  • Driver help.

A few days ago, I finally broke down and bought a new video card, ATI's All-In-Wonder 9600, after having for years my old 3Dfx VooDoo 5500. However, now when I log into EQ, it tells me that I need different drivers. I've been all over ATI's site, and I can not, for the life of me find them. Even with the message, however, I can still log in, though after a while, my system locks up.

I do admit, that my knowledge of computers when it comes to hardware and drivers is rather limited, so if anyone could possible point me in the right direction, I would be so grateful. Thank you.

Below is an exact quote of the message that pops up:
"You currently have a ALL-IN-WONDER 9600 Series (4.14.1.227) video card installed. We recommend that you download version 6430 drivers before playing EverQuest. You can pick up these drivers at http://www.ati.com/support/driver.html"

when you go to http://www.ati.com/support/driver.html there should be 3 boxes.

first click on your operating system (probably XP... but may be older)...
    second click on "Graphic Driver"...
    third click on "RAEDEON FAMILY"
    fourth click on GO

this should lead you to the CATALYST (your os here) 4.9 - Driver Download

I am fairly certain that that is a RAEDEON card

Its probably telling you this for better compatability issues, I know for a while when i would logon it asked me to download a differnt driver for my video card even though the one i was using was a WHQL cert'd driver for nvidia, my guess is that the card you using has drivers that has yet to be tested on eq so it could cause instability in game, which would then force you to start complaining to there cust service.

Here's a link to the driver installations that you need for EQ. Click here

        Hope this helps!

Cool, I appreciate it. Really wanted to get these problems solved before Tuesday. Would've been so disappointed if my system couldn't handle Omens.

            Drivers & OoW

Rather than starting a new thread i figured i'd ask my question here.
I just picked up Omens of War. I noticed that the required/recommended driver is 256. I have a 128.
Has anyone been able to run the game with a 128 by turning of the graphics portion off the expansion? I'm going for the "content" & toys rather than the "pretty picture" at the moment.
(Everquest.com was down when I went to check there)

Got home.. and actually read the package a bit better.. and looked at my pc info.. looks like im ok.. i hope :-)
I just had an idiot moment today.
            Hiding now.
