  • How hard are the >250 items?

In tailoring (my first love), while many things are trivial above 250, they are not equally hard. For example, Othmir Fur gives results that suggest the trivial is very close to 250 (5% failure rate), while velious armor has a failure rate of 50%.

With a skill a little bit over 200, I'd like to attempt some of the >250 trivial items without wasting a bunch of expensive stuff.

These are the items. I would appreciate your evaluation as to whether the combine at skill 250 is Easy (95% success), Hard (50% success), or Very Hard (considerably less than 50% success).

    Gnomish Vanishing Device
    Clockwork Shadow Walker Armor
    Clockwork Observer Armor
Anizok's Gauze Press (0 for 3, so presumably Hard)
Cheirometric Lockpick Device (I've found it to be Easy)
    Wok
    Crab Cracker

Thanks for any feedback you have.

Hmm, well I can't comment on all as I was 250 before some came out, but for what I do know:

GVD at 200 ~5-10% success (I'd wait till higher to make, haze eyes are too much of a pain otherwise, lol)

Clockwork Armor's - Being that the armor itself dropped in trivial, probably not as bad, but final combines...would be the same as smithing ~5-10% success I'd venture, if that.

Gauze Press - 10-20% - I've found that these are easier to make, and in helping some others skill up, they've seen decent success at low 200's.

Chiero, Wok, Cracker - 25-40% if not more, I've found that these are quite easy as well. I've yet to fail any of them that I've made at 250.

As for my success at 250:
    GVD - 90%
    Clockwork - 85%
Anizok's Devices (Gauze, shrink, grow, necro) - 95%
    Chiero, Wok, Cracker - 100%

GVD's were a pain in the early 200's, I was successful on 1 of every 5-8 or so.

Thanks for your response. I guess I should save my haze panther eyes a bit longer, but run through my wok and cracker ingredients. I was more interested in your experience at 250, since I can make the translation down to 200 myself. From what you say, I would classify Wok and Cracker as Easy; GVD, clockwork+ armor, and Gauze Press as Hard (50% at 250). The hard stuff (50% at 250) would have about a 10% success rate at 210, including geerlok (if it works like tailoring).

You must have been lucky on the Wok. I've now tried 10 of them at skill 210-212 +5% and have failed on all of them. My guess is they are 50/50 at skill 250 and you were lucky on a few combines.

While skilling up in the low 200s i failed the wok a LOT. Now at 250 its a pretty high success rate (not that i sell many, as it only has *1* use) Crab crackers are about the same at 250 (recepie wasnt in game until i was closing in on 250)

          At 250+geerlok:

GVD i think ive failed 1 in 10 tries so far.
          Clockwork BP im 4/8 (ugh)
Other clockwork armor i have about 80% success.

Geerloks, colapsed items, and corkers are almost no-fail.
Anzioks failures are moderately rare. Maybe 10% failure.

At skill 217 + 5%, I've had approximately 75% success rate making planar bow cams. So those don't seem to be all that bad.

Are cams trivial at 250? The recipe page doesn't say, and I know there are 250 tinkerers reading this forum making elemental cams.

No, theyre not trivial at 250. BUT, they have such a high success rate, id imagine the trivial is 251. =)
