Ok, maybe im catching the drift of what you guys are saying, but at the same time im confused as to how the stuff get's there and HOW do i know what i should be looking for? Or is this one of those secrets that the high council of hardcore gamers keeps to there deaths? I dont know about the rest of you but i dont have a ton of time to be trying to farm plat this way and that, so a little knowledge of some things to look for on these "Vendor diving" missions (no abbreviations plz, i barely know what your talking about) would be greatly appreciated!!

Vendor Diving just means running around to various vendors and diving (scrolling down) through everything they have for sale in hopes of finding something useful to either use or sell in the bazaar (Including but not limited to Blue Diamonds, Prestidigitase, Glossy Drake Hides, etc).
Some people have set ones they run to, for example cycling through PoK's base and/or not its library; going through the merchants in the base of the bazaar and the tradeskill room, vendors that are near the faithstone/origin points in various cities, or guild hall vendors (if you're in a larger guild which will most likely have someone sitting AFK in the hall 95% of the day).
Usually the best time to do this is in the few days following a server reset, although for less used merchants it can stretch on a little longer until their inventories become full (as once a merchants inventory is full, any further items sold to it are 'destroyed' by that merchant). It is also possible, if you are so inclined, to find some of the more high traffic merchants with full inventories and purchase and destroy (or sell to another merchant) the items in their inventory that are least expensive and/or they have the least of. By doing this you are opening up some more inventory for players to sell items and hopefully they might sell some you are after. (It is generally best to go with the least common items, even if they are a bit more expensive - say a certain yaeth's page vs bone chips. By leaving more common items you keep those common items from taking back up a merchant space you just freed up).
Hope that helps clear things up a bit.

*edit: Things to look for (definately not limited to just these, just ones that spring to mind as high demand):
Blue Diamonds, Taafetite (sp), Glossy Drake Hides, Metallic Drake Scales, Crushed Diamond Dust, Pile of Gravel, Small Brick of Yttrium, Horse Meat, Treant Heart, any Treant Branches (not sure which sell to vendors), Nightmare Silk, Storm Volaas Hair).. there are many more and their value between servers will probably vary. A good way is to look at what is selling/buying in the bazaar, and go from there.Last edited by Queletan; 11-25-2006, 04:43 PM.Queletan Heartforge - House of Sloth

Is there a way to know which vendors will have this stuff? Or is only by what players sell to them, or do they have it in there inventory?Amun Rhah - 63 Oracle - Maelin Starypyre - 277 unmodded alchemy, nothing else matters (yet!)

*Edit: Some people do mention the idea of 'seeding' vendors from time to time. In essence, clearing some slots from a vendor, and then selling 1 of an item or items that they are interested in buying, so that if anyone else sells the same item it will be saved by that vendor. While this could work for items that are less in demand/less expensive (like Spider Silk or Lava Rocks) I would not recommend doing it with anything you really want (Blue Diamonds/Drake Scales) because there is about a 99.9% chance that someone else will stroll by and pick up your 'seeded' item.Last edited by Queletan; 11-25-2006, 06:26 PM.Queletan Heartforge - House of Sloth

On the same vender in Thurg:
1 Discordant Scoraie
4 essence of discord
6 pieces of magnetic looted items(smashed, ect)
3 stacks of Powder of Ro.
I actually USED all of it as I have a shammy bot that's 300 unmodded with the 15% modifier orb from Luclin. Turned the Scoraie into a Radiant Sodalite of Pure Sight. Used the Essences for a Robe of Strife(USED to sell really well too).
The powder became 2+ stacks of Skinspikes X(dang fizzles)
Somebody left some fine stuffs on that vender!Last edited by hiyawathadan; 12-11-2006, 09:45 AM.Master Artisan Hiyawathadan

I'm rather addicted to vendor-diving myself. So much so that I check vendors everyday, and check any I pass >.< My sister and the friends I've made ingame laugh at me for it... but I just can't help it!
Today, I found:
29 HQ bear pelts
100 odd random quality pelts from Low to High
82 Spiderling silks
61 Spider Silks
15 Hearty Goblin Blood
2 Muramite Residue
several bricks, blocks and pieces of acrylia
12 Blue Diamonds
A handful of Sensate Reishi Lenses and Belt of Leathery Fungus'
Damaged, Ruined, Tanned etc Bazu/Feran skins (about 13)
Steppes Ore
Various Innovative and Clockwork pieces (PoI tinker drops <3)
Non-Tradeskill use I got (non for me, that is)
49 Mt. Death Mineral Salts
60 odd Green Goblin Skins
8 Giant Warrior Helmets (Working on Coldain and Sarnak faction on new characters)
... and I haven't even been to PoK yet.
All-in-All, for the items I don't need personally, I've made 12k in the bazaar selling these to the players using the Barter window. I could have made more putting them on the trader, but why bother? I'll find more, I'm sure
Now to find myself some Bazu Blood...
Edit: Went to PoK, found:
5 Blue Diamonds,
2 Branches of Sylvan Oak
and...
2 Square Cut Taaffeite
My jaw hit the ground with the last item. Taaffeite is expensive and rare on my server, starting at 20k for certain cuts and climbing up from there.Last edited by imrielle; 12-15-2006, 06:19 PM.

Ok this has to be the oddest form of vendor dive i have run across. I have been telling my Wife (in game and out) for a couple years that if something has a tradeskills tag to ask me before she gets rid of it. I have always seemed to feel that she tends to not hear what I say half the time and just pretends. Well yesterday after about 6 months of the circle of real life having us never home at the same time we actually got a few hours to play together. Any way i decided to make a run of gem studded chains to try and get my last few points in JC and my wife was enchanting the silver bars for me, when she says "Hey, you wanna look through this junk on my mules so i can actually store something" Long story short is
7 stone beans
5 MDS
3 glossy hides
54 hero parts
4-5 stack each of bazu and feran bloods
countless hides pelts and furs
Come to find out for the last 6 months she has been saving every single tradeskill tagged item she has foraged, looted or found and stored them on 9 full to the rafters mules waiting for me to get to sort through it all (i still have 5 mules to go she has noted as "papers and runes")
