  • Poison Info in Story Window, Mod Finished (edited)

While making my 3rd char as a mule for my baker druid, I realized... 'what class??' So I ended up making a HalfElf Rogue. (Haven't played any, other than to book her to Pok and start transferring things.)

This has gotten me thinking about Poison... I look at the poison recipe page, and I go...... "How on Earth am I going to categorize all this??"

    So, I'll ask the rogues.

How do you like your information grouped? Alphabetically? By trivial? By effect type? Type of vial/suspension? What information in that chart is particularly important (ie, should be highlighted with color) and what is not so important (be left as white text)?

Mucho feedback appreciated. (I will also make the Poison files available as their own package, so Rogues who don't tradeskill won't have to have all that useless info.)

there's a link to a screenshot page on there, for the curious.

    Edit.
Yeah, I can't spell. took me forever to get one R in 'tomorrow' and they say i still don't spell 'tounge' right. so sorry. ~_~. It's because 'rouge' and rogue' look so darn similar!! like, ANY male name that begins with 'J' I can't keep separate from any other. Silly French, trying to confuse me like that. ^_^

Good job; I prefer list by trival myself.

But please, please, PLEASE correct "Rouge" to "Rogue". "Rouge" is French for "red" and is the stuff women (and some men) put on their cheeks

Since I'm not really going to be skilling up on EVERY poison on the list - I'd prefer it by trival too.

And as far as the important information, for skilling up I'd look at the trival, but for actually USING them, I'd want to know what effects they have/duration/what type of mob it's most effective etc., above anything else.

You're really doing a great job with these mods, I'm impressed with how quickly you're coming along with them!

Do the classic (Old World) poisons from Tier I thrugh Tier V, sub-ordered through each Tier by trivia. This is the layout that Quip Quarrel of Tarew Marr used for his poison sheets over on The Safehouse's Laboratory forum (http://pub146.ezboard.com/fthesafeho...cID=2195.topic is the thread where they are) and it's become (to me) the classic way to lay them out. You may wish to visit Kiky's Posonous Pages (http://kikyara.tripod.com/) to double check on some trivials. Also, as Quip hasn't updated his sheets in some time, he hasn't added in the fact that all recipes are confirmed working.

For Advanced Poisons I'd sort them by Tier 1 and Tier 2, and keep the same order of type of effect between Tier listings. Check out http://home.attbi.com/~corinari/ for the recipes.

For the three recipes introduced by Legacy of Ykesha, you might consider lumping them in with the Advanced Poisons as a Tier 0, as they have more in common with those recipies then Classic.

        Hope this input helps.

sounds like a good plan, but, just for the education of a non-rouge... what is a tier?

http://thesafehouse.org/~tibis/recipes.html will be my other guide, other than the EQTC one of course. ^_^

ETA on this specifically not specified... -_-... someone went and made me guildleader, and with the assignments of school papers, a whole lot of things are getting shoved to middle and back burners real fast. But it WILL GET DONE. durnit. ^_^

thnx turlie for the lift of spirit. ^_^

For classic poisons, Tier is usually used to refer to a strength category of effect. For example, Contact I (first tier Contact poison) is weaker than Contact IV (fourth tier contact poison), although you'll need to be quite a high-level rogue to get the full benefit of Contact IV. Weaken I is also a first tier poison, as it's geared for about the same level of character as Contact I.

If you look at the sheet you linked to, you'll see that column 2 is "Type" while column three is headerless, but has "I" through "V" in them.

For Advanced Poisons (which aren't listed on that sheet), the Tier is determined as to whether you are using Amber resin or a Drop of Mercury (and an extra ingredient).

I hope this clears it up for you.

              (edited)

              Sunday April 20, Easter.

              Poison Mod Finished.

I will love you if you check it out and say 'good' or 'bad, fix this'.

Each Tier in it's own page (IV and V together). One index page (storyPoison.txt) linked to each Tier. Within each Tier, poisons ordered by trivial. Sound good?

Looks great for the classic poisons, was an easy decision to install it!

When attributing the guide on The Safehouse, could you mention Quip Quarrel explicitly please? He did a lot of work collating the data on classic poisons when they came out in that form. Thanks!

Are you going to do a seperate story text for the PoP and LoY advanced poisons (the link to Corinari's guide is earlier in the thread) ? My gut feelings would be that it would be a good idea.

One thought would be to organise it similarly to the way you did it for classic poisons, and have Miscellaneous Combines, LoY, Advanced Tier 1 and Advanced Tier 2 on seperate sheets again.

It's good work, thanks for what you've done so far!
