EQDruids, and EQBeastlord were both acquired by everyone's favorite platinum salesman. From what I've seen on EQDruids the main sites appear to have been transformed into some hideous creation. Both Message Boards continue to be run by the previous admins, and the new owner is claiming he won't interfere.

But I for one am very very dis-heartened by the loss of EQDruids, and had been to EQBeastlord more than once, and found it to be a knowledgeable resource.

If I haven't said it lately, or ever, I want it to be known that I greatly respect you, Niami and Ngreth. I know that more than once, this person has offered more money than I care to think about to give him our favorite website. And , I pray, that you continue to follow your stonestance, and not let him get a hold of yet another community messageboard.

Now, If you'll excuse me, I'm off to bow my head for a few moments, and head over to the Druid's Grove.

Ok.... *sigh* EQDruids is NOT horribly broken. It's just had the front page co-opted.

All the DATA and PAGES are where they used to be (left side menu) before.

The front page just has some freakish links to other websites. Some of which actually turned out to be valuable info. (Finally got a good list of where my ornate armor patterns might drop.)

The admins/mods and I of EQDruids have discussed this in great detail.

We have decided to continue the tradition on EQDruids on a new site, what will soon be norrathdruids.org.

My post about this can be seen here and any and all support you can give for the new site would be greatly appriciated.

Our aim is to keep the EQDruids community and information together, on an ad free site, so stop by and check it out

For those that don't want to click the link, the start of the site is at www.synthea.com/druid - as soon as we have enough donations, the domain name and hosting will be purchased and the site moved, complete with new forums (but we will try to move all the posts off of ezboard)

So what's so terrible about the person who bought the websites and what is feared that he is going to do that would cause so many folks to start fleeing to a new site?

Two reasons, basically:
1) Absor stated he would not post on any board owned or run by Yantis. Assuming this is SOE policy rather than something personal by Absor (a logical assumption I would think), that would cut these communities off from the possibility ofofficial communication, which is intolerable to many.

2) Many people don't like Yantis' business, period. While people don't seem to mind breaking the EULA in general and seem to think nothing of it, the "Ebayer" subcategory seems to generally be despised.

Edit- Just in case anyone doesn't know, Yantis' business is running a character & plat buying & selling service.

I don't feel comfortable saying much of anything about this topic since I am a moderator for The Druid's Grove but I will certainly offer my condolenses to those who felt they have lost their community. The Grove is always open for anyone. =)

What I dont understand is why the owners of the boards/sites didnt open up the offer to the readers/contributers/etc. before accepting the offers(Unless Unnamed Person said something like "You say anything about this to anyone and ill beat you up behind the jungle gym...or not give you the mone"). There are so many people out there that really dont like UP that I bet they would be more than...

You know, I was halfway through my thought when I realized something. Suppose the owners did offer to sell the sites/boards to the readers/contributers/etc., who would actually own it? Everyone? One person? Whoever paid the most? I guess I just answered my own question that I never got around to asking(Thank you Mr. Brain Synapse for firing slowly today).

Ok, well then lemme say this! If UP ever offers to buy up this place, I for one will be willing to donate as much money as I can spare to keep this place out of his hands and I'm sure there are others who agree with me. (I hope this stayed flame free).

Absor's decision was a personal decision. Yantis runs the Monkly Business site, so Absor refused to post in their forums (I think the forums are run seperately though). Other people from SOE still post there, without getting in trouble.

It is my understanding that despite the fact that the boards were not going to be interfered with, any mention of the new sites made for the people who frequented the ones purchased, have been removed from the message boards. In particular, any mention of the new BL site on the Yantis purchased site boards have been removed quickly. So I am told, never visited the site before or after the purchase, so, can't say from personal experience.
