Out of curiosity...does being a necrognome make tinkering just harder or downright impossible without alot of faction work? I'm asking because I really want to make a necrognome.
Thanks,
Xals
I wouldn't think so, since you can do almost all of your tinkering in Shadowhaven/PoK/Katta, and everyone seems to start with the same faction on the moon.
But don't take my word for it, as a rogue, I have the secret-handshake to get merchants to deal with me, make up a new gnome and take him to SH and PoK and see if the merchants will deal with him.
So was it just me, or do you need to get your faction up with the Humans to deal with the gnome vender in SH. Thought it was funny to get a message from a gnome, that says he does not deal with my race.

Do the Trade Commissioner Henry quest once to get your amulet. You'll get an immediate boost to Amiable with some of the SH merchants. Repeat the quest as many times as you can stand since it raises all four SH factions. There are other quests to raise Fordel and House of Stout faction you can do as alternatives.
I buy my Geerlok supplies in SH (KOS in Katta, plus it's inconvenient to go there). I was at Ally before the vendor was added so I've never had any trouble with him. I suspect it's a faction problem if he won't talk to you, but I don't know which faction he's on. He's in the same "room" as Henry but you have to run around to the back of the room. I can't remember his first name but his last name is Geerlok and he's the only Gnome back there.
The other tinkering vendor in SH is Marchap. He's got a shop near the pool/nexus portal.
I have a gnome necromancer who likes to tinker. The gnome tinker vendor in Shadow Haven would not talk to me at first, but I did the quest Smyrt posted about and the vendor was then indifferent to me. Once you figure out where to go, the quest isn’t hard. There is no combat involved. Just keep yourself cloaked in invisibility and avoid the nasty plants in the tunnels and you’ll be fine.
