    A different approach

I note the comprehensive recipe lists being worked on by Sanna.

Personally I feel that I don't need a full list of recipes so much as a reminder for the most common recipes. This works for a brewer where there are relatively few regulars. I would rather have a short list of stuff I will use rather than wade through tons of recipes I will never use. I don't mind popping to EQtraders for anything unusual.

I've spent a couple of hours making a page of Skampy's favourite recipes with all subcombines. I plan to add a second page of skillup recipes for when people ask for advice. Once the servers come up I'll test it and I'll make it available if I'm happy with it.

All things working well I'll do the same with Baking next.

Oh and I forgot to mention, Thanks Quesci for this fabulous mod suggestion. beats the window mods hands down.

[Edited to thank Quesci which I stupidly forgot first time]

With the servers down today and me going out of town this week, I should have a good chunk of time to add some zone data. I doubt if I will get them all, or even most of them done (my jaw kind of dropped when I went to the location page and saw the number of zones--I guess I had blocked it out). I will start with the busiest or most important zones (PoK is done, of course. ShadowHaven will be next, etc...).

By Friday I hope to have Version 2.0 up with a bunch of the zone files in place. If I was smart I would have waited until the LoY data was fixed before starting this project, but then again who said I was smart?

        QUESCI IS SMART.

        There. I said it.

Hm... mod with simple/common recipes... not a bad idea. I can see how that would be useful to the specific person. Power to you, dude. (gah! that sounded SO eighties! I swear I never watched Ninja Turtles that much!)

Still plugging away at baking... you'd think the mod my roomie and I need the MOST, I could get done the quickest....

Altho you know what scares me the most?

        Updating trivials.
I still have yet to come up with a good plan for that.

I may be very wrong, but isn't it possible to open up a HTML page inside an XML window? if so, why not simply fire up a link to the EQTraders main site?

I love it! And there was me trying to find a way of bodging the xml files to do it......

Thanks for all the hard work and patience in doing this for us trade-skill junkies.

You can add a link, but it won't open inside the Story window. In fact, it won't open at all. The story window isn't a Web browser and cannot handle HTML files. It merely parses .TXT files with a few very basic formatting codes.

While you can certainly play EQ in a window and load up the EQTraders site in the background, this storyline tool makes it faster and easier to just grab that piece of information quickly.

Heck, I have three computers on my desk including one machine that I use for Web browsing and notes, but it is still handier to just pop open the Story window for a quick loc.

UPDATE: I'm still out of town but I will be home tonight. I've been able to enter into the tool almost every important zone (cities, newbie areas, major tradeskill zones) and quite a few of the more remote places that have tradeskill supplies. There are still LOTS for me to do, but they can wait. Look for an update tonight.

I'm not sure of the supported formatting, but would it be possible to get this table converted so it could be used for alchemy?

Ok, I got bored and decided not to wait for someone else to make an alchemy set of pages that showed potions, trivial, cost and ingredients. I took the info from the Shaman's Crucible web table and converted it.
There is a table of contents that sits in the main storyline directory and then a set of files that fall in an alchemy subdirectory.

                    You can get it here:
                    http://www.slege.com/downloads/storyAlchemy.ZIP

[edit 3/2/03] I updated the zip to include known LoY potions.

Did you rename the files? There should be three or four files named story***.txt in the storyline folder already, plus the storyEQTraders.txt and the eqtraders folder.

Is it possible that you have to copies of Everquest on your computer and this is the wrong one? That happened a lot to people when they installed PoP.

Formatting is not supported in the form of tables for the Story Window. so this layout which is the preferred method of us trade skillers, can't be reproduced in the story window. Also using standard ascii characters such as space, underscore, dash and pipe to simulate a table have had some disastrous results due to font type, font size, window resizing and screen resolution.

I found that out after some failed attempts. If you read above, I ended up just going in and butchering out my own version. Does anyone know of any other supported tags thatn <c> or line break?

FINALLY got it to work - nope one copy of the game - just keep extracting the files and nothing - then I got the files but links were broken - THEN I saw mom's post about the badword filter being reset - I turned it back on - re-extracted the files and bingo - and it's so nice - thanks for help and hardwork!

                                Jewelcraft!

Okay, I just finished making some very basic ones for basic Jewelcraft recepies (Silver + gem, Electrum + gem, Gold + gem, Platinum + gem, Velium + gem). Trivial list is here
                                http//www.geocities.com/kayohransom/jc_basic.txt
                                and Stat list is here
                                http//www.geocities.com/kayohransom/jc_stats.txt

You probably want to link these from the index_recepie.txt , so I added the following line into mine
                                <a href="file///storyline/eqtraders/jc_basic.txt"> Basic Jewelcraft Trivials </a>

If you have any corrections (this was done rather quick), send me a tell ingame (mithaniel.eaeadien) or email me.

Also, geocities aren't very good hosts, so if anyone wants to host these files (sanna?), PLEASE be my guest. )
