*sigh* so, we have the pattern books....

Now, has anyone found where the "quill" drops, is purchased, or which cloud over POK we pull it from? saw a thread somewhere that they were on Meeka Diggs at one point in time, now they are "a quill" DNC

You need the Fractured Femur that does not have the Sv Disease +2. I did the one in Tox and sure as the world the next bonemender I killed dropped the right femur as well after I had already done the turn in and I checked with the halfling and it was the right one. Hope this helps.

          On to the book strats:

First, the journeyman's book... I would suggest doing this task at the same time you're working on the pattern book because you WILL get a minotaur horn while farming axes. The hardest part of this book was getting the PBB to drop, but it finally did offa' the named evil eye after about 30 kills.

Next, the expert book.... You'll have to go to the hole (ruins of old paineel) and as luck would have it, halflings can just slide in to the opening on the right hand side. You'll kill a lot more earth elems than it calls for to get your 10 drops of mercury. When you clear the front, come in a bit, keep pushing forward and you'll get to a place with lotsa *other* mobs. DO NOT go down there. Go up the lil' bridge into the hut (you'll likely aggro two when you open the door unless yer invis) but there are gobs and gobs of earth elems from that point forward. For the second part you only need 1 drop of mercury thankfully. The second part took me a fraction of the time.

Lastly, the master book... Go into KC. Go as forward as you can (when you pass under the fort, the mobs see invis past there) ... I'm gonna' speak from a druid's perspective and hopefully this info will help the rest of you, although you'll have to change the strat. Make sure you have stacked regens and DS's and have an AE and fast heal loaded... once past the fort just run straight ahead and left, and IMMEDIATELY to the right and wedge yourself in that corner. You should have between 3 and 6 mobs on you with a NASTY knockback that will interrupt your casting unless you've pinned yourself. Just let loose with the AE, let the DS do it's thing and watch your health. Once all those mobs are dead continue that way, you'll aggro more mobs, go into the next room and IMMEDIATELY to the right to pin yourself into that corner. Repeat AE and heals. Once cleared you'll see a well. (I hope you have lev, but if not you should still be OK, it's not a long fall and it's into water) This will be your home for the next 8 hours. There are mobs all over the durn place. More often than the mobs you need, the prisoners pop. Kill those anyway, because they are place holders. The second part again took a fraction of the time. Go into venril sathir's lair and you will find the skelleys you need around there. Again, kill ALL skelleys in sight because they are all PH. It took 2 rounds of pops for me to get the 4 mobs I needed. You can go ahead and loot a bone chips off of ANY mob you kill on the way to VS's lair and that will fulfull that part of the task.

I hope you find this info helpful. If you need help getting to VS's room, just ;t tholuxe.teenyweenee and I"ll try to help ya get there =)

I can confirm that after the patch on March 3, 2005 the quest is still not working with the femur from runnyeye. I haven't been able to obtain a femur from the paineel quest yet, so I don't know if the quest femur still works or not.

It does work. Check each one of your items. They changed the bead necklace to minotaur horn. If you are still getting bad results, turn in the items one by one. The message for good items is that he needs all items at once. Bad items, he says he has no use for em.

I can confirm that it does work. It works if you notice that the beads were changed to a minotaur horn as the above poster noted.

The femur from runnyeye does not work after the patch. I went today (March 5th) and tried the turn in. Turned each item in 1 at a time. Horn was fine, Cat skull cap was fine, a bunch of optic nerves was fine, The fractured femur got a "you can have this back" message.

I've turned in 12 useless caps so far and only bone chips and zombie skins so far. Has anybody gotten the Tox femur since the patch?

                    The quest has been changed.
You no longer need the fractured femur. Instead you need a minotaur horn.

He asks for the Femur. Is the text wrong now? and you need...The beads still?

Sorry, yes you do need the fractured femur BUT it's the correct fractured femur that drops in Runnyeye. You no longer need the beads, instead you need the minotaur horn. The revamped quest seems much easier than before, as the beads were sort of hard to find. You can actually tell if a minotaur is carrying a horn. Also, we started a tradition on my server... once you've completed the parts you need and are farming the Evil Eyes for that task, keep killing the minotaurs until they have either a horn or an axe in their hand while waiting for EE repops. This will make life easier for the next halfling who comes along =)

                        Now, for MY question.....
I can't seem to find any info on what drops Racnar hides apart from Halls of Testing in ToV which is a raid zone. Racnar hides are needed for master level. I've already farmed some of the manes needed for grandmaster level even tho I won't be able to do those until I hit 70 (which will be very soon) Surely, there is somewhere Racnar Hides can be farmed solo, if the next hardest level is dropped by a group mob.
                        Anyone know?

I tried it again this morning. I went and got a "fresh" femur from runnyeye.

I turned in the Minotaur horn, Cat skull cap, and a bunch of optic nerves I got the "you must turn in all quest items at the same time" message.

I turned in the femur and got the "you can have this back" message.

I'm not confused about the turn ins so no more reminding about the horn :P

Have you done the turn in after the patch? Was it with items pre or post patch? And where exactly did you get them from? I am only hung up on the femur. I tried the tox skellys and still no femur from them. Honestly I am at a loss on a next corse of action if anybody has any ideas.

I can't offer much on the rancors except HoT is not really a raid zone anymore. I use to single group there for armor drops to sell when people still had some desire for em. That was during PoP I would think now it would be cake to 2 BoX it with a knight (for aggro controll you will get ADDs) or a full group if you want to actually kill a fair amount of them in a hour

I did my turnin post patch. Did you try handing in the femur, cap, optic nerves, and horn all at the same time? That's what worked for me.

                              Two femurs drop in Runnyeye?

Tried to complete the quest this morning, 6:15 AM EST.

Attempted to turn in items all at same time. Got the red "You must turn in all quest items at once to complete this quest text."

Attempted turn-in one at a time. Only the Fractured Femur yielded a return text. (Bill Whistletop says 'I have no use for Snickerdoodle, you can have it back.')

The femur was fresh, and looted off of the only bonemender I saw in about an hour of slaughtering goblins. It does have the +2 SV DISEASE.

Am I to understand from these posts that both femurs drop in Runneye now? Do they drop off of anything except bonemenders? What are the placeholders for bonemenders?

After an additional two hours in Runnyeye, found five more Pickclaw bonemenders. Every one dropped a fractured femur, and every one was lore with the wrong kind of femur. If folks are finding the "right" factured femur somewhere in Runnyeye, I'd really love to know where.
