    1) Check the sticky post at the top of the forum.
    2) If you tinker to get tinkered items, it's fun. If you tinker to get skillpoints in tinkering, it's hell.
    3) You're welcome.

If your looking for a trade skill that is fast and cheap to raise, brewing is the way to go. If you’re not in a hurry to gain points in a trade skill and your looking for something fun and a bit off the beaten path, then you may well enjoy tinkering. To give you some idea of cost at the lower end of tinkering, it cost my gnome about 1k plat to reach a skill of 102. After this point tinkering becomes even more expensive unless you farm porous mineral blocks. And they are only dropped by a single mob in one small area and they are usually camped. Brewing, on the other hand, should cost you less than 100pp to take all the way to 248.

But if you’re willing to make the commitment, tinkering is a lot of fun. Heck, a lot of people in game have no idea the skill even exists. You can make all kinds of toys to amaze your friends with. In short, tinkering is a blast, so to speak, but you’ll have to decide for yourself if it’s worth the effort.
