  • Vendor mining is not dead

Recently I have found on merchants:

    - a Highly Polished Gem for ~13pp
    - 2 Words of Torment for ~8pp each
    - Yaeth’s page 26 right (hello KEI for my chanter alt!)

and these are just a few items.

WOOT! Hello nice fat bank account, I missed you. I know you won’t be around long since I AM a Tradeskiller after all, but it’s nice to see five digits again.

Now, what I want to know is:

WHO is the clueless person selling these to merchants and can I follow them around?

oh no, VMing is not dead at all. I found 2 Words of Virtue that I resold for 50p each.

I also found a Rune of Tempest and totally DID NOT REALIZE WHAT IT WAS!!! I tried to go back and find it again, but no, someone else ninja'd it off the vendor.

Dumb thing should be Rune of Torment Iroke ^_^

Vendormining is the main reason I have no bank space. Vendormining is there reason I have 8 boxes of Baskets and 8 boxes of Beer for MTPs. Vendormining is where I have gotten 90pct of the pelts I've either used to skill up Tailoring on, or made leather padding out of, and thus have a 10 slot box FULL of LPs. Phear me.

I find great and fun things while vendormining. Who says it's dead? Fools. ^_^

Best find I have made since the vendor slot nerf - an air alabaster beak! Sold that right quick for 5k. The greedy person in me wonders if I should've priced it higher, but the tradeskill part is happy with the instant money to reinvest in skill raising.

Vendor mining is not dead, but requires a great deal more luck and timing (best time to farm is the day after patches.)

The best things I found lately were 2 Vegerog vines a couple nights ago and an elemental stone last week.

Timing is definately everything. Seems to me the best place is PoTranq shortly after patches & crashes.

As for alabaster beaks, I have only had 1 so far which I paid 3500 for in the bazaar at the same time as an Ivory Storm Rider Canine for 10K & an Air Diamond for 600pp. After a successful combine I had 14.1K into A Ceramic Totem of Xegony Which I sold a few days later for 50K. The next night I found a Canine on a vendor which I still have since I have been unable to get another Beak despite offering as much as 15K on my servers auction channel.

Speaking of planar diamonds, I keep a supply of gray diamonds of storms on my seller. Buy both the raw diamonds and storm rider in the baz, cast the spell and boom, turn around and make profit (diamond + blood is usually 250ish, I sell them for 500).

PoK Library 2-4 days after patch (or crash) is always my favorite. Last time I was there I found some nice little monk toys for my alt, a hq brute hide for guildie, a few rare racial meats for potions.... That was after the vendor inventory change, although only a few of the many vendors in there usually have a full inventory anyway.

My most memorable vendor find ever was a copy of Moonfire on one of the necro vendors in the Library a while back. Hee hee, the two guild druids on at the time sounded like they were about to jump through their monitors when they heard me ask if it's worth nabbing off a vendor. That was before the changes but the vendor had only a few other things.

              Please delete this thread.

(They're giving away all my secrets!)

All your vendors belong to me!!!!!

Seriously, though, I love mining. I'm sure I would be 65 already if I didn't spend so much time checking merchants for treasures. (One mans trash is anothers treasure, and all that.)

While I do have "favorite" merchants that I check when I have only a little time, I have found that just about any merchant, anywhere, can have "good stuff."

Everything in my magelo has been purchased through profitable vendor mining.

I've definitely had good luck mining over the last few weeks, and on at least a couple occasions, well after the last server reset. Some examples...

100+ low-quality rockhopper pelts (on one vendor)
120+ shadeling silk (on another vendor)

                Hello, leather padding for sale...

                1 Highly Polished Gemstone
120+ enchanted silver bars (jewelry work soon!)
Bunches of LDoN Temper materials (and yet, not one skill-up! Argh!)

It still works, just a matter of timing!

Perchance remember roughly what the vendor sold it for? I know vendors *hugely* up the price for enchanted cultural metals (large brick is ~17pp, enchanted large brick ~280pp), I've been curious if they did the same with the jewelry metals.

My druid is preparing for a pottery skill-up session to reach 222 with Opal Encrusted Steins. She was quite pleased to find over four stacks of lacquered opals, which sell for just a few plats each, on one of the PoK jewelcraft vendors.

HAHAHAHAHAH - I pulled just over 300p worth of enchanted silver off a vendor in pok... I kept thinking, 'he'll stop soon, how much enchanted silver would someone sell back to a vendor anyway...'

Since I am a magpie and have both my available alts full of stuff, the silver is taking up a precious 26 slots... so i was relatively sickened by the fact that it only took me 3 stacks of the enchanted silver to go through that part of JC....

So now I put a stack at a time on my trader. So far only 1 stack has sold.

An aquaintance found over 100 tainted planar essesces in PoTranq last night before the patch. Nice find, as she's doing pottery.

VMing is fun. I wish I could have more alts to store things on.

So, what are the chances my voice would be heard if I advocated a 'mule' class? Very low on graphics, it is a non-playable charactor that is used only for storing things and can buy trader satchels at half price ^_^. (in initial theory, maybe making them good for bazaar mules, and low graphics lessenning bazaar lag? don't let this turn into a flamewar about bazaar lag, i'm just speculating on the fly here.)

And best of all, being a non-player Charactor, I can use my other 5 charactor slots on Sullon for their bank space. ^_^!!!!!!! ooh, the possibilities....
