Just a quick question about tinkering. Its not something ive looked at closely before, Ive worked a number of other tradeskills, but am unsure if Tinkering skill is level restricted?

I was thinking about starting a gnome, purely to do some tinkering, but this isnt worthwhile if I can only get my skill so high without levelling.

You have to be level 16 to max tinkering.

It is not level restricted, but you must be level 16 for tinkering to become available.

Ahhh ok, assumed as its a race skill, thought it would be similar to woodelves with forage?

Should not be too much of a problem, thanks for the guidance

wouldnt you need to be able to get AA's to get Tinkering mastery ?

You do not have to have the Tinkering Mastery AAs to do tinkering. If you are planning on doing a lot of Tinkering, it would probably be a good idea to buy them.

Tinkering AAs are different from other AA series in that you have to do a quest. The tinker character has to be level 59 to hail Rylin (in Ak'Anon) and get a quest. Once the quest is completed you will receive three books in your inventory (some reports of only receiving two books, but hail him again and he will replace/give the missing books).

Once you have the books and the stored points you can buy the AAs. it is a regular 3/6/9 progression like the other tradeskills.

You also will need to level to 70 if you want to max out the Salvage AA.

wow. I miss the days when I thought 2k was a lot to spend on tradeskills.
I tried combining Celestial Solvent, a Raw Rough Hide, Rough Hide Solution and a Skinning Knife. But the result was such an oxymoron, it opened a rift into another universe. I fell through into one of Nodyin's spreadsheets and was slain by a misplaced decimal.

In the wayback, tradeskilling used to be sooooooo expensive, a real money pit, and you paid through the nose for absolutely every item you could not farm yourself. During the Plague of the Karanas, I used to sell Blue Diamonds for 8k a pop on a good day. At the time, BD bracelets were selling for 12-15k each. O.o

Once upon a time (pre-bazaar), tradeskills used to be expensive!
Now, most components are readily available and fairly cheap.
