Vor Westrider in Qeynos gives the quests

[Sat Feb 19 13:54:04 2005] Logging to 'eqlog.txt' is now *ON*.
[Sat Feb 19 13:54:07 2005] You say, 'Hail, Vor Westrider'
[Sat Feb 19 13:54:07 2005] Vor Westrider says ''And hail to you as well, traveler. What news? It's nice to hear from someone of mixed heritage like myself. I often fear our kind will never be fully understood by either elves or human. Though we pass through their lands, we are always a little [uncomfortable] in either community. At least we half elves understand each other.'
[Sat Feb 19 13:54:10 2005] You say, 'uncomfortable'
[Sat Feb 19 13:54:11 2005] Vor Westrider says ''You know what I mean. When traveling through elven communities, we must duck under their doorways and when visiting our human kin, we receive skeptical stares at our pointed ears. Not to mention, it's impossible to find armor from either race that fits properly. Human clothing is baggy in the shoulders and elven armor tends to chafe in the . . . well. . . you know what I mean, [right]?'
[Sat Feb 19 13:54:12 2005] You say, 'right'
[Sat Feb 19 13:54:15 2005] Vor Westrider says 'Tell you what -- I contracted a half elven artisan to make me a pattern book for armor specifically for us. I made a suit and it fits perfectly. If you'd like, I can make you a copy of the pattern [book]. I also have some advanced armor [patterns] you may be interested in.'
[Sat Feb 19 13:54:17 2005] You say, 'book'
[Sat Feb 19 13:54:18 2005] Vor Westrider says 'Excellent, I can make you a pattern book, but first I'm going to need some materials. Bring me a fire beetle carapace for the cover, a patch of zombie skin for the pages, a golden bandit tooth for the clasp, and a lion tail to grind down and make a salve which will protect and preserve the finished product. I have heard these resources can be found in Western Karana. Once I have these things, I can create the pattern book for ya.'
[Sat Feb 19 13:54:21 2005] You say, 'patterns'
[Sat Feb 19 13:54:21 2005] Vor Westrider says 'These, I cannot give away, but I can share them with you provided you are willing to help make Norrath safe for us wanderers again. I'm currently working with the city of Qeynos to secure trade routes outside the city gates. We need someone to lead expeditions into [Erud's Crossing], [Kedge Keep],the [Dragon Necropolis] or, if you've got the metal for it, the [valley] on the other side of the lavastorm mountains. Interested? The more difficult the expedition the more powerful the armor pattern, I can provide.'
    [Sat Feb 19 13:54:32 2005] You say, 'erud's crossing'
[Sat Feb 19 13:54:32 2005] You have been assigned the task 'Clearing the Western Sea Lanes'.
[Sat Feb 19 13:54:32 2005] Vor Westrider says 'Excellent, I knew I could count on you. It seems our ocean trade routes are in trouble. I need you to venture into Erud's Crossing and clear out twenty sharks. That should curb their attacks on our sailors. When you've finished dispatching the creatures, bring me four lake pebbles from their stomachs as proof of your kills.'
[Sat Feb 19 13:54:41 2005] You say, 'kedge keep'
[Sat Feb 19 13:54:41 2005] You have been assigned the task 'Clearing the Eastern Sea Lanes'.
[Sat Feb 19 13:54:41 2005] Vor Westrider says 'The city's ocean trade routes aren't as secure as we need them to be. Several of our cargo ships have disappeared while sailing to Freeport and Faydwer. Sure enough, the wreckage inevitably washes up near Kedge Keep. Swim into that keep and kill fifty mermaids. Return to me with several vials of ocean ink. That should thin their numbers out a bit.'
[Sat Feb 19 13:54:46 2005] You say, 'dragon necropolis'
[Sat Feb 19 13:54:47 2005] You have been assigned the task 'Scale and Bone'.
[Sat Feb 19 13:54:47 2005] Vor Westrider says 'The city has lost several expeditions into the dragon necropolis over the past months. It's the rat creatures that have been sneaking upon our excavators in the dark tunnels. Kill eighty of these creatures and return to me with four old dragon horns. That should clear them out for the time being.'
[Sat Feb 19 13:55:01 2005] You say, 'valley'
[Sat Feb 19 13:55:01 2005] You have been assigned the task 'Lair of the Lavaspinner'.
[Sat Feb 19 13:55:01 2005] Vor Westrider says 'I'm glad you volunteered! Our scouts have been having trouble in the dragon lands north of Lavastorm. Seems the spiders have been tracking our movements and ambushing our scouts. I need you to lead an expedition into the Lavaspinner's Lair and slay six score denizens of the delve. Bring me four arachnid eye clusters as proof of your kills. You may wish to seek out some operatives in Lavastorm to aid you in tracking down these rare items.'

              Ancestral Half Elven Armor

Vor Westrider is located in North Qeynos near the Priest of Discord. If you give him a Fire Beetle Carapace, a Golden Bandit Tooth, a Lion Tail and a Zombie Skin he will give you a book entitled: Ancestral Half Elven Armor. Opening the book gives the following information:

"Gifted with the characteristics of two races, half elves can adapt to either human or elven society with relative ease.
Despite this, half elves have no free-standing culture of their own and often fear they are doomed to be perpetual awkwardness among either of their parent races. For this reason, Vor Westrider traveled the world and consolidated this book of uniquely half elven armor designs. These designs are light-weight enough to allow for a half elf's innate elven nimbleness, but are also heavy enough to take advantage of half elves' human-inherited heartiness.

The patterns in this book can be copied many times, but eventually they will wear out and you can tell that if you use the patterns enough you will need to replace the book.

To create pattern for tailoring armor templates based on these patterns you will need this book, a large bottle of ink, a roll of plain parchment, a quill and a compacted backpack to hold the patterns you will make. You'll also need a book binding to do the work.

If you wish to use the patterns to make molds you'll need a kiln to work in as well as a high quality firing sheet, sculpting tools, a huge block of clay and a compacted backpack to hold the molds when you're done."

I've never heard of most of these items myself, so if anyone could list where they can be found I would be most appreciative.

Journeyman's Book of Half Elven Culture

When you complete the task: "Clearing the Western Sea Lanes", Vor Westrider will give you the following book: Journeyman's Book of Half Elven Culture. Opening the book gives the following information:

"Half elven armor symbols borrow heavily from the characteristics of both elven and human symbols. Many of the half elven armor symbols are based on high elf designs, but incorporate human 'suffixes' and elaborations. The result is a hybrid language of armor runes and an evolved art form distinct from either of its parent branches.

This book contains the most rudimentary of half elven armor symbols. Although they offer only a slight degree of protection, they have the advantage of being easy to create and usuable by most half elves. Ideally, half elves will begin with these symbols and work their way up to more advanced designs. You know that you will be able to reproduce this pattern many times before the book becomes worn and you must replace it.

To create patterns for tailoring armor templates based on these patterns you will need this book, a large bottle of ink, a roll of vellum, a quill and a compacted backpack to hold the patterns you will make.

You'll also need a book binding to do the work."

Again, information on locating these items would be appreciated.

For folks that are having a hard time finding sharks, here is a useful trick. When your in most old world bodies of water, if you carefully position yourself so half your view is above water and half is below, the half that is below will be clear as day. You will see the floor to the horizen and anything that is swiming within your view. Click on the shark, shoot one arrow and they will come too you.

Copied all these quest details to the quest writeup, which is not yet available. (You half elves did a great job, here, btw.) I'll keep this thread here until that writeup is viewable.

Can anyone confirm whether you get directed to a particular city or if you can start in any of the half elf cities? We seem to have two conflicting reports on that here.

Also, I need the name, location, and how-to-find-them details for the quest giver in Kelethin. (Also, is there one for Freeport? Surefall?)
