that were posted....

why is it that "Shamans/men/myn DO chant" if chanters don't?

or did I miss it (again)? All I see is a Kael reference I don't quite understand. Cause I'd think that Bards would be the ones chanting?

The plural of Shaman is Shaman.

Shaman in the real world often chant. Chanting is part of many relious and semi-religious experiences. But the 'chanter abbreviation for enchanters used to rankle me too.

Being called a chanter never bothered me, i refer to myself and other chanters as that.. our names just too long to type out.

Things you can do to annoy a chanter would be like... have everyone in the group mention they lost speed right as it goes... if it's a group spell (i wonder if people just don't get that).

If a chanter strings out mobs (a mezz line), with one live beating on their rune.. go wake up one of the mezzed ones.

Decide to pull that mob over there, and it's 2 buddies, while the chanter is out pulling multiples (if you're letting the chanter pull normally).

Now things like that will actually annoy chanters.

Hmm.. yah know what's odd... in real life, either monks or preists are the ones chanting... just thought about that. Maybe we should be calling monks chanters.. wouldn't that mess with their minds

In OoW there are new armor quests. They seem to be the successors to Ornate and Elemental armor quests. The shaman armor from the Anguish quests is called Ritualchanter's.

I figure shamans must do some ritual chanting... just like the shamans in Kael.

That's essentially getting into the question of how do you form the plural of an adopted word, through the system of its base language or through the system of the language which adopted it? A common example is "formula", for which both "formulae" (plural based off its Latin etimology) and "formulas" (standard English plural ending) are acceptable pluralizations of the word.

I'm assuming that "shaman", due to its small usage, has had its heritage neglected, so the plural based off its etimology is ignored by standard sources, such as your Merriam-Webster Online and my Random House College Edition, Revised (copyright 1988). I wish I could find my unabridged Oxford, for comparison ...

The plural of shaman is shaman

Normally it's Shamen but it does seem to be up in the air. That's the way it's handled verbally every time I've ever heard anyone refer to more than one Shaman in real life. Curiously I don't remember seeing it written. Clear auditory memory, fuzzy text.

I'd feel a little awkward referring to more than one female barbarian in one sentence as Shamen.

Not the place to mention this... but shouldn't female rangers wear single-breasted tunics?

Maybe that is just certain parts of the Shaman.
