  • Tinkering Past 148 at Level 31

I currently have a 31st level gnome mage with 148 tinkering skill. I am interested in increasing her tinkering skill. I do have the Planes of Power expansion, but do not have access to anything other than the plane of knowledge due to the level of my characters. :?

I have been searching the bazaar and vendors for items from the planes, but have not had any luck in the matter. Can someone give me some advice on what would be the best way to skill up in this situation? I have been farming Luclin for geerlok materials, and have had some success in skilling up with these.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

If you're unable to get to PoI to get drops for yourself, have friends that are of level gather them for you. If you don't have that option, then unfortunately, Geerlok's will be your best bet until you are of level. Most of the items needed are droppable, so they can be traded from person to person easily enough.

      as a lvl 24 with 212 tinkering

It takes a little organisation and a bit of venture capital, but you can indeed send out traiding parties (raiding parties that bring back tradeskill things) to Poi and have them bring you back stacks or springs and ballbearings. This is pretty much all you need to skill up. If you want to make marketable items, you also need them to bring you back steel casings and vial of gasses.

I, as a level 24, find most of my materials scattered on merchants in PoK and bazaar. But you might have to educate you server a bit. I regularly send out public service announcements asking Planar parties to bring back all their planar junk to PoK and Bazaar so low lever tradeskillers can get at them. This seems to work a bit, I can find almost everything I need on merchants, except coiled springs because these are needed to skill up and as such are scooped up by the more...fanatical merchant miners.

Simply auctioning that you want to buy these materials with an indication where they can be found works wonders as well. I have several people that are 46 + that simply go to Poi (i can't, level 24 you see) and shop there. Easy money there.

But on AB tinker twinks are coming out of the woodwork so I'm having more and more difficulty keeping my stocks of springs and ballbearings up. I get enough to keep all devices and collapsed in stock, but to little to skill up on.

        Do Geerloks

Until they trivial at 215. I don't know about the other servers, but on Cazic-Thule the market for these is just about dead (read completely saturated). But at 31 you can farm the mob-drop bits yourself and make a bunch of combines (selling the results to vendors or just destroying them). Relatively cheap too (if you farm your own porous mineral blocks and such).
