  • Where are the "how-to's"?

On making storylines. I am about to start leading our guild in raids and since we dont use a voice server, I want to make some storylines on raid events. Also figure tradskilling would be welcome on them as there are a lot of tradeskillers in my guild either just starting, or well seasoned and figure I can revamp some of the older quests needing some revising

200 begging is a pain, but it's achievable. Just work begging into whatever hotkey you use a lot during combat (e.g., taunt for a tank, evade for a rogue, etc.). If you're not a melee class ... that's trickier. A friend of mine said she raised begging and pick pockets by using them on the soulbinder in Shadowhaven, but I imagine it takes a LONG time to max them.

The main benefit of 200 begging is doing a certain step in the BiC quest that requies high begging skill. Other than that, it's just something to brag about.

Just used my guildmaster points on it. For enchanters there is nothing else really worth getting.
54 free points in all tradeskills via abysmal sea quests
21 points used for getting to 21 research.

All other skills raise easy. My 1hb, pierce, and 2hb is maxxed for it's level.

I, personally, went to an out-of-the-way spot with greenies where I wouldn't be interfering with XPers. Isle of Kerra worked great. You can gain begging skillups from any mob...even a level 1. So, just beg away...I chose an area with several spawns nearby...that way, if I did aggro one, I could just go to another. Didn't have that problem, though. They never aggro'd me.

Back to the question asked... I dont know if there are any how to posts for making story lines. The stories are just simple text files that use simple coding. <br> for line breaks and html code works it seems. any text file in the story folder in your eq directory will appear in game as long as it starts the title with storyYourtitlehere. After that its just a matter of typing things up. BTW, you can use pets for begging last I heard.

Nah. Used to be able to, but they fixed it...maybe 2 years ago or more? I've had begging maxxed for a long time, and it was nerfed before I did mine.

Another suggestion is to go fish next to some non-KoS NPC, target the NPC, and hit your Beg and Fishing hotkeys as often as they refresh.

I did most of my fishing/begging in corathus creep. At the small pond at the far north easr area of the zone, there is a stationary fish in the pond. I got begging skillup in between fishing. Since mob were under water, it remained indifferent the whole time.

Just to get this straight . . . you can beg from level 1 mobs, even if you are level 60+ . . . and get begging skill-ups? If so, I'm so getting to 200 this week. Weeee!

Well, the <br> I understand that. But some of the storylines I seen did not seem to conform to standard HTML other then color coding. Then adding in new folders if you click on there to goto a different page. I am really trying to figure it out. Lol

I suppose I can just make a plain and unattractive, but down to the point story line per mob. That would be easy. But I would hope to make a PoP story progression folder where you can click on mob link and have the full write up there. Tradeskills would be another plus

Not quite that easy. I spent about 15 Skill Points to get begging up to 16, then spent about 20 minutes trying to beg from merchants in PoK.... Not a single skill-up!

Imo PoK merchants don't work for begging. I remember trying that and getting frustrated after 2 hours and no skillups.

I got my begging to 151 in Abysmal Sea, begging one of the BiC quest npcs and watching TV. Took a long while tho.

Playing on progression server now, a melee character. I tied my bash / disarm / begging together (made a hotkey to turn attack off, do all 3, turn attack on), it has gone up to 11 by now. Mostly because I only found myself a shield two days ago. I got time until Gates of Discord tho... and then some.

It is *possible* that begging skillups won't work in PoK, Bazaar, PoT, and other non-aggro zones. I don't know that for sure, I'm just taking a wild guess (based on similar experience of my own before I moved to a newbie zone to try.)

Again, at level 65, I skillup up begging to 200 off of mobs in Kerra Isle (WAY green...they couldn't hardly outdamage my regen.) So, unless they have changed it...

Okay, then. Maybe that's it. I'll move on out to Freeport or something and try it there. Thanks for the reply!
