  • Happy scream -- FINALLY!!!!

    Thank goodness for LDoN!

After tireless vendor mining for the past several days, I collected enough temper ingredients to make 205 tempers (after a failure or two). I sat down and made several stacks of medium quality folded sheet metal. I set myself up for a run, hoping beyond hope I would FINALLY break past 196.

The 190s have been sheer hell. From 194-195 took 105 combines. I was up over 200 combines to get over 196 when I started my run this morning.

Things didn't look good. But then, at combine number 238 (the 206 combines I had before plus the 32 I did) I FINALLY broke the wall and got 197 in smithing.

I made stuff til I ran out of sheet metal. (I reported the numbers backward on the channel so I apologize if my numbers seemed inflated). I did 133 total combines and have 72 tempers left, but not only did I break 196, I am now at skill 205 in blacksmithing!

Including the 33 combines it took to get my first skillup, I averaged a little under 15 combines a skillup. Finally, the RNG cut this poor little shadowknight a break.

      Woohoo! Many hearty gratz! =)

I too have been blessed by the smithing aspects of LDoN. First, the skillups I got off the items were quite astounding, and now, I'm selling the pieces as fast as I can make them.

I've posted this before, but I do feel the rate at which you get skillups on LDoN armors is faster than what I was getting on human cultural Field Plate armor. I've purposely avoided keeping close track of my skillups and costs, but with FP, I was getting one skillup per stack or two -- say, one per 30 combines on average. This is over maybe 12 stacks so far.

Contrast that with LDoN armors. Using three stacks of tempers, I got about two skillups per stack. Granted, the sample size is quite small, but all the other folks I've asked or heard from also say that LDoN is helping the smithing skills a lot.

As to sales ... I can't keep the Gothic armors in stock. Frosted and Sandblasted are doing OK, but Gothic is selling as fast as I can get tempers to smith more.

I even had someone trade me a Fine Heraldic BP for a full suit of Gothic armor -- even though he could have sold the BP for double to triple what I charge for a full suit.

All in all, I'm ready to stamp the smithing in LDoN a resounding success.
