  • Lost in Steel

Well I'm doing aaaa and bought all refined ore on a vendor.
Now I'm lost and would like to know what transformations would yield to the largest number of steel to make aaaa.
so question is what do i do from small brick of refined high quality ore ?
    a) Large Brick of Refined High Quality Ore
    or
    b) Small Brick of High Quality Steel

i dont care of the cost i just want to get the max aaaa from the less combines

Assuming vendor has just been restocked.

    Ore transformation makes that :
**50 Block of Refined High Quality Ore > 100 Large Brick of Refined High Quality Ore
**100 Large Brick of Refined High Quality Ore
**200 Small Brick of Refined High Quality Ore > 66 Large Brick of Refined High Quality Ore & 2 Small Brick of Refined High Quality Ore

    Ore to Steel gives :

    266 LBoRHQO + 2 SBoRHQO > 266 LBoHQS + 2 SBoHQS > 266 LBoHQS + 4 SPoHQS

then make as muck BoHQS as needed and use the 4 SPoHQS for latch and hinges.

    Am I right ?

From a single vendors stock, that would be the best way.

As far as converting the small bricks of refined HQ ore or the small bricks of HQ steel, it is cheaper to convert the ore than it is to convert the steel.

HQ steel conversions use GHS. Refined HQ ore conversions use water flask.

Assuming no failures, it takes 126 Large bricks of HQ steel and 3 small pieces of HQ steel to make 1 AAAA.

You only ever want to make small bricks of HQ steel in order to make hinges and latches. You can't make large bricks of HQ steel from small bricks i don't think.I generaly make large bricks of Refined ore from small bricks then make those into large bricks of HQ steel. If there are no large bricks of Refined ore for sale of course.
I like to make as many blocks of HQ steel as i can before starting makeing the subcombines.

3 Small bricks of HQ steel + 2 GHS = 1 large brick of HQ steel.

3 small bricks of refined HQ ore + 1 water flask = 1 large brick of refined HQ ore.

That is the conversion comparision and 1 water flask is cheaper than 2 GHS.

As for cost of refined ore.

The cheapest way to get Large Brick of Refined High Quality Ore is to buy it as a large brick.

The next cheapest is to buy Blocks of Refined High Quality Ore and break them down into Large Bricks.

The most expensive way is to buy Small Bricks of Refined High Quality Ore and convert them into Large Bricks.

I'm assuming the Blocks are purchased in the Bazaar from other players?

I have never seen any on merchants

There are only 5 merchants throughout all of Norrath (and associated alternate planes, moons, deminsions, etc.)

You have to either find one of these 5 in stock with the Refined High Quality Ore, or you have to do the quest to restock them (they all take the same task) in which you respawn the merchant with renewed supplies.

Blocks? As in Blocks of High Quality Steel?

3 Large Bricks of High Quality Steel + 1 GHS will make a Block of High Quality Steel.

Blocks of High Quality Ore are sold on the same vendors as the Large and Small bricks. They themselves cannot be used to make High Quality Steel. You need to break them into 2 Large bricks with a chisel and do the Large brick conversion.
